There are actually MMA fighters who go around slapping folks like that, often as part of a charity sparring event or something. I think I read I a story in Vice once about this Chinese MMA fighter who goes around China and other places he fights in Asia, challenging these "martial artist guru philosopher" types who are basically like cult leaders, and just beats the absolute hell out of them because he has a foundation in a mix of proven traditional and modern techniques like most MMA fighters and these dudes are trying to fuckin shoot ki blasts and shit.
I know about that guy, unfortunately he's kind of black listed by the Chinese government.
Seanbaby wrote a good article about this for Cracked last year.
The first video it mentions is a fantastic example of how you can con people out of money using only a bunch of cheaply made uniforms and terrible selling.

Like, this seems like a fun dumb time if everyone is in on it and just having a laugh together.
Heh, my friend who sent me that video is currently looking for a good traditional akijujitsu or Okinawan karate near him and said "every place I've checked out is a daycare or a bunch of pony tailed LARPers"
This is the first video of hopefully many more throughout 2019. A Pathetic Man-Child attempts to destroy all the vintage Star Wars figures he can. He does this to help him cope with the terrible, awful, painful place Star Wars has gone. Will it help him? No.
That is true, I could care less about the merchandising and capitalist cruft surrounding the star wars franchise, they are good movies is all.
Still I just haven't watched a RLM video in a number of years and I'm not about to start again now. I feel as though I have moved away from their sense of humor mostly.

On the one hand "I got this rare expensive thing people want and destroyed it for Youtube views." is one of the most disgusting intersections of conspicuous consumerism and our current internet clickbait outrage hellscape.
On the other hand pointing at a wall of licensed merch and saying "look at all this future landfill" is one of my favorite Red Letter Media jokes and this is the logical endpoint of that.
I guess ultimately I'm just disappointed that they did a kind of half-assed job of taking these cherished and expensive things and destroying them. Then again that sort of sums up Red Letter Media ever since they became popular and stopped trying.
0/5 did not melt hard enough. If I’m going to melt something I want to be able to pour it into a mold and make something new—so they should have done what I would do, because I am good.
i have personally destroyed the only remaining copy of your favourite toy
You destroyed my block of wood that had "Toy" written on it?
(we were poor)
Legit one of my most prized possessions as a kid was a squared-off log like you'd get from just splitting wood with an axe. It had a knot sticking up so that it looked like a battleship. That thing was the centerpiece of most of my action figure battles.

What if everyone is "in on it" with a sweaty desperation usually associated with religious cults

Mr. Snugglesby!
This was a week before he died.

The whole thing was a waste of money.
Star Wars? Yeah...
One should not respect lumps of coloured plastic
Let the past die.
Melt it in acetone if you have to.
Wait, was that Centurions, or Starcom?
You destroyed my block of wood that had "Toy" written on it?

Actually, you would have to used heat to melt those.

I mean it's Star Wars merch.
I'm sure there's more where that came from.
Yeah there are newer and better toys now.
