In what was definitely a misguided attempt to get me out of the house after my grandfather died, my friends took me to a movie theater to see Big Fish. I'm glad I don't talk to them anymore.
My grandparents were also first in my thoughts when I went to see Up. I spent the first 15 minutes sobbing uncontrollably. The people who made that movie need to go back to the Bad Place to be with their own kind.
And it seems like all is dying, and would leave the world to mourn

I found the original Silent Hill available on like, PS3 or something years back shortly after we had the Little Man. Went from excited I could replay it (it was a favorite when I was a kid) to almost immediately nearly having an anxiety attack remembering that the entire game is "rescue your supernaturally imperilled child". I'll never be able to play it again because it now scares me on a level I'm not willing to inflict on myself for fun
Stay away from Shattered Memories while you're at it because HOOOO BOY.
The kids really enjoy 'family smash' and De Blob, as well as watching me play Final Fantasy IX.
I'm considering introducing them to the Sly Cooper games, as I've never played 'em (besides like, 10 levels of the first one), as well as the Ratchet & Clank games. I have both rereleases of them on the PS3, so it wouldn't be hard to!
I look forward to my kids getting older if just for the extra independence it will mean. As much as I love Niko and Anya cuddles and such, putting them to bed is a TRIAL. Especially as Niko typically won't let me lie down with him, and Anya gets upset that she 'doesn't get mommy' for bedtime.
We're gonna try me lying down with Niko tonight though. I'll probably try the tactic of 'let's lie down quietly and wait for mommy to come in', and hope that he falls asleep in the meantime.

HARD AGREE. I do greatly look forward to the Saturday when both our kids will get up on their own and leave us in bed.
For you and Janson in particular I expect it's going to be magical when bed is just the two of you again!
When Smash Ultimate first came out, we got to convince the kids to actually go downstairs and play Smash when they woke up, so Rachel and I had a blissful morning of just relaxing. It was amazing.

The number of times I’ve told Sprocket to stop all that goddamn growing up
My youngest, and last, child is 7 and he still likes to sit on laps and snuggle and all that. And I can see the end coming, almost certainly this year. That time has been so... short. And it won't come back. Sure, hopefully there will be grandkids but that's not the same.
It's heartbreaking. It didn't hit as hard with the other two, because with them there was another to fill up that hole, that missing part. But now there won't be.
They definitely leave this part out in parenting class ><

This was my question! I hadn't heard much about it, and I legit didn't know anything about it. You would think the people who picked it out would though! After the movie I went WTF, and my friend who suggested it said "yeah, once the movie started I realized it might be a problem but we were already here so"

The disadvantage of this is when you wake up at 4 am and your son is standing there staring at you saying, "Dad. Dad. Hey Dad. Just wanted to tell you I went pee."
My daughter knows in her bones when it's a weekday or weekend.
Weekend- up at 6:30 a.m. bright eyed and ready for the day. Thank god she's old enough to play in her room until I'm ready to get up.
Weekday- has to be dragged out of bed at 6:45 a.m. Will literally sleep through getting dressed and just be a lump until 7 a.m. at the earliest. I don;t even try getting her up until after 6:30, and she never gets herself up when she needs to get up.
She's too young to tell time, so I'm not sure why she's so punctual on the weekend. But I check the clock when she wakes up, and it's been consistent for months now.
But this past Monday Holiday she was up at 6:30 a.m., and Tuesday it's back to being dragged out of bed. Just.. how does she know. It's been holiday camp, and she says she has fun!
If that's all there is my friends, then let's keep dancing

They definitely marketed that movie as 'look at all this magic Burton shit' rather than 'say goodbye to dad'

Abigail has started going diaperless at preschool and has done very well. She's only having an accidental pee every couple of days, although she has no concept of getting the poop part going yet.
So while we're not 100% there yet, it's much further along and feels like the end of diapers for her might be near.

The boy has transitioned from pooping several times per day to just once every other day. It doesn't seem to bother him at all, but that one poop is like a fucking lake

we went to the zoo today and despite the fact she already has a very similar otter buddy at home, Siglet latched on to and was gifted a new slightly bigger stuffed otter by her grandma as we exited through the gift shop
I was like - would you like this cool elephant? this pink seal? this river otter in a slightly different pose?
Hey, she knows what she likes! I love when kids have particular choices.
Niko’s over his cold now but he’s still extremely stuffy and last night I heard him gasp for air several times. I really wouldn’t be surprised if the ENT specialist recommended surgery and I will likely readily agree to it if it can improve Niko’s sleep.

Our 2010 town and country has been really good to us for the one year, one road trip, and one Colorado winter we've had so far. It's also pretty nice that I never need to be friends with some just because they have a truck again!
It's the same engine and drive train and configuration as the Mazda 3 but with sliding doors and 3 rows of 2 seats. So it's got the same size/footprint as a hatch/stationwagon, but with the convenience of a van. We'll use it almost exclusively with the back row of seats folded down to make a really decent sized cargo area. Super nice interior, it's fun and tight and responsive to drive, the mileage is decent and it's got all the modern stuff a 2012 family car has that our 2000 Jeep Wrangler doesn't.

5 minutes later, down he trots in sweatpants and a hulk tshirt.
"Nice bud, is that the hulk?"
"Yeah. I didn't wear underwear because it's easier. When I go pee I just pull down my pants and no underwear"
That's my boy.
