It isn't the CW, but I think Sabrina also has a male bisexual character.

    Personal theory:
All four go to the good place for somehow managing to reform a demon.

And it seems like all is dying, and would leave the world to mourn

I thought of an idea as I was driving home today.
Earth is the Good Place. People who are trying to better the lives of others make it better. Those who don't respond to Good Place people get reincarnated to try again.
I feel like this goes along with Schur's ideas about good people working hard will make things around them good.

I'm glad that Tiya Sircar is getting enough work that the very week she leaves Supergirl she returns to The Good Place. I'm a fan

Also this was a good episode! The callback to the sneeze-anticipating thing was neat

Also also the guy they're looking for in Canada is totally Doug Forsythe, right?

This library is bullshit. They're standing in an Arizona public library which is apparently using Library of Congress Classification, which is mostly used in academic libraries. Furthermore, the aisle Michael is standing in front of consists of PR through PS, General Literature through American Literature. Visible behind him is Bare-Faced Messiah: The True Story of L. Ron Hubbard by Russell Miller, a 2015 publication which belongs way over in BP, miscellaneous theology.

Behind Eleanor you can see The New King-Makers by David Chagall, a 1985 book that should be in JK, Political Institutions and Public Administration. And quite near to it is Mary, Mary by Ed McBain, a 1993 bestselling thriller. This should be in PZ, assuming that popular fiction doesn't have a section of its own.

Furthermore, the books are randomly shoved to either side of the shelf, leaning haphazardly, and in some cases just laying flat.

Furthermore, they apparently own the 1999 edition of American National Biography volumes 1, 2, 3, 4, 16, and 15, in that order, in-building use only.

I question the verisimilitude of the throwaway library scene in your comedy about reality-altering demigods, sir.

Not a huge laughs episode (although the flashbacks to The Good Place were great), but the philosophy debate between Eleanor and Michael was deeply appreciated. Both because I wholeheartedly agree with Michael and don't believe in the "Michael's torment" et al theories.

  • TaminTamin Registered User regular
the flashbacks did cement a nitpick I've had for this season

Eleanor's language (necessarily) was cleaned up considerably. In The Good Place, it's fork this and bullshirt that. And, yeah, I get the reasons. But it remains a bit jarring, you know?

more positively, I got a lot of laughs out of the private shames viewer. A strong contender for best joke on the pop-up is page 4,815 of 162,342, but it's full of quirky anecdotes.

The one thing that I really still struggle with even after 2 and a half seasons now is the fact that so much character development and so many great experiences have been mostly discarded and replaced and I'm really glad they've introduced a way to maybe get around some of that.

Another good episode! I super expected Doug Forsette but super forgot he'd be older

I am glad the demons are back and that the cast are seemingly leaving Earth

Also I forgot to point out last week how peculiar it seemed to me that this is the second Mike Schur show where a woman is awestruck by an image of herself as a centaur

also also, on this week's podcast, Marc Evan Jackson reveals that Nick Offerman was almost definitely offered the role of Shawn before him

Which really surprised me, since a lot of folks here speculated that Shawn would be played by Offerman, but I didn't buy it at the time, thinking Ron was too iconic. Either way, I think Jackson's a way better fit

    Kind of, yeah.

It makes way for various holidays/holiday programming, the end of the NFL and college football seasons (and the gear up towards the playoffs/bowl games), and in a more recent thing, streaming services can show the aired episodes of a show without the season premiere falling off for the binge watchers.

Sepinwall's review calls this the penultimate episode of the year, and ends with this blurb:
    * NBC has previously broken each Good Place season into two completely uninterrupted chunks. That approach would have made this the final new episode of 2018 before the season wrapped up early next year. Instead, the show will be off for a couple of weeks due to Thanksgiving and other things, then air a single episode (titled, intriguingly, “Janet(s)”) on December 6th, then go on a brief hiatus until the home stretch begins on January 10th. It’s weird scheduling, but the plus side is that when the show returns, it’ll be part of a brief but wonderful double-feature with Brooklyn Nine-Nine.

That sounds like the penultimate episode of the calendar year rather than the season, since it's coming back on January 10 with a shorter back half. I'm guessing that's what you meant but I figured it was worth clarifying.

Anyway this episode was fun. Michael McKean is always a delight to see and Janet continues to be amazing. Also some good Chidi+Jason stuff which is a pairing I feel we don't get enough

I think it's just some Netflix weirdness, as a few weeks ago the then latest episode was listed as the finale.

Loved this episode - the points system being broken has been common speculation for a while, but it's still nice to see it come to a head. Also, did anyone else notice how flustered Tahani was when Eleanor brought up her feelings for Chidi? I don't know if I'm reading too much into it, but she did seem like someone who had to give their crush relationship advice.

They've "planted as many seeds" for that pairing as any other relationship in the show. You sound like the people in season 4 of Korra who were like "there's no evidence to support Korra and Asami as a couple". First of all you don't actually need any. The actors have chemistry, that's all it takes to set up a relationship, really. Second of all, Eleanor has been canonically attracted to Tahani since Season 1.
