One conversation that’ll always stick in my mind was with a group of friends, and a friend-of-my-friend was complaining that her husband would always just straight up masturbate onto their bedroom floor, and as a consequence the carpet on his side of the bed was all gross and hard.

this is the closest i've ever come to reenacting the jerry seinfeld nope gif in real life.
speaking of covering up, one of our grads students has a basement where the landlord has inexplicably put down multiple, ever-deepening layers of carpet. They had to get the the floor for something or other, and in one corner counted eight distinct carpet strata. You could probably carbon date this shit.
Previous theory is there's a couple of bodies buried in there somewhere (or it's an extremely ineffective mould handling strategy), but this page has raised some horrifying new possibilities.

Tell him or her to move. There is no good reason for this.
She's also been increasingly ill with a variety of autoimmune and respiratory problems since she moved in! We don't think it's a coincidence! She doesn't listen to us though!

update: after much nagging and having to withdraw from classes this semester, she moved into her boyfriends place for a week and is instantly much improved
So we live on a narrow cul-de-sac and the road narrows at the start of our boundary.
The road is wide enough for one car but doesn't really cause any issues as there's only 6 houses beyond our house.
Problem is that we have an open drive and people like to reverse/turn around/park on our driveway when making deliveries.
We're getting a new drive next month (long suffering father in law's last project for our house) so we're trying to think of ways of stopping people coming on to our drive whilst not hindering ourselves too much.
We're currently settled on some metal bollards that are fixed to the ground but you can pull out the main part of the bollard so you can drive over them.
Will be a bit of a faff having to remove them and replace them when we come and go but we don't want out new drive being damaged.

That sound like a huge pain in the ass to remove and replace those every time you come and go.
The response from the company was just "Oh no! We'll send you out a replacement" so they've at least got pretty decent customer service
I was going to finish off and cut-in the blue tonight, but instead I guess I'll just go make a mess with my mitre saw and reinforce the old loft hatches like I've been planning on doing for about six months now. At least that corner of the room won't be a creaky mess
At least I had enough left over from last time to put a second coat on the walls that will be having radiators, so I can at least get the plumbers in
I'm really reaching to find a bright side and not just be a massive grump about this
The one about the fucking space hairdresser and the cowboy. He's got a tinfoil pal and a pedal bin
Yesterday was apparently the coldest day in my city in 25 years. I went to bed with my faucets dripping to prevent freezing.
This morning I walk into the kitchen and notice the faucet is not dripping. I turn the cold water on: nothing. The hot water works. I'm supposed to be at work in 20 minutes.
I use my hair dryer on the pipe under the sink but most likely the freeze is under the kitchen in the crawlspace. My crawlspace is nasty and I DID NOT want to go inside. I plugged my little electric heater into an extension cord and put it in the crawlspace to heat the air a little. Maybe that will help. Then I boiled some water and draped a hot towel on the nearest pipe that didn't have insulation taped around it, hoping but not knowing that it was the cold water pipe that was frozen.
Eventually I heard the water running so I guess I did something to fix it. I left the water running a little more than a drip and left for work. I was an hour late.
So this morning sucked but I did not have a burst pipe and I didn't need to pay for a plumber so that's good news. I hope the pipe didn't freeze again today while I'm at work.
The paint I was using got discontinued. So I ordered some more from a place that had some tins left.
Except when it arrived even though the outside of the box was fine the inside looked like it had been through a spin cycle
So now I get to word an angry email asking why a place that supposedly specialises in selling paint can't package.. paint
This stuff took a week to get here, too
I'm going back and forth on what my favorite part here is: just putting two cans of paint in a box, or one of them having a single piece of masking tape holding the lid shut.

To be fair there's also two bits of sticky tape in a cross formation holding the lid down.
The last time I bought two tins of this paint (that you can only buy online) each tin came in it's own box that had a custom-moulded insert to the contours of the tin -- even the fancy wooden handle!

Looks a bit dark due to the sun being covered by clouds when I took the picture. The original colour is still on the dormers above. They'll be painted eventually:
Radiators were fitted this morning! They've been on for about ten minutes and the loft is now a balmy 18C. Two solid months of insulating seems to have paid off
Can anyone spot the defect on this one that caused the radiator to be half off?
There's a 5mm ding where something has knocked into it taking off the top layer of paint. The suppliers are sending out a touch-up kit (which is pretty much just a tiny pot of white nail polish) in addition to discounting the radiator
They also fixed the leaky radiator in the kitchen so I don't have to keep topping the boiler up every other day. Now all I need is for my paint to arrive so I can finish off and to get my sockets / lights wired in
Progress!

Clean a sex dungeon carpet? You're ruining the oeuvre.

We can’t close the thread yet, we need to cover up this mess with a few dozen layers of new pages first.
Surely the pages will just get soggy too?

Oh hey I have the same light fitting in my kitchen. Light fixture twinsies!

Like on this topic specifically, or just in general?

I am a pooping myself a little bit as it is all of the money forever always all the time.
Now when we turn the water back on it doesn't run at all...
I don't see any pipe leaks or anything. Maybe something clogged?
Turning the water line off, unhooking it, then turning it back on is the best way to diagnose a clog, correct?
You would know very quickly at least!
Yeah... You have a large bowl at the ready!
