EN Updates and Events:

An app update has been applied on November 14.
- You will need to ensure the app is updated via your respective mobile store.
- Secretary update: You can now assign multiple ships as Secretary; they will rotate each time you return from sortie. Unlock more slots by progressing the Main Story, maxing at 5 slots after completing 12-4. (Note: only the leftmost Ship will gain affinity.)

https://azurlane.koumakan.jp/Opposite-Colored_RerunDivergent Chessboard has concluded.
- Rewards may still be claimed from the Exchange and U-557 banner through November 20.

Best Wishes to Azur Lane is running through December 27 to celebrate the airing of the Azur Lane anime:
- Four days of beginner friendly login rewards, including the carrier Enterprise on the first day!

Pocky Collab is live through December 15 (note: Pocky branding is hidden outside CN):

- WARNING: Skin Rental Vouchers from before November 13 have expired!

---

Quick-and-Oily Tips and Advice:
- DO NOT REROLL. Your account name is unique and cannot be reused and your first few free rolls won't matter too much in the long run.
- Rarity is not a 1:1 indicator of usefulness. There are Elites and Super Rares which are unimpressive (Prince of Wales, San Diego pre-retrofit); there are Commons and Rares which provide excellent value with investment (Leander and Portland are great retrofits). Only once you run up against endgame content will specific ships feel "necessary".
- Do your dailies! You have six Daily Raids, three Hardmode Story levels and numerous Daily and Weekly Missions to complete which will give you a healthy supply of stuff.
- Daily reset is at 12:00 midnight, Mountain Standard Time (11:00pm PST, 2:00am EST). Shops and Exercises restock at midnight, noon and 6:00pm. Night Commissions go live at 8:00pm and expire at 3:00am

BIND YOUR ACCOUNT!
- To bind your game: Log in and go to Options > Account. Select the services you wish to associate with your account to link your accounts. (It is recommended you link multiple services.)
- To recover your account: At the title screen, tap whichever icon on the left corresponds to the service your account is bound to. The game will pull your account info and you can log in. (Please double-check that you are also logging in to the correct game server!)

Writing is not really my thing so thanks for making the thread. Hope I don't go broke in Fallen Wings since the rumor was that Neptunia collab would be the 3rd or 4th event.

I just had my first ship hit 100 affinity. Long Island of all ships, which I find strange because I had a large gap where I wasn't using her, but she's been my secretary since her side quest started, so maybe that helped. I have no idea which I want as waifu at this point.

Picked Laffey for my starter ship, because of fucking course I would. Axen is my commander name.

    Current fleet is;

    Laffey (DD)
    Juno (DD)
    Northhampton (CA)

    Long Island (CVL)
    Repulse (BC)

I shall hang on to my various resources for awhile I suspect. At least until I know what's what.

Don't wait to open your purple and gold equipment boxes. There's no reason and you can use the stuff right away when it's most helpful (I waited too long). I'd also recommend doing all of the daily battles you can each day (they're under Fight>Daily). I waited on those and just ended up missing out on some stuff. You can also start training skills now (in the academy). I'd recommend getting the skills of the ships you use to 5 for the moment. It doesn't take much to get there (and you'll be getting skill books from the dailies and from normal battles), and then you can figure out later which skills to go further on.

I'll also point out, since it wasn't obvious to me, that the Bulin ships are for limit breaking other ships. I wouldn't use them for combat. The purple Bulin can be used on anything Elite and below, and the gold Bulins are for Super Rare ships. I'd save the purple Bulins for actual Rares or Elites, though you'll get a lot from doing the daily and weekly missions. As far as when to limit break, if you're planning on grinding battles pretty frequently, I'd wait to limit break until they're at their level limit, but otherwise I'd limit break as soon as you can because they get a pretty big bump in strength. I personally haven't run into oil issues, but I don't spend hours grinding either. My main 2 fully limit broken fleets use about 60 oil per battle.

Not sure what server you are on but the for Avrora server the medal shop currently has Hood who is a great buy if you can get 80 medals before she rotates out.

Upgrade and open equipment boxes once they are purple boxes. Eventually you will need 10 purple Sakura boxes and 5 gold Sakura boxes for the quest to unlock Akashi(start by tapping her in the gem shop a bunch) and once you get enough Twin 150mm TbtsK and Twin 203mm SKC34 from Iron Blood boxes you might want to start saving those for when magnetic torpedoes come out.

    Good to know.

I had gotten that Universal Bulin and didn't know what she was, then I checked the comments on her and the top one was, "It's a loli that upgrades other lolis." Which was actually more insightful then you'd think.

Another tip that helped me that I'll mention is check what daily missions are available (tap Missions > Daily) and see which ones you can do. They'll be things like build 1 ship, claim victory 1 time, retire 1 ship, etc. Do as many of those as you can each day (and save stuff for them if necessary) just for the free stuff. There are also weekly missions that typically consist of the same things you'll be doing for the daily, so you'll meet those by doing the dailies. One of them is complete 10 weekly missions, which gets you a SR Bulin.

Also, don't be afraid of the Exercises (basically automated combat against other player fleets). Initially you'll probably hit a wall where the ships you're up against are stronger than you, but you still get a half reward if you lose, your ships will get xp either way, and you'll often find people who gutted their fleets without remembering about exercises, so you'll always be able to find easy matches. My fleet has both lines over 8,000 at this point, and I'll still see fleets ranked higher than me that are like 3k or under consisting of 2 or 3 ships.

She has good stats but her skill only shines in PVP. You can earn 80 medals in 2 weeks pretty easily if you want whoever is next in the exchange.

