    Well, the new cities thing could be explained the same way all other direct sequels/prequels that take place in the same setting as the previous work explain it: they were there, but they just didn't mention them for whatever reason. About the Asterisk users: there are a few hints to what's really going on with them if you talk to some of them, but the big hint/reveal doesn't happen until after you beat the final boss. Also, I didn't do this myself but apparently in Default you could go back to where Qada was after Kamiizumi killed him to see that he became a ghost like Barbarosa did when you beat him, so it's kinda like a death confirmation.

    And yet, one of the late-game choices (chapter 4) shows you
    that Barbarossa is alive.

    Hell, Crowe and Holly are alive. That makes no sense.
    Yeah, but I ended up rolling with "Deneb did it", somehow. I think Barbarossa even mentions the "man in green" if you talk to him at one point? Might be mis-remembering.

    Is it feasible to start a new game+, keep all the equipment/job levels, but reset and keep my level at 1 for a challenge?

    Maaaaybe. you might have some damage and speed troubles, though stuff like Prescience and spells like Calm should help out immensely.

    I should really play Second. I got kinda put off when I read that you can't get all the jobs in one playthrough?

    EDIT: I also got sidetracked making a shitton of those little...gobbo chomper things. Like, unlocking everything in that minigame but way too early to actually get gold from it.

    though technically, doing the true ending requires starting a New Game+

    On the other hand, doing things correctly makes it not really a new game at all.

    Maybe it's another world starting fresh and then only at the end it decides maybe it wants to hint at the whateververse Ringabell's up to, then we get a Bravely Third later with more Ba'al Busting.

    Given how time constraints seemingly influenced the design of the back half of Bravely Default, I do not mind a wait if it minimizes such production choices.

    Trailer said 2020, so I'd guess holidays 2020. Maybe slips to 2021 if delayed, so yes/no.
