Enemies with red backgrounds are aggressive, and will begin moving towards the nearest kingdom hero 1 space per turn as soon as one enters within a 1 area range.
Blue background: defensive, will never move.
White: Will move only to attack adjacent kingdom hero.
Remember you must pause and draw a fate card the first time a character moves into the same area or adjacent space as an empire general (exceptions: Black Knight, King of the Abyss, Emperor).

Stage III has been reached. If the Princess does not reach the capital alive by the end of turn 10, the game ends in defeat.
How had the Princess' march managed to make it so far? What started as a suicide run had picked up and managed to carve their way through half the occupied territory towards the capital. How did this ad hoc army fight through the imperial forces that had managed to route Astoria's army in its prime?
The scribes analyzing captured documents painted the picture. The invasion had cost the Imperials more than they first thought. The remainder of their forces were dispersed and focused on pacification. The larger legions had been broken up as rivalries between their generals drove them to isolate themselves and greedily carve out their own new fiefdoms. None of them imagined as concentrated a counter offensive from the remaining unoccupied territories.
The surprise was gone now. Already couriers had been intercepted showing renewed coordination between the enemy commanders. Their forces were now pulling up stakes and converging on the advancing Princess.
Far more terrible was the report from the last remaining long range outposts. Dust clouds had been spotted on the roads to Legania. Fresh reserves were marching up from the Imperial capital, as large as the initial invasion force. This time there was no full strength Astorian army to stand against them.
Victory had to come now. A last drive to cut off the head before the reinforcements arrived.
There were also the new reports from the former capital. Strange oily clouds were seen forming over the royal palace. Storm season was still months away, and no breeze seemed to budge the mass from its position over the castle.
Event (Stage III)
Total War: (ongoing)- All empire characters except the emperor become aggressive.
Dark Rituals: (ongoing)- The princess loses 1 health at the start of each princess step. Kingdom characters on the same area as the princess may take this damage instead of her.
(next event via Donia scouting)
Dark Awakening: (ongoing)- The combat value of the Emperor is doubled.
ok... so I have 5troops, plus my weapons which gives me 6 dice. The troops are attacking into the grasslands so that is a zero modifier.
Ok, six dice. Hit 4+, Miss 2-3, Hurt on 1
edit** ok so 2 enemy troops are dead, 1 miss, didn't take any damage in the fight.** @MrBody
geth, roll 6d6 for initial chancellor town seige
damn, that next card is gonna be bad news... demon king, vampire, lyla, chancellor and gregorio push him to 10 combat value...
Lyla is a flip, and chancellor will die, but he's still at 6 combat value.
I'm going to use a support card to hurt the chancellor a bit, and the rest of my turn gathering supplies, so I'll be at 4 supply. not enough to attack on turn8. If I killed chancellor on turn 8 (not happening) I'd have to move 3 spaces to get anywhere possible to heal on turn 9...
I think I am out of helping the assault on the capital in any way. also... I'm only expecting 3 attacks at the moment... turn 8 chancellor attack, a turn 9 attack from myself, and turn9 chancellor attack.
is it possible for josephine to move up 1 space and let annalie get into the stronghold as well? or are we too tight on resources and troops to waste actions?
edit**
good news is... we dont have to kill the chancellor first we just can't win the game while he is on the board. of course... if the princess beats the emperor, that means next turn *all* those troops are attacking her.
Godfried Turn
1. Gather Resource (2+1 = 3)
2. Gather Resource (3+1 = 4)
3. Play Fire Tactics: Remove 2 soldiers or deal 1 damage to a character on an adjacent space.
Godfried has 5 troops and 4 supply
Remove 2 soldiers in Chancellor's army. Chacellor now has 4 troops
(chancellor had 4 troops, then fated enemy added 1 troop for 5.
3 soldiers attacked me during last turn, 2 died.
chancellor moves with 5 troops to space with remaining troop for 6 troop total.
chancellor loses 2 troops to my incendiary attack)
You aren't near the princess for dark ritual damage, and the demon king only hurts soldier power. You got a couple turns before he arrives at the front door
Wait, how are you gonna die, @daemonis?

Hmm... @MrBody, what happened to Hopelessness: (ongoing)- If an empire character was not defeated this round, all kingdom units take 2 damage?

Uhhh...so it turns out my landlord decided to call junk collectors to clean out our building's basement because two tenants are a bunch of hoarders who filled it up with rotting junk. A lot of stuff was caught up and moved around or taken away. This was also where I was storing Unicornus Knights. I'm sifting through the mess right now trying to find it, hoping it wasn't part of the casualties.

Thing it, the junk collectors weren't even due until the next day. It was the hoarder neighbors who tore through everything. I think they stole the plastic containers I kept the games in (including the base and every single expansion to 2nd edition Arkham Horror) just to put more of their junk in.
Some more highlights from those neighbors (who I am blessed to live right under, hearing every loud thing they do:
- Woman in her 60s. Pink hair.
- Guy in his 60s. Went through a 2 month long period where he would watch Frozen (loudly) every day and sing along to every song.
- Guy fancies himself some hip musician. Loudly blasts fusion jazz (the worst music) all the time.
- Guy tries to play along to jazz on a saxophone. Sounds like someone blowing into a saxophone for the very first time. He has not gotten any better after four years.
- Throwing tons of bread scraps outside the door onto the yard for pigeons. Had tons of pigeons swarming the yard with pigeon shit. After 2 months of this, the building got mice. You could hear them running through the wall and above the ceiling tiles (much to the entertainment of my cat, who would climb the tree and smack the ceiling tiles). Landlord had to come down twice to yell at them.
The whole building is owned by a guy who prices all the rent about $300 lower than similar places in the area. How annoying would your neighbors have to be for that not to be worth it?

I'm assuming he's got no interesting cards, either, so ...
Anything wrong with that?

@AustinP0027
1. Draw a card
@MrBody
2. Move NE (-1)
3. Move E (-1)
4. Move E (road spot) (-1)
End with 5 resources.
I'm now in same Hex as Lyla, so she becomes my ally.
@NotoriusBEN for next
Also each move only costs you 1 resource, as you only have 1 soldier and there's no rough terrain.

@elvenshae for next to move.

I also can't afford to spend 6 resources twice to get past him.
Are we sure I'm next? Because it would be really cool if Josephine could ship me a bunch of resources ...

1. Recruit 2 soldiers
2. Send 4 soldiers to the princess
3. Move N
I have 0 soldiers and 10R
