I guess it works if you want a very limited community. Like, it's not unusual for facebook groups or discords.

    And, are the rumors true?

Edit: Do you get to use the work squatty potty?

I can, but the toilets at work are already so low and his squatty potty is so high that this one basically puts my knees into my chest.

So, I found out my uncle passed away today. I just don't know how to feel at the moment about it, given that I probably won't be able to make it to the funeral (it's on the other side of the country) and all the other emotional aspects with it being my late mother's brother who passed.

    Sorry, man :(

Thank you. And I'm sorry I didn't respond sooner - I took today off to just get my head straight, and dove into getting furniture ready to move to our house tomorrow to get my mind off it all. It was probably for the best - while cleaning, I found a few greeting cards signed by my mother that I had saved, and I pretty much near lost it.

Korokoro is no longer working at the lye factory.

As bad as koro's job was I don't think it was an actual lye factory. Last he said anything it was a Samsung gig, wasn't it? Haven't seen him in these threads for a hot minute.

Wasn't it something like a tire belting factory?

He was at a factory that made wire for use in the making of tires, or something along those lines. Eventually he finally got out of there and moved to a Samsung factory. The Samsung factory wasn't sounding like as big of a step up as he (or any of us) had hoped last I recall, but it has been a while.

    That was a joke.

Because someone he worked with shoved his hands into a lye barrel because he was pressured by the company.

I always like to assume that they're in a better place in life and too busy and happy to post. Who knows? It could be true!

I'm trying to go all in on my interview prep for next week. It'll be the last one I get before I start back up at work remotely so I really need to make it count. I agreed to the 'interim' arrangement at work, which really just feels like they're trying to go about firing me as soon as OSHA's boot is off of their neck. Right now they're under so much pressure due to the mold thing that I'm probably untouchable. My return to work authorization form says I can't go back inside the building no matter what they do, which isn't terribly shocking but kind of a bummer. It means that I really have to pay attention to my next employer's work environment before I even accept a job. Another exposure to mycotoxins will fuck me up even worse.

Maybe I should just start my own business and work from my apartment. I do have my license and a crazy amount of diverse experience.

Went to a client's house today with a TV that has an extended warranty on it. Normal stuff. This TV has a bad panel. A bunch of yellow lines going straight up and down. There's no fixing it without replacing the panel and that shit is expensive, so time for a new TV.

Well it's a store brand so you'd think that would be easy. Hahahahaha no.

"We need to send a main board for you to replace first."

Uh... no. Nope nope nope no no. This is clearly a panel just give me the junk out authorization number please.

"Because it's a house brand we need to try this first."

Long story short, without a manager to override I can't do the junk out. My manager is on vacation.

While he's on vacation, I'm the manager for the market.

I was lead for one of the sections of the ER today. My counterpart for another section didn't show up so I had to cover his too. Turns out he was in a minor car accident and comes in as a patient. So not only did he not show up to work, but he created more work for us by being a patient. We of course gave him shit for it.

it's kind of nuts how OP networking can be. i've gotten essentially zero results from 40 cold applications. i know i'm trying to shift industries, shift from retail work to office work, move across the country, i don't have a degree and am relying on experience- i expected a hard job search. one friend is like hey i know this person who knows this person. they email me, we exchange 20 emails, we talk on the phone for half an hour, they review my resume and tailor it for their company culture, they apply for me (without me having to do anything) to five roles, all with them as my employee referrer. and then they said, pick the one or two most interesting looking roles and i'll go in person and talk to those specific recruiters/hiring managers and tell them you seem cool and smart, will you be willing to look beyond the no degree pls?

i assume she gets a referral bonus if i get hired or maybe just really enjoys mentoring people. idk. maybe i won't get hired (or even interviewed, if they won't flex about the degree). but dang. i'm still grinding out more applications but it's really disorienting and humbling to just see my dozens of hours of custom resumes, cover letters, research of various companies etc get nowhere vs oh yeah i went to school with this person i think they live in the city where you're trying to find work??????? and that potentially gets me interviews for 5 roles

    ain't dat some shit

How do you feel about the band phish? I'd bet money your bosses like at least one of their songs

    Haha!

I don’t know if I mentioned it before, but the bosses came into the industry not as huge fans of cannabis, but as business people who saw a money making opportunity. They’re both very well connected both in a business sense and politically (we had a few semi-famous people - sports personalities and whatnot - attend our Christmas party).

The managers are expected to wear well-fitting suits/classy business-wear and the whole vibe of the business is catering to a wide range of customers and avoiding any stoner stereotypes. The owners invested in some expensive, original art and furniture for the stores, too.
