Maple syrup is a pretty great addition to a Manhattan if you've never tried it.

Waffles need a special kitchen gadget to make. For pancakes, all you need is a pan and flame

    And buttermilk

I'm not buying any special milk

Just get me some eggs and milk and stale bread and go to town

You can also use milk curdled with lemon juice or even yogurt.

We had some bare cupboards the other night but we had buttermilk and eggs so I made pancakes for dinner. But after I started making the batter I discovered the buttermilk had gone moldy, so I just subbed it for half milk half yogurt and they were honestly the best pancakes I've made in ages. They got suuuuuper fluffy and tender.

Also I refuse to vote because both are good. Both better than french toast imo. And maple syrup verses table syrup is a ridiculous question. Ridiculous.

    Oh they're so good.

Alcohol, milk (I actually use almond milk a lot, in order to make it feel less heavy), sweetener is the base, essentially. But you can play around with them a bunch - I prefer brandy, but I've used rum and bourbon both as well, and as I said I prefer my sweetener to be a maple syrup or maple syrup based sort of thing. Then maybe add in some sweet-style liqueurs like a benedictine or a triple sec.

    Bob evens makes them actually.

They make cinnamon sugar morsels. Kinda like little crumbly cinnamon sugar sprinkles.

Table syrup is pretty much any kind of syrup that isn't maple, though it often has artificial maple flavoring added in there. Mrs. Buttersworth is table syrup, and I think it's made from corn syrup, and maybe also HFCS?

I dunno, I've been around milk based cocktails and milk punches and such pretty much ever since I started drinking, so they don't bother me at all

Sometimes too many of them will get that alcohol and dairy mixing problem, but that's why I've switched to almond milk for 'em

Pancakes are great, but waffles are amazing.

You know, I thought for years that what made waffles great was all the tiny little squares to hold extra syrup and butter, but I was wrong. Those are still great, obviously, but the real magic of waffles is the way all those little squares increase the surface area, giving vastly more crispiness than a flat pancake could ever have

I found an acceptable low-carb waffle recipe but I still use real maple syrup even on a low-carb diet because I'm not a monster.

And I posted about this in the Nintendo thread but when I was in Korea I used to buy waffles from vendors on the street or in the subway and they were amazing. Does anybody know the secret behind street waffles??

I would use something stronger than mead, personally - try Barenjager for a mead that holds up well when mixed with other stuff

Kahlua I would probably consider a secondary liqueur? Like do one with a rum base and then add a shot of Kahlua in as well?

Waffles are easier to burn because you can't stare at them while they're cooking, so if you screw up your timing it's just RIP. Pancakes you can do by eye.
