    here's some dudes eating bugs

more work needs to be put into actually creating interesting, taste-rich bug recipes

I mean, we already got cricket flour cookies.
Also, as chefs, why would they not look at how they're served in the places that already eat them? Not just like 1 for 1 their recipies, but look at the flavor profiles used and build a recipe around it instead of just chucking them in mac & cheese?

I bet curry would work. Hell, put anything at all in a curry and I'll scarf it down

Whyyyy are these games written like this.

Why is Final Fantasy even in this? It seems like the whole story is just Disney + OC Anime guys.

Cross-brand promotion. The same reason there's Disney in it, for that matter - you could count the Disney characters that matter on one hand! Maybe two, if you stretch things a bit!
The Disney characters are in it to get the Disney fans to buy the product, and the Final Fantasy characters are in it to get the Final Fantasy fans to buy the product. Neither of them actually matter much in the grand scheme of things, they're just there to get you to buy into this new unknown Square Enix IP.

    Also, KH3 spoilers:
There aren't any Final Fantasy characters in Kingdom Hearts 3. There's some Dissidia merch in the background of the Toy Story world and references to Square Enix stuff in the same, but no more than that.

There's still a ton of anime guys, but they're all OC Kingdom Hearts characters. And there's a lot of them, like twenty-something of note.

i feel like the marketing for kingdom hearts has always been pretty honest about final fantasy being a cameo at best, and that US GAMERS who actually are keyed into final fantasy wildly misrepresented it when describing it

because even from the very very first kingdom hearts, there really isn't any final fantasy

I mean, they are in the hubworld and there is the whole plot with Cloud and Sephiroth is the hardest fight in the game.

    They are there.

He's doing a soft reboot of his channel so he's releasing all his left over stuff from last year in quick succession. There's supposed to be four videos in all.

Oh, I see. Well, here's number three, then.

    They are there.

The "worlds" that the core gang travels to could be anything. The core trio could be Sora, Riku, and Kairi and they could drop in on original worlds. Which would essentially be Dragon Quest or Star Ocean if you're being picky about literally traveling worlds. Or they could visit famous Final Fantasy stuff... which is World of Final Fantasy. The flavor and substance of KH always has been Disney and always will be.

Core is not an accurate description. They were probably among people's favorite thing, but only 2 really gives them a prominent place in the story or much to do. In 1, there's two storyline battles you're allowed to lose and some conversations that deliver exposition, otherwise it's all optional stuff. 2 actually has an FF party member and a big blowout set piece with the FF characters. Since then though, the series moved way away from that direction. There was Zack in BBS and.... nothing else. So 3 is entirely in keeping with the series as it has been, as opposed to what lapsed fans who played a decade or more ago might be expecting.

I don't think it's an exaggeration to say that TWEWY has had a bigger impact on the story of Kingdom Hearts than Final Fantasy since KH2.

And you're wrong to do so. If you on purpose skipped three sequels or prequels, what else would you be called? It's like skipping Halo Spartan Ops, which was explicitly the sequel to the campaign story of 4 and then being shocked that the sequel to 4 comes before 5.

In other words, you're putting too much emphasis on title numbers and not enough on the substance of the matter.

i mean, square is the one who decided to call it kh3. i didn't play any of the spinoff handheld games because they were spinoff handheld games.

and hearing that you have to have played them or the already hard to understand story becomes impossible to understand, well, i guess i just won't play any of it?

Look... with or without context Kingdom Heart's story is extremely, perhaps even hilariously and entertainingly, poorly constructed in terms of writing, pacing, and focus.

So I don't see the point in acting like people playing all of the many weird spinoffs (or if they did play them, remembering them) acting like they'll suddenly grok Kingdom Hearts 3 story. Cause Kingdom Heart 3's story is bad. Like maybe you can still have fun with it, but with each subsequent game the story has buckled under having to expand and the writer's own ineptitude.
