I have finally finished this game

    The credits are long

    Also
I’m going to pretend RDR never happens and John and his family live happily ever after.

    Question about this
Does John start his own journal, or does he continue Arthur's

It's a continuation of Arthur's. Which was amusing when John mentions that "he's a bit of an artist too" and his are not anywhere near as good as Arthur's drawings.

Very early on in the game.

I've come into town on a wagon as part of a story mission, and now I'm stuck here but my horse is back at camp.

How on earth do I get back without walking?

E: oh hey managing to hitchhike my way there. No fast travel suuuuuucks though

You're an outlaw. Steal a horse.

....I felt so bad about using someone else's horse to chase a dude on a mission that I brought it right back to the original owner afterwards

It's me I'm the worst outlaw

    Hey, better than me

My only horse crimes were from accidentally getting onto someone else's horse before dismounting immediately and mounting my own horse

    Still a crime, apparently!

Ha! Late chapter 5 early chapter 6 re: horses
Get into Van Horn from the ship and I’m miles away from the Shady Belle camp I need to check for clues. But I remember there’s a stable just north of town so I start walking. Oh what’s this an unattended horse immediately as I step into the Main Street? Score! Sorry main horse I didn’t want to walk that extra half mile to the stables.

Cars don’t form emotional attachments to their drivers which I’m shattering with callous theft.

The game is called red dead redemption, not Grand Theft Horse

    Also I dunno

The game makes me feel bad about most crimes, because the world feels so interconnected, and the ability to interact with folks in a not-shooting capacity makes them feel that much more alive

GTA just has poorly written paper cutout pedestrians

Someone on Idle Thumbs a million years ago explained it the best about RDR1

In GTA you're in an urban environment, a structured society in which getting around quickly and conveniently is fundamentally impossible without breaking laws, primarily stealing cars

Whereas in Red Dead, there are far fewer laws and a less structured society, which should mean everyone feels even freer to rob and steal and such, but in practice means you don't because it's just as easy and convenient to NOT break the law to get around -- breaking your own wild horse, hunting your own food, selling stuff you kill for your own money

    It's downright ironical

I hate how I lose honor from shooting bounty hunter's horses. It's do or die at that point!

I named mine Goldie because I am very original

I've got her, Patchie ('cause her coat is patches), Henry, and Henrietta

gonna have to sell one of them when I get around to getting the legendary horse

also man I wish I didn't have to spend like, 45 seconds patting a horse before I can loot one of its saddlebags and then repeating it for the other saddlebag

there's like, four horses here, and probably gold nuggets in those bags!

Sometimes shooting the horse is easier and technically less lethal

The horse is innocent, it had no say in the matter

I guarantee you when the bounty hunter asked that horse if it wanted to go on a manhunt, it said neigh.

    chapter 4 spoilers
Grimshaw is pretty alright in my book now, after the mission to save Tilly.

She hates those girls and they hate her, but she went from zero to momma bear in like, an instant.

Right now I’m stuck on “rob 4 cash registers in a day” because I just know it’s going to give me a bounty far larger than the take

I am very glad I finished. I started disliking how long it was at the end and it was making me physically and mentally exhausted.

Its the getting caught that ends up costing you.

I went to Strawberry to try the rob townsfolk bandit challenge.

Richest looking dude around gave me 54 cents, netted a $55 bounty on me. I save-scum'd that encounter.

  • WeaverWeaver Who are you? What do you want?Registered User regular
Also earlier in Rhodes, I had a small bounty. Turned myself in, did my time, shreffif marched out of the jail after me because the game loaded me in with my pistol drawn. Immediate bounty once the cutscene ended and taking fire.
