One of the other Max Landis things I saw was him talking to the camera for an interminable video about how bad The Death Of Superman was, and I can remember really vividly him saying something like "they didn't just kill superman..." and then taking a long, portentous pause to allow the audience to consider the brilliance of his wordcraft and the hotness of his take before finishing "...they killed death" and then just smugly waiting for your mind to stop blowing.

One of the only real points of affection I have for Red Letter Media is that they let him come onto the show and explain why his last movie being bad wasn't his fault, clearly hoping that he would be buddy buddy with them and then get a good review. They proceeded, when he next released a movie, to utterly fucking annihilate it.
Wrestling isn’t Wrestling is the best thing Max Landis ever did.
Anna Akana, who was in that video, is one of the people who has accused him of being a serial sexual abuser.
And it's also...not incredibly great that he cast attractive women to play all the male wrestlers, and also cast attractive women to play all the women wrestlers, and...cast a tall dude to play Chyna. Also I don't think that video is as insightful as it thinks it is.

American Ultra didn't get dragged enough frankly. And Victor Frankenstein basically had Jessica Brown Findlay playing a character that only existed to assure you that the leads were not gay.

I've never heard of Shocker: Legit before now and I assumed it was a comic
when I discovered that it is actually fanfic, I started cackling

I didn’t say it was GOOD.
I said it was the best thing he ever did.
(And yeah I’m at work and didn’t get the chance to post you can’t even LIKE THAT because that’s the genesis of the sexual abuser shit.)

I remember liking Landis' Superman: American Alien comic
At the time I only knew he was a smug asshole, nothing about the sexual assaults
Reading about the Twilight Zone deaths makes me think about the times when filmmakers do flagrantly dangerous stuff but then no one gets hurt. The response from everyone (including me) in those cases is usually "lol that's totally awesome, talk about ballsy, A+" Like, for Throne of Blood, Kurosawa had archers shoot a boatload of actual arrows at Toshiro Mifune. Imagine if one missed and hit him in the head.

Max Landis wrote that Mr Niceguy right? the sam rockwell gross pointe blank rip off? I remember watching that on a sick day with my kid and thinking "this movie thinks its cooler than it is."

I would like some money because these are artisanal nuggets of wisdom philistine.
Honestly a lot of his movies sound like the kind of thing I come up for with regards to stories. If only my dad was a major hollywood director.
Or I could have ripped off Copy cat and be a New York Times #1 author. Damn my lack of connections/money preventing me from having no consequences for my bad actions!

The Stunt man/actor really dies in The Sword and the Sorcerer
Tube Edit: Maybe not, eh?
They questionability left it in

Add that to the list of things that I hated without knowing they were by Landis. I think I got 15 minutes into this.
I show it because the editor left it in. Even though it was against the rules they set up for safety and filming that stuff. No one got in trouble for it

That the running conversations of death and accidents on set and Max Landis started independently of each other is one of life's little mysteries.

Didn't the former start because of someone referring to Maz Landis's dad?

He made a parody character to dunk on Cary Fukunaga in s2. Jeremy Saulnier reportedly left under creative differences.
i would absolutely read any fanfic that ernest p. worrell recommended to me

Well dammit, now I feel bad. Wasn't trying to even make a joke; I just have remembered his name that way since S1. But point taken.
Nah, it's a perfectly valid response even if it wasn't malicious/deliberate. One of those "dude, be better" moments, so I'm glad you said something.
That's dumb and bad
