@Janson and I finished watching Castlevania season 2 the other night
that was real real good
I'm hoping we'll be able to watch some more of The Expanse this week. It struck me how the guy that plays Holden kinda looks like Jay Baruchel, though. That's weird.

I fucking LOVED Jon Bernthal as The Punisher during the first half of DD season 2.
I haven't watched the standalone show though.
That scene in the graveyard though... Probably the best single scene in any Marvel show to date.
If you liked him in DD you should definitely watch the show. It's much better than most of the marvel Netflix stuff, weirdly. It's not super...uh...well written, I guess? But it's better than I ever expected it to be so I'm ok with it. I wouldn't say the writing is straight up bad but it's very inconsistent.
Bernthal lays it on a liiittle thick sometimes, but overall he does a really good job. He's pretty much what makes it work.
I find it weirdly hard to gauge folks’ reviews on The Punisher, compared to the other Netflix shows. Because it seems like a lot of folks said that season 1 was really bad, but I watched it and was surprised that I genuinely enjoyed it the most I’ve enjoyed a marvel show since Daredevil s1. So I’m honestly not sure how to take it with s2.
It’s just weirdly different from something like the response to Iron Fist, I dunno.

It's amazing on how great the lengths punisher s2 goes to make every woman character the biggest idiot.

I loved JJ season 1, but oofa doofa was season 2 a turd and a half. Hogarth's plot doesn't touch the main story at all and just keeps Carrie Anne Moss around to have a name...Trish's sloppy heel turn...JJ basically wanting to torture to death a well-meaning dude who screwed up 20 years ago and tried to make amends as much as he could in the mean time (and the show framing her in the right for that stance)...the rivalry with the other detective that basically goes nowhere.
What a waste. I think I hated it even more than IF season 1.
Punisher season 1 was decent with some bad elements.

Punisher S1 had 'the voice of reason' say that "but this man killed with bombs, not guns, don't take my guns!"
five seconds later the dude they are talking about walks into the room and kills five people. with a gun.
the show also tries to make the senator who is against gun violence who ran from the gun wielding crazy man out to be a coward
Because sure why not.

Humor can be dissected as a frog can, but dies in the process.
It wasn't as good as the first, but it exists as a weird counterpoint to the first in a way that I find really satisfying
I enjoyed every one of the main character storylines and found them all deeply sympathetic while also frequently contemptible
Action Trish sucked and fell back into old habits and I loved her
Hogarth was a vulnerable sucker, caught by the wrong people at a low point, and I loved her
Jessica misplaced her anger, blamed people she shouldn't, and forgave people she shouldn't, and I loved her
It was a deeply emotional season, of a deeply emotional show. The show's built around trauma response, which is basically never rational. Season two leaned into that, and I adored it.
Some stuff didn't quite land the execution, but the overall shapes of the stories were very satisfying, and felt extremely honest
I quite liked Punisher season 1 as well. The writing was still kinda off in places, but it was well-acted and the action scenes were excellent and it kept me on my toes. I just had the same complaint that I keep having for a lot of Nexflix marvel shows: they tread water a lot in the middle 4 episodes when they could've just cut it down to 9 or 10 total episodes instead.
P2 is basically the above, but the writing is a bit worse and the treading water is even worse. It's fine, and some of it is real good, but most of it is just a bit mediocre.
Jessica Jones s2 is probably my favourite s2 of them all, I think? All the character development was excellent, and while I initially wasn't sure about the main plot and antagonist I was watching it with Mispy who, having had a pretty awful childhood with parental issues, really identified with Jessica and all the drama with her family and mother, and that shaped the way I looked at the season in a pretty positive way.
I think JJ s1 is still my favourite season of all the shows, though, followed by Daredevil s1

The other problem I really felt with all the Marvel TV shows is that they all seemed to have really strong supporting characters for the first season, but they all (with the exception of Foggy and Karren who have been the MVPs on daredevil) feel like they don't really know what to do with them after the first season.

I liked or loved all of the shows and seasons except for season 1 of Iron Fist and Season 2 of Daredevil which stunk on ice and the Defenders cross over which was just Meh when I really wanted it to be great.
I liked some of the character interactions in Defenders, but all in all it wasn't very good and they really should have planned out their main plot at least a little bit before filming.
Iron Fist S1 had the drunken master fight and some of the scenes with the villain, but also wasn't great. I did however enjoy Season 2. I don't know if it was good or if I was just fooled into thinking it was good because it was such an improvement over the first season. The addition of Misty and Typhoid Mary was a huge plus (and the only downside to it's cancellation is not getting to see the Typhoid Mary plot play out). Ward was a total bro now, but unfortunately Joy was fucking awful and almost dragged the thing back down. They did realize that Colleen was a better character than Danny though, to the extent that she's basically the main character and gets all the big climatic scenes in the finale. I also loved a choice they made towards the end with her that I was sure was going to be a fakeout or something they quickly undid, but they actually stuck with it instead.
I've enjoyed all the rest of the Marvel seasons in their entirety (though Daredevil S2 is carried on the strength of it's first half and the prison episode). Haven't gotten to watch Punisher S2 yet, but was disappointed in the images of their Jigsaw that I've seen.
I'm disappointed that it's coming to an end, as I'd definitely want more seasons for Daredevil and Luke Cage, and would have loved to see them expand into other superheroes like Moon Knight, White Tiger, Blade, or maybe even She Hulk. I also really like most of the actors they got for all these parts and who knows what the next Kingpin or Matt Murdock will be like (or when we might even get the next Kingpin or Matt Murdock).
I don't think I'd want less episodes for these seasons, I'd just want some of the episodes to be standalone instead of all having to contribute to the main plot. Making the plots such a gigantic event kind of runs counter to that since it's hard to put them on pause to solve a single case or something, so things would have to be reworked.

Regarding Brooklyn Nine-Nine, I really enjoyed Adrian Pimento as an unhinged & psychotic detective.

I mean, S1 was also bad.

The writing around him, not so much

And of course many of the fights are truly great.

But yeah other than him and to an extent Jess, s2 is pretty bad

Daredevil S3 is probably the best the Marvel Netflix shows have been for me
It's the right amount of stupid
At least so far, Punisher S2 is too stupid
