That Karen episode of Daredevil season 3 wasn't as bad as I'd feared. Even get a good, long fight scene at the end to balance it out.

My immediate reaction to seeing a new season of Daredevil pop up was exhaustion. I’ve heard mostly good things, but man it’s so far down the list of things that I need to catch up on that I’ll probably never get there

    tv is too fucking long

that's my main objection to Sabrina, I've watched all of two episodes and I feel like I should have a family of field mice living in my long white beard

Yeah I dunno. There is something about dropping entire seasons that make it too overwhelming for me. Like I was really too busy to watch much last month and now I have like six shows everyone is telling me to watch. And I can only respond with a shrug and miss it

Does Daredevil S3 end with a cliffhanger or try to have a major setup for a 4th season that probably won't happen now?

My current television backlog is such:

    Communal (watched with my roommates):
    Current -- Xena: Warrior Princess
1st -- Hercules: the Legendary Journeys
2nd -- The New Adventures of Lois and Clark
    3rd -- Quantum Leap

    Personally:
    Current -- Teen Wolf
    1st -- The West Wing
    2nd -- Cheers
    3rd -- ______

So, it will be a very long time till I get to Daredevil's third season.

    Sort of but not really
It ends up zooming into the eyes of Ben Poindexter's eyes and his irises turn to bullseye targets.

It's a slight tease while being "yeah we've known he was bullseye the entire time"

I watched the first three episodes. And while I more or less enjoyed them, I don't think it captivated me enough to block out time for it. And I'm not sure the episodes need to be the full 45 minutes, but that's Netflix for you.

I will say that some of the Bullseye stuff so far is less "oh holy shit this terrifying bastard can kill you in a second and everything is a weapon to him" and more "this guy is petulantly throwing office supplies in the fight"

in watching tv news, I now near the end of halt and catch fire

    got only two eps left

i was recently made extremely emotional by the show. haltandcatchheads? you know what I'm talking about

i'll see how this sits with me after the fact, when the show has some time to steep, but it's done an amazing, and very resonant, moving job of showing long-term growth and change in this core group of people and their ever-shifting relationships, despite my wife and i just calling the show "computers" and always starting a description of the show off with "well there's... it's the 80s. and people get really passionate about technology in it."

Halt and Catch Fire is one of my favorite 4 or 5 shows ever, and I adore the almost everything about it, especially the way they turned a Mad Men-esque terrible-man drama into something really beautiful and touching. Those final two seasons are just an incredible run of episodes, with a great finale.

It also contains my favorite piece of tv dialog ever: “Most of us in the human race, we don’t get to know what’s next. We just feel shit as it’s thrown at us."

I just cant care about the netflix shows. After Ironfist and Defenders I just can’t muster the excitement or the energy. I’ve heard decent things about all of the seasons since then but I’ve also heard bad things and yeah I’d probably tuning if I heard the kind of revelatory stuff I was hearing about daredevil season one but after those two incredibly bad shows I’m just out and I think that’s what happened with a lot of people.

Halt and Catch Fire’s last two seasons are great and the fourth one is just unbelievable. The way the show handles the moment you’re referring to really impressed me.

My only real complaint about the fourth season is when they needle drop “Summer Babe” and match the “eating her fingers” lyric with Cam actually biting her nails.

a rare misstep in its generally responsible soundtracking

So I asked Rorshach Kringle this question on our train trip back from LA yesterday.

Can you think of a more antagonistic relationship than the one between Xena and Julius Caesar?

I mean two people who utterly hate each other to the point that they will disregard their primary storylines just to attack each other (physically, emotionally, ect.).

We talked it through for around 30 minutes and could only come up with one relationship that matches them and another that goes even past them.

    But what are your ideas?

I usually keep up with my Hulu and CW shows, since they tend to only stay up for so long before the service drops them ( making me wait until the series shows up on Netflix to finish watching it). With Netflix shows,I know that they will always be there, so I wait until there is a break in the other shows and I have time.
Also, Netflix shows are hard to chat about since people are always at different parts of the show. I always read spoilers, so it's either read everything or nothing. When I read nothing, I tend to forget about the show.
I don't have a real TV, so anything outside those services might as well not exist.

If that's all there is my friends, then let's keep dancing

The only shows that I had to straight up give up on were the CW Arrowverse shows.

I enjoyed them (in parts) but at a certain point it felt like homework with their cross-overs.

it's not two permanent antagonists like your example, but halt and catch fire has a handful of blindingly acrimonious relationships that arise over the course of its run, just devastating to witness. i mentioned it before, but the long arcs of its interpersonal entanglements are second to none

Starts out antagonistic but ends up somewhere else but Londo and G'Kar are a top 5 TV relationship, don't @ me.

Also holy cow is the second season of the X-files all over the place. There have been some good episodes but there have been some real stinkers, it's noticeably more uneven than the first season.

The one relationship we settled on as being equal in its rage and hatred was Wolverine & Sabertooth.

But the relationship we decided was even meaner, pettier, and uglier than anything else was the feud between Hugh Jackman & Christian Bale in The Prestige.

Like overall its a good episode but they dont treat Bobby very well and I feel like the Lucky and Luanne are not good parents plot was unessecary. His relationship with Cotton was one of the only good ones and they barely touch on it.

All of this reminds me of two characters in Xena discussing her incredible hate for Caesar:
Pompey: Brutus, you were with Caesar when he met Xena. Is she to be trusted?
Brutus: No. Except in her hatred of Caesar.

The only thing keeping The Monarch from that list is that his rivalry is so one-sided. Rusty doesn't hate The Monarch, he's just really irritated with how often he gets hassled by him.