I might wait, then. There are some others I don't have yet that I'd prefer.

I also am right at 20k merit. I can get either South Dakota or Eldridge. Any thoughts on those two?

  • TNTrooperTNTrooper Registered User regular
Both are also more for PVP. South Dakota teams up with Washington who is going to be one of the top pulls in Fallen Wings. Eldridge can save your escort fleet if her skill procs at the right time or if you S/L the fight enough for RNG to be in your favor.

If you're looking into PVP setups, I believe one of the best current setups (and the one I've been using to almost 100% victories all the time except for super lucky Enterprises that chain Lucky E non-stop and have incredibly fast launch times) is: Hood, Elizabeth, Warspite in the backline. Juneau (with Pearl's Tears), Fortune Kai, and Belfast in the frontline. The vanguard has a bunch of anti-air skills against carriers as well as a massive heal when Juneau goes down, while your backline wrecks their backline. Specifically Hood shoots in front of her while Warspite basically shoots the furthest target, so if you put Warspite on top and Hood on the bottom, they focus fire the bottom ship (and vice versa if you flip the positions). I tend to set that up to snipe enemy Hoods and Enterprises.

Once Washington is out with Fallen Wings things may shuffle a bit though.

I've basically been using the following two charts for my PVP

It's worked pretty well for me. I'm currently ranked in the mid 7,000's. Those numbers can be deceiving, though. I've had my 8000 strength fleet wiped by a 3000 fleet with only 2 ships, more than once.

I'm glad I waited on spending the medals because the new SSR available on Sandy is Illustrious, which I didn't have but wanted for.... obvious reasons. I haven't spent much time doing Special building because there's been event limited building pretty much constantly since I started, so I didn't have any of the Special SSRs.

The level of the girls plays a pretty big role it turns out.

I haven't gotten too deep in to PvP yet, but I've had a few nail biters. If you run out the clock it counts as a victory, which is pretty cool.

Outside of PvP I've been working on getting a number of ships up to par. I'm still fairly new so I haven't unlocked all the Fleets yet, though I'm about to get my third.

Question, what is the best way to deal with duplicates? I'd have figured using them for Enhancement fodder would've been the best use, but honestly it barely changes anything. I suspect straight up Retiring them is best?

Retiring them is only really useful if you get medals from it, so common aren't worth it. I think keeping up on enhancement would be good because I've got some of my ships around level 80 that I've neglected that can gain 40+ points in stats from enhancement. It will tell you in their bars what their current and max stats are, so don't waste enhancing on ships that are currently maxed. I think leveling them increases the max.

What I've been doing is keeping duplicates of ships I plan to limit break (2 each of common ones, more if needed for more rare ships) so I have them when needed, but that takes up a lot of dock space. I've increased it several times to where I have 190 max ships, but before I had a number of ships hit 70 (where I don't need to keep duplicates anymore) I was still constantly running into storage issues.

Ship level matters a lot 2 level 100s are going to wipe a low level fleet. Power level is more of an indicator for how geared and leveled their skills are an Akagi pushing 3k isn't that big of a threat if Kaga is missing. Retire blue or higher rarity for medals, feed white rarity dupes to other ships for stats, the higher their level the more you can raise their stats from enhancement.

Dups are used for limit break and retrofits so definitely account for that. Generally you need 4 dups total to full limit break any ship, plus an additional dup for the final retrofit.

Extra blues above that are good medal fodder. Whites are basically used for enhancements.

If you're running out of space, I think it's better to sacrifice the purple bulins than your other purples you need as you get 1 extra medal.

Bullins give 4 medals same as all the other elites. Fusou and Yamashiro don't change classes till the last column so you can grab a bunch of stat remodels and then stop. Of course if you want to 100% your pokedex then you need to get the remodels.

Javelin remodel came out earlier on other servers so she is a bit cheaper. Hope we get the hard mode quality of life improvements soon.

That first event stage had an interesting mechanic. There's no ambush meter, and your fleets can only move a certain number of tiles per move. After you defeat the boss, a courier ship appears that will try to flee to the edge of the map. You have to use your fleets and some placeable mines to herd it into a corner to capture it.

I got a Wasp from the first tier of rewards, but nothing from the builds yet. I'm waiting to see if this event has the daily reward for building three ships before I go crazy. I played the A levels enough to clear and 3 star them all, so not a bad start, but I'm not doing any crazy grinding.

  • TNTrooperTNTrooper Registered User regular
Every event that has a limited banner and currency has a build 3 ships daily.

If you cleared A3 at least once on day 1, cleared B3 at least once on day 2, do the daily missions and clear the 6 normal maps once per day then you will get enough pulls in the exchange gachas to sweep phases 1-3 and do 449/1500 pulls in phase 4. Since all the ships, equipment, and furniture are in phases 1-3 then you don't have to grind past that unless you want more swings at the phase 4 loot pinata.

Pro-tip: Siren pursuit fleets can drop gold equipment blueprints. Which makes farming anything from C2 and onwards cheap cause you can go in do the siren fights, retreat, and repeat.

Those siren fights on C3 jumped up in difficulty. I was walking through everything on auto with barely a scratch, but for some reason those sirens or their ships absolutely murder my vanguard.

  • TNTrooperTNTrooper Registered User regular
There is a lot more bullet hell in those fights so if you are unlucky with auto movement and main fleet targeting the escort ships you end up eating a lot of bullets.

Yeah, that might be it. Even if I control it and avoid 85% of them, I still take a hell of a beating. I use a vanguard in the high 70's for mob clearing. Even the large fleets on that stage barely scratch them.
