Pancakes vs Waffles

In honor of the upcoming Splatfest and in pursuit of ultimate truth:

Which is the better food: pancakes or waffles? What do you like? Why do you like it?

Also do you use table syrup, maple syrup, or some other kind? Or maybe no syrup? That's not in the poll. I just want to know.

    Growing up, my dad made us waffles every Sunday morning. So I've eaten a lot of waffles. That may flavour (heh) my decision a bit. But I just like 'em a lot!

    That said, when I go out, I usually find pancakes to be a better option than waffles. Less room for error I think.

    But my dad's waffles! Damn!

    Pancakes does have a superior mouthfeel over waffles I suppose, and it's harder to have a bad pancake compared to waffles

    Waffles are a super bother to make. And store-bought usually don't taste very good. But the pinnacle ideal of a waffle is, to me, better than the ideal pancake.

    Kinda like why I love crab more than lobster.

    The waffles I've had are "crunchy" in comparison to pancakes and I don't like that mouth feel. Too much surface area to overcook.

    Pancakes are good but I hate how fast I have to eat them before they turn into syrup-y mush

    Waffles have better integrity and I prefer the crunch of a good just-crispy-enough waffle

    Do I cut the waffle so the syrup tubs are maintained, or do I not give a shit and void the entire advantage of their shape. Can you make a smiley face on your plate with square robot eyes. How well does it synergies with bacon?

    There are times when I would rather have pancakes. Particularly when fruit is involved, like, I feel like blueberry pancakes are significantly better than blueberry waffles, but just taken as a base item, it's waffles all the way, baby.

    I got a mini waffle maker for Christmas and I'm extremely psyched about it
