I would guess it is because they don't want to offer that option
7.99 is meant to cover the whole service and if there is a hypothetical customer who only used it via consoles they would be missing out on a sizable chunk of that service which is a pretty bad situation to be in, in terms of establishing a new service like this.
Saying HEY YOU CAN SUBSCRIBE HERE BUT YOU CAN'T DO ALL THE STUFF HERE is a play no PR Department would sign off on, it would be like if Netflix only offered movies on mobile devices but still charged you full price regardless
I only use Netflix and Hulu through my consoles and I imagine a lot of people are the same
I could use them on my phone, but I don't
The problem is splintering the service, folks want to be able to get their money's worth on a service everywhere they can use it. Gutting significant chunks of it on various platforms but keeping it on others is a giant mess to try and keep controlled. Especially given how niche DCU is to begin with.
I'll just pop in and say I'm explicitly not getting it BECAUSE it doesn't have a console app
So that goes both ways
Oh 100%, its a messy situation but I understand the logic behind choosing not to release on consoles more than I would the alternative, especially since they are making a big push with the comics side of things
Looking for info on the new HBO Watchmen series I found some sadden shoes of Doomsday Clock, so I read a plot synopsis on Wikipedia. Between that and the pages I saw...it seems real bad

I'm reading through the gigantic final crisis 10 year omnibus and they dont have final crisis, rage of the red lanterns. Which they shouldn't, because it had nothing at all to do with final crisis and was completely just green lantern stuff, but it's hilarious to me

Red Hood was basically made for the DCAU style.
Humor can be dissected as a frog can, but dies in the process.
Ok, now I want a comic where the jerkiest Robin is bound to a demon to teach him a lesson in humility or whatever.
Take it one step further
Just do a complete mashup of the Bat-Family and Le Morte d'Arthur

That is a pretty harsh burn to Tim.

Ol life of the party Gawain.
Humor can be dissected as a frog can, but dies in the process.
Every member of the cast is great, especially Fraser and Guerrero, and all of the characters are compelling as hell
Its sweet, tragic and hilarious and so much better than I thought it was going to be

I spent too long thinking about Arthurian legends and Batman last night and now I have some revisions
Okay so I said Talia was Morgana last time, implying that Morgana is the mother of Mordred. Technically that's conflating Morgana and Morgause, but it's a conflation that's frequently made - DC comics makes it themselves, in fact, with their versions of the characters.
But the person I want to talk about is Morgause, Arthur's other sister. Morgause has five sons, all of whom are Arthur's nephews, one of whom is his son. I named three of them with my previous setup - Gawain, Agravaine, and Mordred. I'm realizing that having Dick be Lancelot is making him the only Robin who isn't one of Morgause's children, so that seems wrong. Thus, I would suggest that Dick should actually be Gawain, and Tim be changed to Gareth, who, delightfully, has a backstory based around becoming a knight by sneaking into Camelot disguised as a servant, which seems appropriate. Also this means that Dick does the whole Green Knight affair, which suits his general sexiness.
Agravaine, for the record, is one of the knights that sides with Mordred when he rebels against Arthur, which is why I chose him for Jason. If not for his resurrection as the Red Hood, I'd probably be positioning him more in the place of Gaheris, the last of Morgause's children, who is mostly just around so that Gawain and Gareth have someone to hang out with.
I still haven't figured out where Barbara and Stephanie fit in here, because there's not a whole lot of good female characters in Arthurian mythology. Dindrane isn't the worst choice, but ultimately I think cross casting would just work out better.
Commissioner Gordon is probably Bedivere, Arthur's most loyal knight, entrusted to return Excalibur to the Lady in the Lake after his death. A case could be made for Kay though.

Was also spending a lot of time looking for people that fit, but didn't come further than Ace= Cavall.
For the rest, indeed not a lot of women in Arthurian myths, so barring any suitable women, Barbara as Oracle kinda fits with Taliesin (at least the versions that had him as advisor of Arthur).
Also in the Welsh myths you get guys with some crazy abilities* that are among Arthur's knights who sometimes can map to the JLA. Henbeddestyr fits with Flash for instance.
* Weirdest probably is either Gwevyl who can stretch his lips to cover his head (so... Plastic Man?) or Sol, who was the amazing ability of.... standing on 1 foot for a whole day.

The only other thing I came up with is that I like Harvey Dent as Lancelot
It's a stretch that changes a lot of things, but I feel like there's some strong resonance there regardless

I was going through the DCU app to see how the reported push for comics on service has gone and
God damn there is a LOT of really good shit on there now.
They have complete runs of:
John Rogers Blue Beetle
Planetary
Mark Waid's The Flash
Geoff Johns' The Flash
The Authority
Both of Geoff Johns' runs on JSA
Stars and S.T.R.I.P.E.
Grant Morrison's Doom Patrol
Gotham Central
Alan Moore's Saga of the Swamp Thing
Scott Snyder's Swamp Thing
Charles Soule's Swamp Thing
Superman: Birthright
52
Superman: Secret Identity
Jack Kirby's New Gods
Wolfman and Perez' New Teen Titans
The Omega Men
Injustice
Geoff Johns' Green Lantern
Grayson
Grant Morrison's Batman and Robin
Batman Incorporated
Peter David's Aquaman
Young Justice (the original run)
Jeff Lemire's Animal Man
Grant Morrison's Animal Man
Batman: Year 100
Justice League International
Grant Morrison's JLA
Manhunter
Starman
Batman: The Black Mirror
And thats just the shit I caught while scanning through
They also have a surprisingly large chunk of current series. 33 issues of King's Batman which is about half the current run, for example.
It sucks that there isn't a console app yet but man the comics alone make me happy with subscribing at this point

Pretty good!
Not as amazing as the Tom King/Clay Mann Superman story they released for Action #1000 but I enjoyed it
I really like the yellow bat symbol on the suit, they should use that on the actual Batman costume.
