I'm thinking they could do something stupid and release DD2 next to Elder Scrolls 6.
Wasn't DD's release too close to Dragon Age 2? Something like that.
Nah it was pretty clear when it released. It was solely responsible for Capcom having a record quarter that year too and helped mitigate some of the financial damage RE6 ended up causing.

I have zero faith in Bethesda to release anything even resembling "quality" or "A development team that actually gives a shit" after the diaper fire that was, is and continues to be Fallout 76.
Between the PC release and now a switch version, capcom know there is a audience and while we are all speculating it could be that they are in their 3rd year of development right now on a sequel.
Into three like a dangan......(bad joke) I will get my coat.

Y'know DDO was rather impressive all things considered.
Even though it was an MMO based on a single player game they stuck to the original gameplay of Dragon's Dogma as much as they conceivably could. I mean it isn't a 1:1 conversion, but probably 0.7:1 at least.
The game even made a lot of improvements to most of the classes over the original game too and added a fair number of new things to do as well. If there is to be a sequel someday I actually hope they use the MMO as more of a jumping off point instead of just the original game.
Probably one of the coolest things they added to the game was how you could resurrect your Pawn. IIRC you could be a chump and pay to rez them, whether with in game currency or Funbux I don't remember. Or or you could be a badass and fight your way in to the underworld and drag your Pawn's soul kicking and screaming back to the world of the living.

While most of the quests were somewhat average, the dungeons, arenas, event quests were cool...The castle raid was fantastic and so much fun.
The fundamental thing is the combat was great and had depth and weight to it and if all else failed you could still jump on a troll and then murder it death while crawling round it like a demented tick.
Some good classes and some good ideas, and if they want use that all as testing material then that’s great.
Zuul though he can burn in fire. He caused a little frustration in the early days.

The entire game was basically a big ol’ love letter to classic DnD.

Magic Archer was my go to. Pinging from a distance was very useful against the loser dragons early on but it helped manage mobs too
I had started out as a mystic knight but that ended up not really being what I wanted, so I switched to magick archer was pretty pleased from then. A lot of great flash and very effective.
I had always wanted to try one solely focused around the dagger skill that lights you on fire, because I loved the idea maniac knife wizard setting himself ablaze and charging into battle.

I remember a quote from Hideaki Itsuno, the game's director, about what they were going for with Dragon's Dogma.
While I don't remember the exact quote it was something along the lines of, "We didn't want to make a game that felt like you were playing a tabletop RPG, but rather a game that felt like you were actually in the world of a tabletop RPG."
I'd say they largely succeeded.

I think I sent you some weapons for your MK.
Lovely class but kinda wonky.
The mix of physical and magic attack was kinda awkward for move selection; too many short-timed buffs; counters weren't very useful vs big monsters; and stat growth of the class hampered the attack stats.
But it was fun.

I think it had the second or shared second highest combined total health and stamina, and Ranger put much more of it in stamina than in health.
Short durations were a constant issue, but I guess that's a fair trade for buffing the whole party.
Putting a cannon on top of a sigil is nonsense.
Netflix is addicted to debt, and the wild-eyed bulls on the stock need to start caring about it.
The streaming content giant said Monday it will issue $2 billion in new debt to fund its voracious appetite for content, among other uses. Once issued, Netflix (NFLX) will have a hearty $10 billion in long-term debt on the books, compared to $8.3 billion at the end of the third quarter.

Ha! Will HBO make Star Ocean or Chrono Trigger anime now?

I’d be down with an anime of the first Star Ocean.
Or maybe finish the second half of the second one. Or just redo it. Y’know, whatever. I’m not picky.

I don't think Dragon's Dogma will do a whole lot to resolve that debt. Call me pessimistic.
I've purchased it for the first time. I've already restarted once because I didn't like the voice I gave my first Pawn. The few grunts and wordless shouts you get to hear during character creation are not enough information to determine what they're going to sound like when they actually talk, and Pawns talk a lot.
I'm considering starting over again, because this time I'm not quite happy with my Arisen's face.

There is a way to hear the voice in character creation, but it's very unintuitive. When you're editing the face you can press X to cycle through various facial expressions, and one of those expressions is the character saying the line "Steel yourself for combat".
Also, when you get to the main city you can change voices for a small amount of gold. It's an option at the barber, which is a little disconcerting but hey.
Also also, you can buy a single one-time complete redo of character creation for yourself and your pawn for 5'000 rift crystals. After you beat the final boss you can buy an infinite-use version.

You will never be truely happy with your Arisen's face in cutscenes, if that's what you are basing it on. Something about how they rig the face for those means most faces are going to look weird.
All they did for the voice options was record something like 4 different actors/actresses for each gender, and then just pitch shift them up and down to the extreme. It's easy enough to find the "normal sounding" one (and if you're played enough games, you'll probably instantly recognize the VA), then decide if you want them to be normal/chipmunk/demonic sounding.

Just got to Gran Soren in the Switch version and apparently failed the "bring flowers to heal people" quest because I advanced the story too far? Wish they'd be a bit more clear about stuff like that :?

good news IIRC
you can start a game on hard mode and i think it lets you carry on your save from your current normal game. so youll start over and be able to do all the quests as necessary
but at anytime you can just bump difficulty back to normal (you cant go back to hard after but whatever)
im 99% sure still works, although i havent bought the switch version
Picked up an Escort Quest to the Shadow Fort. Which, as it turns out, I am woefully underleveled for. So now I guess this NPC is just going to keep following me around while I go do other things because it's gonna take a while before I try that trip again.
Yeah, it's kind of a joke how they give you that one so early.
Shadow Fort is one full of goblins, not the one far to the NW.
You can cancel the quest, btw, and as long as you gift the guy you were suppose to escort some stuff (because everyone you are asked to escort is an actual character that normally exists in the game, and their willingness to give you a quest depends on how much they like you) their quest will pop up again
Also, if the guy you are escorting is the dude with the great sword who had you running those tests with your pawns... he can largely take care of himself, and you will want to help him, even if you have to go back to the palisade he's at and gift him, because he gives the best Greatsword you can get before the post-game or going to Bitterblack Isle as a reward.

The balls hard early game escort through the mountains, past the cyclops and the manticore, is essentially a rite of passage for DD.
I'd recommend sticking it with it, it's honestly quite an epic undertaking at that point in the game and the sort of fond memory you look back in later.

All those "escort" quests aren't "real" quests. By that I mean literally every single named NPC in the goddamn game has this escort quest when you gain enough affinity with them. They're literally all the same thing, just take the character to X spot in the world, and that's it. They weren't counted at all in the trophy/achievement to do all game quests. So you don't have to feel like you need to do them for some completionists sake. They can obviously offer some neat items if you do them though. But honestly it's pretty transparent how cut-and-paste they are, and they're certainly not all created equal. Some of them will send you to some evil places.
