I met the devs for Fantasy Strike at PAX South, and when I played it I had to have it. As someone who has given up on 2LK-of-death anime fighters, its a breath of fresh air, being intensely about footsies over combos.
You can't crouch and you have a jump button. Combos can't really get higher than 3. Health bars are segmented to represent individual hits. Its kinda amusing when a dramatic ult hits for 1 pip of health.
I really love their take on Guile, but did they ever cut down on Valerie's prodigious damage output?
And have you ever tried Under Night? It's a really amazing compromise between footsies-oriented neutral and anime air dashers.
probably the worst bug in the game ever found in the sense that it's reproducible on demand and if you're crispy enough could be used to execute anyone at will

Random thoughts:
As someone who grew up during the arcades I am honestly confused by this anything goes mentality that some people in the FGC promote. Its true that folks could get rowdy and not every place was the same as others. But you could also easily get your ass kicked for coming at people the wrong way and as such people usually conducted themselves properly.
I don't know I kind of feel some of the older players romanticize this stuff and newer players who don't know any better just run away with it.

Evo has forced people to change their costumes in SF V because the women's outfits were too sexy. Not really surprising that they might have a problem with the DOA stuff.
Watched the clips. Yeah, the joke was Bass looked like he was doing something naughty while they showed off the screenshot function. The women that were hired as models did some light slapping and jumping to show the jiggle physics of reality at work. The article warned it was very nsfw, but I shouldn't be checking fighting game videos at work anyway. I didn't see why that would be cut.
It is some Japanese marketing. I see women in swimsuits almost every time I take a train here.

Yeah, but given the games being shown on stream, I don't see why they wouldn't accept it. They knew what DoA is when they scheduled it. The new game is trying to be more esports and less a "tiddie game", but it still has a certain reputation. Everybody knows some of the appeal is the "jiggle" as it were.

Still happened during Evo. Was passed on to Kazunoko by an Evo staffer. And I sort of feel that part of his outrage against this incident was that it might hurt his chances of future broadcasting, not an actual outrage by Wiz that "The act goes against the beliefs of Evo staff and the FGC."
