Is there a good reason to play a non-Seasonal character?

Only on console if you are playing couch co-op and want to share the loot rather than watch your partner have to destroy a perfect ancient item that you could have used.

I'd say it depends on when you started playing and how far along your non-Seasonal account is. Playing a non-Seasonal account means that you can keep incrementally pushing your account forward as you take advantage of your large stash of paragon levels/gold/gems/crafting mats/whatever. For Seasonal, you only have what you've accrued in this Season.

If you are just starting out and there's a Season active, you should play Seasonal. If you have an ancient account with super-geared characters that are nearly-optimized and you're very bored of trying to squeeze out an extra 0.5% damage from your gear, you should play Seasonal to refresh yourself. If you are really into the idea of playing the same character and slowly and incrementally improving them AND/OR the idea of starting a new character with no fat wallet of gold/stash full of useful items turns you off, maybe non-Seasonal is your thing.

For what it's worth, I was very resistant to Seasons for a while because it felt like splitting my effort and wasting time re-building a stash of resources, but then I tried it last Season and had an absolute blast and am very looking forward to the next season.

Cosmetic hunting too, transmogs, pets, certain wings, and banners can be collected in non-season.

I can't figure out what class I want to start this season. I usually go WD or Necro but want to try something new out. I should look at my stats thingy and pick the least played class out. Probably Wiz.

    Barb: 10%
    Cru: 5%
    DH: 20%
    Monk: 10%
    Necro: 7%
    WD: 44%
    Wiz: 3%

Or you could try your least played main stat, crusader or barb. Especially with the LoN buff, you could try crusader and barb.

Rhykker has a pretty good breakdown of how strong each class will be based on their free set, looks like I'll be starting off with DH and doing an alt Monk. I will probably only do the two, I hope.

    Crusader: 10%
    DH: 25%
    Monk: 13%
    Necro: 7%
    WD: 12%

DH is lower than expected... definitely time to bump that back up.

Can you tell I am not very fond of int classes?

What is really funny to me here is scanning my seasonal times, most of this time is still from vanilla. My main barb has 1405 hours on him now, and 1200 of that was from before RoS.

    I miss vanilla a lot.

Ah thanks - no surprise here as I do love my barb:
    Barb: 30%
    Cru: 18%
    DH: 18%
    Monk: 10%
    Necro: 13%
    WD: 7%

Most my Barb hours came from vanilla D3, since that was the class I really worked on to push through Inferno with. Then my DH got a ton of hours in early RoS, first with a shitty Pride's Fall + Cluster Arrow evasive/glass cannon play style, and then whenever they first made the Marauder set into the bad-ass Sentry spamming thing (along with getting a Kridershot), DH became by far my most powerful character (in part because my others were so neglected).

I'm a little surprised that Necro ended up being 40-50% higher than Crusader, just since I only really played Necro for one season.

Only time you have to do story mode is if you want to do the seasonal achievement for beating the entire story in an hour.

Or you want to do achievements.

Not for a long time. One of the conquests requires you to finish it in under an hour, but you don't have to do that conquest, and unless you've done a bit of prep work, you won't do it anyway. Even when I'm "optimised" for it, I still come in with around 1-2 mins grace time, which isn't much given you could fuck up a few times through the run.

They changed the drops on Leoric's Crown. Usually you can get it somewhere between 12ish and 20s now during the season in Adventure mode. Of course if you are playing it on console (and in a group) you can see your partner get yours (especially if you are playing different classes) and cry that your drop just went to waste.

I'm not surprised to see me have a very high playtime on WD, as that was the first character I took to 70, he stayed my "main" character until the Necromancer came out, and I sure did put a lot of time into him. I AM surprised to see that my WD playtime is at 47%. I honestly thought I put enough time into the Necro to make it more even, but turns out that's only 13%.

DH is at 20%, and that's entirely a testament to how deeply I dove into D3 for Season 15, as I'd barely played DH before that.

Started playing last season, went Wizard. Leaning toward Barb this time. The function of the free armor is the most important thing for me, and I understand the Barb set is pretty open-ended?

    My percentages had me curious.

    Barb - 7%
    Crusader - 9%
    DH - 17%
    Monk - 62%
    Necro - 0% (don't own)
WD - 0% (I actually have leveled one to seventy)
    Wiz - 5%

Monk is a good class that Blizzard hates but it is my baby and I love it.
