i wear my black ones like 90% of the time right now

i should've got the dark olive ones when they were in stock, because between those 2, and then 1 pair of jeans, i would basically need almost no other pants for most (non-summer) days

I had a pair of those when they were called Nike Air Hurache and had a little dial you twisted to snug them up.

I'm really close to just commissioning a set of shoulder capes for myself and making it happen

I need to get like 2 yards of fabric still so I can use this cloak pin.

I will have to think what kind of fabric works best though for weight warmth and affordability??? Plus it needs to look ok. Preferably blue.

Probably yes. But I can't find anything in a good price online. I'll have to go check the stores.

Wool is not cheap, as a rule. But I've found a local place that sells extremely affordable wool suiting, there might be something similar near you

Got new kicks and thought I'd show 'em off. Sticking fairly close to the All Black Everything rules, as per usual.

I went with fleece as a temporary solution btw.

There is some room for anachronisms anyway and it was like 3 bucks a yard on sale. It's very warm.

So, 90% of the time I'm either wearing Boost, or some kind of flat soled thing (AJ1s, Chuck's, Vans, Ramones).

If the Boost is a 10 and the Chucks are a 1, comfort-wise, the Vapormax sole on these is probably like a solid 8. These in particular apparently added a thin layer of EVA foam above the air bubble outsole that the regular (non-Utility) Vapormaxes don't have, which makes them feel a good bit cushier.

The lacing system (really just a flywire tightening sort of thing) feels great, the padded collar feels nice. They're a little narrow, but not enough to really bother my wide feet.

Fully loaded with 3M reflective stripes, text, and speckles, which I'm a huge sucker for. They definitely work with the techwear thing super well. I can't see myself wearing these with something like blue jeans, but any sort of tapered, slim fit cargos are a good fit with them.

Ah, it stinks, it sucks, it's anthropologically unjust

Oh hey, I also picked up one of those new PA WASD hats that Tube posted about. Got it a few weeks back but never actually wore it until today. They're actually super nice. Fits my giant head reasonably well, and actually looks relatively clean and stylish.

Everyone is doing very well today in their fashions!

I am wearing a sweater over a silk dress because it's a bit cold (for someone who lives in the tropics) and I am prettyyyyy sure that I walked about a city block in Shenzhen with my skirt accidentally riding up under the sweater so people could see part of my butt.

Good thing I'm wearing nylons and undies I guess!

    Fashion! (????)

    Butts can be fashion

I just realized that I forgot to mention that the main part of that outfit I'm putting together for next weekend is a kilt.

So. How do you avoid showing your butt in something like that? I'm not used to it.

actually now that I think about it...

I am most concerned with sitting... Like forgetting to keep my legs together or something. I'm sure it'll be fine. I just gotta actually wear it to get used to it.

I’d say kilts are generally long enough that you’d have to actively work to show any butt.

As you sit down run your hands quickly down the back of your kilt over your legs to make sure you sit on the kilt on the chair and so that it doesn't ride up.

Don't wear a sweater on top that is long enough that your skirt hem can get caught up underneath.

    Genuine skirt/dress tips:

If it goes over your knees then you should be able to sit without worrying about flashing anyone. If it's knee-length or a bit shorter then be mindful about keeping your thighs together when you sit. If it's a drape-y fabric you can make sure it drapes down between your thighs if you have them spread, but generally that's just not the best look unless you're going for like a porn photo shoot appearance.

If you need to crouch or squat down, try to squat with your knees together and to the side. It's better to keep your knees down in general to avoid your butt being visible. If the skirt is long enough you can tuck it under your bum behind your knees and make sure it covers them in the front, too. It's also better to tuck it under your bum than let it drape over your shoes if you're wearing heels, because the heel can get caught in the hem and rip or yank your skirt or dress when you try to stand back up.

Forward folds should be tested in a mirror before being executed in public.

Also to like. Make sure that your bare thighs/butt aren't on some public chair.

This is why I prefer to stand on the subway 90% of the time. No thank you.

Also thirdly, you're a bigger dude like me. Practice sitting with your legs (knees) closed. I would bet you don't have the muscles built up to do it for very long (and if you do, mad props!) and working them over the next week will be a big help. I literally can't get my knees to touch while sitting and holding my legs closed without a chair or other surface to help gets real tiring real fast. Kilts are right out for me, though kilts drape pretty well so man-spreading isn't as huge an issue with them is it is with shorter womens skirts.

I wonder how much the sporran was invented to help make sure the kilt drapes down when sitting.

Frankly as long as you're wearing underwear (or a strategic sporran) I wouldn't worry too much about the knee gap thing. As long as you're not flashing genitals it's not really any different from wearing bike shorts or leggings.

For bonus points, get some fun underoos that say "BOO!" on the crotch.
