The main thing that spiderman trailer is selling me on is that I love high school spiderman and his dorky friends, and I don't love a whole bunch of CG fighting other CG.
A trap is for fish: when you've got the fish, you can forget the trap. A snare is for rabbits: when you've got the rabbit, you can forget the snare. Words are for meaning: when you've got the meaning, you can forget the words.

yeah but this time there's an in universe reason for shitty CGI.
I see like 2 movies a year in the theater, usually your big superhero movies.
But I will be there day fucking one for John Wick.

I just hope the distributor in Australia doesn't fuck us over again by releasing John Wick 3 like 4 months after the international release. Waiting to watch JW2 after hearing about it online suuuuucked
If that's genuine it's at least a good sign that they're using the old music.
It's legit. Ghost corps has the picture as their background.

Hollywood does not have a good track record recently with redoing things for a lot of people. So there's default skepticism always. Bit early to proclaim doom, though, granted.
Much like with Star Wars, there are great Ghostbusters stories that can be told if they simply use the universe to tell new stories in the same spirit. (I enjoy the Star Wars sequels personally, but I think Disney will have much better success with the broader fanbase when they branch out and tell more completely new stories).
I'm always willing to entertain new takes on franchise I enjoy. If it's good, cool. If it's bad, who cares? I have never understood the mindset that a bad sequel somehow ruins your personal enjoyment of the original.

Because further additions to the story impact the fates of characters you like? Matrix is good. Third matrix kills off neo and trinity and just sucked and since 2 is a cliffhanger there is now only one matrix film.
Further die hards continue the story to the detriment of John mcclane. There are only 2.5 die hards now.
The dark knight rises comes out, batman basically was active for 18 months then retired for a decade and is like an old man from the injuries of his brief career. He doesn't continue his joker rivalry, retires with the second worst catwoman and now there is only batman begins and the dark knight.
I apologise for capitalization as I'm on my phone.

That's the point I was trying to make though. If you don't like the new ones, just ignore 'em. My enjoyment of Ghostbusters, Star Wars, The Matrix or Die Hard is untarnished by bad entries in the franchise.
There is a tendency by a lot of people to hate the very concept of sequels or reboots, and I think it's unjustified. If I was a movie studio exec, I would certainly be worried about the financial potential and whether or not the sequels would be a hit or a miss, but as a consumer my attitude is just... make whatever you want. If it turns out good, I can enjoy it. If it turns out bad, it doesn't affect me in the slightest. If everyone banded together to demand Hollywood stop cranking out sequels, you wouldn't have enjoyed The Dark Knight or whichever 1.5 Die Hards you liked after the first one.
It doesn't bother me if the ratio is 1 good sequel for every 100 bad ones, because no one's forcing me to watch/pay for the bad ones. Anyway, maybe more on-topic in the Movies thread than the Trailers thread.

I'm trying to not get my hopes up, but yeah agreed it seems like a good sign. Fingers crossed they use many of the same equipment sound effects as well. I never understood why GB2016 used new effects...they frankly weren't as good. GB1's equipment sound effects were amazing.
Yeah it sucks that the reboot was so bad. Ghostbusters had the wonderful feeling to it that the reboot missed entirely
It didn’t take itself seriously enough. GB1 is absolutely the best film like ever I’m bringing you on board that this weird concept is totally viable
Like it’s such a silly concept for a movie especially back then before all these paranormal ghost hunters reality shows
But they keep that shit grounded and realistic and bring you from the guys losing their jobs at the university to seeing a ghost in real life for the first time to the first busting to a booming business to the end of the world so well
The police escort to Dana’s apartment building and the crowd cheering when they pull themselves back up. Its all so good.
And it’s super funny along the way with dry subtle comedy.
It doesnt seem hard to get folks who understand the original to make a quality follow up but the reboot wasn’t it
My hot take is that Ghostbusters 1 is a great movie and Ghostbusters 2 was not very good. I don't understand why they keep trying to make GB into a franchise. Let that corpse rest, it's already dead.
I think I need to rewatch them both. I enjoyed the first one as a mindless action movie but the second felt way too generic for me.
Don't get me wrong, I like that it's become a popular franchise as I like Keanu but I never really got the fervor for these flicks.

What the hell is happening to this world.
Your answer is coming...NEXT FRIDAY.
On the other hand, as much as the 2016 version was a divided line in the sand, it kind of blows they're just saying "well this stuff never happened"
Also the youtube comments for that trailer are already going south.
How HOW? THERE ISN'T ANYTHING TO BE UPSET ABOUT!?

They waited too long. Its time has passed.
Nah they do it like Kingdom hearts games, this is actually a prequel to a sequel to a 1.5 storyline.

Oh no I mean comments in the vain of "yeah get the ladies out of the picture and let the men back on screen"
"we were right, and Sony listened" etc.
Oh well garbage.
