Well shit.
Man, I thought they'd do a little better if they'd traded him. The return feels a little light.

Hes awesome but he'll be 31 and only has 2 years of control.
Feels like a solid return.
Good trade for both teams.

I'm sad he's going to the Yankees and pessimistic about how the return will work out, but I am happy the Mariners FO has realized they're not gonna win shit with that roster.
This sucks, but I'm glad he got to go out on his own terms. He's been fighting injuries for the past few years and I'm sure wants to spend more time with his kids.
Beltre was easily the most fun ballplayer I've ever watched and it fucking kills me that we didn't get him a ring in 2011 (fuck the cardinals).
That's the full details. I don't see how or why they go and trade Syndergaard after this. Cano has got maybe 2-3 good years left and Diaz is an elite closer.
Just an insanely bad trade by the Mets and the Mariners make out like bandits.
Is that really a great trade for the Mariners? Díaz was their best trade chip by far, and they had to bundle him to get rid of Cano’s contract. Plus the prospects they got aren’t all that great.

Its great for diaz he won't wind up like poor felix years of stuck with a team not doing anything. I mean even if the mets suck he'll be a yankee in a year or two.
I would like some money because these are artisanal nuggets of wisdom philistine.

I know they're gonna fuck it up but for now I'm at least tentatively excited that they're actually trying something instead of staying in just-barely-outside-a-wildcard-game hell for another five years. Diaz was fun to watch, but the team wasn't going to get better so I'm fine with sending him off after a 57-save season.
Would anyone trade for King Felix is the more important question. He has not been the pitcher he once was the last few seasons. I'm sure Seattle would like to cut the 27 million he is owed for 2019 off their payroll.

So full trade right now is Jean Segura for Carlos Santana and JP Crawford, and Swarzak is being sent to Philly but is not technically part of this deal?

Kelenic is super good and was drafted less than a year ago. Dunn is a first round pick that had a break out year. Bautista is probably nothing but who knows, he throws 101.
Mariners get out of Cano's atrocious deal at the cost of Diaz but get 2 legit prospects at the same time. Cano going to the NL is also not good.
Now that Philly trade? Doesn't make a lot of sense. All signs point to Crawford never figuring out the whole hit thing. I can only assume the plan is to flip Santana at some point because he does nothing for them during the length of his contract. He can actually still play.

MLB.com rates Sheffield as the M's new #1 prospect, and 31 overall.

Fire sale is on in Seattle.

Ms also sent Nicasio and Pazos to Philly.
