So Kya discovered a bag of kinder buenos last night and decided to have a little feast, so it was a bit of a stressful evening.
So it was no bueno ?
Also that sucks. Hope she's okay

The Facepunch household is gaining a dog! Born on January 11, we're going to be getting this little guy on March 8th or so:
We've not decided on a name yet, but we're currently pondering Rico and Archer, which was my late grandfather's middle name. I'm getting more and more excited the closer we get.
Any tips for new puppy owners, particularly tips for those who have three cats to introduce said puppy to?

Garry: I know you gentlemen have been through a lot, but when you find the time I'd rather not spend the rest of the winter TIED TO THIS FUCKING COUCH!
The cats will do whatever they want anyway and the dog will become socialized to the cats by growing up around them and learning the boundaries of play where they get the claws out, probably.

So you're saying that the dog will quickly learn to avoid one of the cats and the other two will basically just avoid him.
Gotcha.

Monitoring won't be difficult - Mrs. Facepunch will be home for most of the day when I'm at work, so the puppy will only be alone (and probably crated) for an hour or so between when she leaves for work and I get home.
It's going to work out really well for training, I think.

My dog has decided to take a nap on my coat.
Humor can be dissected as a frog can, but dies in the process.
She’s ok! There’s not actually much chocolate in a bueno, as it’s mostly cream and wafer, and no dark chocolate which is the main killer. But still, there was some panicked calls and googling for a bit.

Update.
He’s still on the coat.

Dogs can eat a surprising amount of chocolate with no ill effect. It is bad for them but it's not as potent as we often fear.
Now grapes/raisins, those are genuinely bad news for dogs.

It's more that most things that are chocolate flavored don't actually have that much chocolate in them, especially in the US. Now high % dark chocolate and chocolate baking powders can kill a pet with very little ingested, which is also dependent on the size of the pet.
Standard assumptions for chocolate ingestion.
1. The amount of theobromine per ounce of chocolate by type (according to the Merck Veterinary Manual):
• Dry cocoa powder = 800 mg/oz
• Unsweetened (Baker's) chocolate = 450 mg/oz
• Cocoa bean mulch = 255 mg/oz
• Semisweet chocolate and sweet dark chocolate is = 150-160 mg/oz
• Milk chocolate = 44-64 mg Theobromine per oz chocolate
• White chocolate contains an insignificant source of methylxanthines
2. The toxic dose of theobromine (and caffeine) for pets is 100-200mg/kg.
Yeah 100gm of dark choc can kill a big dog pretty easily
Yea I have to be super careful with my cats when I'm baking and using chocolate. Even a little unsweetened dark chocolate powder (80%) that is licked up from a spill could be an emergency trip to the vet, at best.

No tips for cat-and-dog interactions, Haechi just grew up perfectly happy to be nice to all living things (also he's confused by cats). But the big housebreaking thing is to interrupt indoor potty THE SECOND you catch it happening even if it means you get some dog wee on you. Easiest if you have direct access to the outdoors, basically start with "NO!" when you see the wee happening and scoop and chuck the pupper outside and then praaaise praise praise when they go (or finish going...) outside.
Poo is pretty much the same but in my experience the dog will stop pooing once you scoop them up. One assumes out of alarm, since I would be alarmed if I were interrupted mid-poop.
In unrelated news, a golden retriever in my neighborhood has gone on hunger strike and is dangerously thin and I am extremely worried for this dog whose owners I don't even know, because lately my anxiety has been finding new and exciting ways of erupting into my normal life patterns.

Gaston is getting better at using his ramp to get down from the bed (he still jumps up but I'm not as worried about that) and he can spend the whole night there now only occasionally moving around and waking me up. He's not eating a lot at the moment but seems otherwise pretty happy.

Maynard is incredibly gentle with Luna when they play. He engages without pushing her around even accidentally.
He's a very good boy with a wonderful dog momma

Three status updates on dog coat naps, and not a single photo to accompany them.
This is a cruel thing you are doing, Munkus. A cruel thing indeed.
