I somehow didn't realize how great Metric are acoustic, and this has been stuck in my head for a week:

Speaking of acoustic, Toh Kay is doing 3 shows with a string quartet backing up, which I'm quite stoked for.

Love that version of Gimme Sympathy (it is actually the way I first heard it).

This is always in the running for favorite acoustic thing for me as well.

i was reminded that this song exists randomly, and i had to listen to it because it's one of those songs that just makes me smile. it's unbelievable. you wanna talk about groove? this, my friends, this is a groove. this is a chunky, funky, low-down and dirty type of groove.

a chill, spare, and sweet little r&b-flavored pop song/diss track that addresses how some fans and haters alike are too emotionally attached, intrusive, and judgmental, and should learn to respect others' boundaries. video is also aesthetic or whatever the kids say.
    IU - BBIBBI

the minor key changes were very weird to my ear on the first listen, but i could tell it would grow on me. it's super boppy and layered, with some slithery brass and just generally a lot of elements going on, making for an interesting earworm.

The Antlers are going on tour to celebrate the 10th anniversary of their album Hospice. Darby Cicci has left the band, so it'll just be Peter Silberman and Michael Lerner along with "old friends and guests." They'll be performing the album in full. The album will also be rereleased as a double LP on white vinyl with packaging and artwork by Zan Goodman, who did the art for the original album packaging. Tickets go on sale on Friday.

I can't wait to sob in public with a bunch of other people.

    TOUR DATES:
3/17 – Seattle, WA @ Fremont Abbey Arts Center
3/20 – Portland, OR @ The Old Church
3/22 – San Francisco @ Great American Music Hall
3/23 – Los Angeles, CA @ Masonic Lodge at Hollywood Forever
    3/26 – Boston, MA @ The Sinclair
3/27 – Philadelphia, PA @ World Café Live
    3/28 – Washington, DC @ Miracle Theatre
3/30-31 – Brooklyn, NY @ First Unitarian Congregational Society
4/19 – Leeds, UK @ Belgrave Music Hall
4/20 – Manchester, UK @ The Dancehouse Theatre
    4/21 – Glasgow, UK @ St Luke’s
    4/23 – London, UK @ Union Chapel
    4/25 – Leuven, Belgium @ Het Depot

2008/2009 is when I pivoted from listening to nu-metal and alt rock and into indie, and looking at the list of albums released in 2009 has me kinda emotional. Lots of memories tied up in this music.

Other albums hitting 10 years old this year:

    Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix- Phoenix
Twin Suns - Bat for Lashes
Merriweather Post Pavilion - Animal Collective
It's Blitz! - Yeah Yeah Yeahs
    Actor - St. Vincent
    Manners - Passion Pit
    Veckatimest - Grizzly Bear
    XX - The XX
    Blood Bank - Bon Iver
    Aim and Ignite - fun.
    Crack the Skye - Mastodon

I feel like 2006-2010 or so was just bonkers for indie rock. My collaborative playlist contributions are probably 40-50% from that period.

That Antlers stuff is like, that’s a good album and all but this kind of stuff always just seems like a blatant cash grab when the band has clearly run its course. Last album was nearly five years ago and that had zero traction, 1/3 of the band has moved on...

I don't think it's all that underrated and honestly I like all their new stuff except for the Emperor of Sand and even that one has some good tracks.

    Maybe!

From my experience your sentiment is far more common and I'm the outlier.

I liked The Hunter and once more round the sun a good bit.
