can someone explain to me why stages still have different blastzones even in Omega form
it seems like the whole point of Omega is the stages are all mechanically the same so you can have lots of different aesthetics for competitive play instead of just the one?
if they're still different doesn't that...invalidate the point of it

I love Earthbound a bunch but Ninten would be a real bad choice for a fighter.
He looks almost exactly like Ness and there really isn't anything unique to him for making moves out of.
I'm still kinda surprised Dr.Mario didn't get rebranded as an echo fighter.

They have different enough properties that they don't fit the bill
Most Echo Fighters have, like, one minor difference. Like how Lucina's damage is evenly spread across her sword and Marth's is heavier on the tip of it. (Or vice versa, I forget)

I think the idea is slight differences vs bigger differences but I'll admit I'm not really sure what Dr. Mario does different than Mario besides a different Down B.
It does seem weird that in Smash 4 Dr. Mario was placed in the "barely different club" on the character selection screen besides Lucina and Pittoo, but they ended up running that back in Ultimate.
Having not really played since melee I am oddly looking forward to playing all the new sword boys and girls, if only for remembering how novel marth and Roy felt in that cast. Also for trying to figure out the subtle? Differences between all of them.

The only reason I can see is that they decided echo fighters was a brand new thing in 4, so obviously older characters can't be echo fighters.
He doesn't have a PhD, he's a doctor of fine arts! Don't take any drugs he gives you!
