Well the statue is supposed to close. Other wise that seems problematic yeah.

Yeah it's supposed to close but after i opened it up with the sewer tool and went out into the mainhall it closed again on me preventing me from returning to the sewers

Well I tried the Banned Footage DLC and Daughters I suppose is the only one worth playing and yeah its nice to see the Bakers being normal for like all of 10 seconds before shit goes bonkers. But the other DLCs in this? Fuck them, and fuck the disgusting sadist who thought this torture porn bullshit was a good idea.
3 different episodes of Clancy just fucking suffering? When you know for all his trouble and efforts he dies from being burned alive anyway? Fuck that.

    Infinite Chaingun get! Yaaaahs.

Contemplating trying for Leon's too, but I imagine it's harder.

I want a compilation of people slamming doors open in RE2 only for Mr x to be on the other side

There are some time saves you can make.

IMO, skipping the magnum is way easier than skipping the SMG, and that saves you a lot of time. The long barrel shotgun does most of what you'd need a magnum to do (pop heads, eyes). There's less overall damage, but the extra ammo you can make by dedicating all your high-grade gunpowder to it easily makes up for that.
That lets you skip the whole book/arm/jewel/box/badge/STARS Office/badge/backtrack to basement box stuff, and also cuts the sewer section down as you don't need the key for anything. Just take the lift up, grab the rook, go back.

And as Leon you can skip getting the diamond key at all, as the only thing it locks you out of is an extra inventory pouch which takes a good five/ten minutes to get anyway (depending on Mr X and how good you are at those vault puzzles).

Oh, and there's a very reliable strat for Leon G2 that doesn't rely on 120fps knives:
You can just go in with a full flamethrower (don't use it on the G-Adults at all), and once the fight starts, move the crane away, stun him with a flash grenade, then open up with the fire. Stop as soon as he starts to keel over (he's got i-frames while he does that and you need to conserve your ammo), then open up again once he's kneeling. Stop again as he stands up, then resume until you're out of ammo. He should take enough damage to keel over again, then you can hit the button for the crane and knock him off first try (with maybe a second flash grenade ready if he stands up, but that never happened for me).

The hardest part of the run for me was G3, but I spent my last save right before that, so I could keep trying until I got it. For final boss, bring shotgun ammo and grenades and flash grenades.

I think Ada's section is shorter on successive playthroughs. It is most definitely longer on the first playthrough. There's no denying that. But once a person learns where the scanner nodes are located, they can skip through her section super duper quick.

By contrast, Sherry's section relies on a lot of waiting as you go through the hide and seek portion. You can't really speed up Irons' scripting, so Sherry's section remains about the same length each run (after you learn where to go of course).

I got RE7 on sale, but I've decided I'm not playing it until I platinum 2.
I just need to S+ Hardcore with Claire, then memorise the route for Hunk and I am done. Tofu is probably going to be left alone.

So something weird with my Leon B playthrough. There's been almost no Mr X at all. He's shown up at parts where he's scripted to show up but beyond that I haven't seen him at all.

  • JavenJaven Registered User regular
I've noticed that if you manage to lose Mr X on one side of the RPD, he rarely wanders to the other side on his own. He'll chase you across the main hall, or walk across to investigate a noise, but if you manage to lose him in the east wing, and then don't do anything to attract his attention, he'll almost never end up on the west wing.

  • klemmingklemming Registered User regular
When you know what you're doing it really cuts down on his chances to mess with you. You lose him, run to the next place you have to be, and almost always trigger his next teleport appearance before he can catch up. The last place he messes with me is when I leave the Clock Tower; he's usually around somewhere, but which side he's on can change (and one time he came out of the library door just as I reached it. NOPE).

I was just thinking how cool/terrifying it would be if he could jump from the top floor in the Main Hall down to the bottom.

Thankfully the Platinum does not require you to do anything with the Tofus.

I do wish there were some low-key examples of his physicality to show how he's always just one step behind. Like if he's on the 3rd floor and you're on the first in the main hall, if he were able to just, like, jump down and do a superhero landing. Or let him bust through more walls.

Doing a hardcore claire to try and unlock the smg

Using my samurai edge and combat knife just got to G1 in 29 minutes i feel that's a good pace.

Never Stop Shooting/Slashing Ever is a pretty good strategy for an SMG run

Infinite ammo proves to me that i have terrible aim because i fired 15 shots at a zombie and only hit 7 of them.

Maybe it's a psychological thing? You know you can't run out so you're more careless with it?

  • ViskodViskod Registered User regular
My aiming in RE2 was hilariously inconsistent.

Sometimes I'd routinely get headshots and headshot staggers and feel like a total efficient badass.

And then other times I'd empty almost a whole clip and completely miss my target like I was intentionally trying to murder the empty space surrounding the zombie.

When i think about it that's probably the case in my standard run and such i was methodical i'd line up head shots and slowly make my way through rooms.

With the samurai edge it's center mass until they fall over or legs and i find i miss leg shots a lot

That infinite ammo pistol seems to have way lower accuracy too, so there's that.

I'm completely floored with RE2. It's such a towering accomplishment. I could never get into RE games, I bounced hard on the mechanics and controls and high difficulty. But here I am, almost beating LeonB.
And when you think about RE6, the awe is just enhanced. How did they go from such cluelessness to such an exceptional remake in such a short time. Even if you consider how good RE7 is.
I'm so excited about possible RE3 and CV remakes.

The answer is the Revelations games. I can't gush on those games enough. Rev 1 and Rev 2 were side projects and lower budget games, but they showed Capcom that the slower-paced survival horror style gameplay is what people want.

I am convinced that the Revelations side-series is what ultimately saved this franchise.

Yeah, I've seen those around and didn't really know anything about them, but they should be cheap enough now that it should not be hard to get some decent fun out of them. I'll definitely be giving them a spin.

the only thing to note is the first boss of RE Rev1 is very poorly explained and you can end up wasting a whole lot of ammo on him.
once you figure out how you are meant to take him out its an easy fight, but figuring it out can be a bit of a struggle.

other than that fight both RE Rev games are amazing and super fun, and the Raid modes are the best thing ever.

If I had to recommend them I'd say skip Rev 1 but pick up Rev 2. Rev 1 (especially after RE2) doesn't hold up that well. But Rev 2 is alright and the Raid mode is so much better.

I just recently finished Rev 1 and disagree. It's more survival/action horror than Rev 2 (Rev 2 is way more survival horror than Rev 1) but it's still a good game. It feels like a natural extension to Resident Evil 4. Rev 2 (which I haven't finished... I tried to finish it before RE2 HD but ran out of time) is good but it's much more difficult (IMO). Fuck those invisible guys when you're playing solo.
