I know DBM better than bigwigs but if you don't want it holding your hand with callouts bigwigs is probably the easier one to configure that way? I think?

Bigwigs doesn’t whine at you constantly like DBM does, that’s kind of the main difference

I’m also not sure if DBM has improved since legion, but littlewigs is a plug-in for bigwigs that is really good for m+ because it’ll have callouts for trash mechanics that DBM doesn’t

DBM definitely calls out on trash mechanics right now. I can't compare it to littlewigs on that, I hope to try it soon, but it calls out tons of trash mechanics now. As I was saying before, in some cases it's far too many and there's no context applied to whether it does or not.

One of my gripes with DBM is that it *will* call out trash mechanics but in a way that is often counterproductive, such as demanding a low-impact cast be interrupted when I really want to be saving that for the heal I know is following. I don't want to go in and micromanage those callouts, because that sounds like a massive pain in the ass.

I think that's the big thing. I know there's probably tons and tons of control over DBM that I could exert but: I dun wanna.

For very similar reasons for why I don't use TSM, or alter ElvUI more than adjusting where my action bars are. I want to get to playing the game, not spending the breadth and depth of my free time configuring a game and then going to bed for the evening.

The fact remains that by refusing to install a boss mod, you’re handicapping not just your own performance, but that of your raid friends, often without even realizing it. Things like pull timers and automatic “don’t squish me” yells make a huge difference for practically zero effort, and are expected to be present.

I don't think anyone's advocating for not using one, though.

Just using the general “you” to remind any holdouts that boss mods aren’t just to give the individual player information, it’s to give the whole raid crucial information and coordination

Basically it boils down to the universal boss strat of DO MECHANICS

Hell, I ran nearly the most basic UI I could and still kept dbm or bigwigs because I couldn’t imagine raiding without mods screaming at me.

I just hated that they fiddle with them every 4 hours.

The fact that bigwigs can basically coach you through an encounter you've never seen before should be enough endorsement to have it imo

I found it incredibly lacking compared to DBM when the raid tier first started, but maybe they've gotten better.

It sucks because I greatly prefer bigwigs for dungeons, but DBM for raids, but don't want to have both.

  • rhylithrhylith Death Rabbits HoustonRegistered User regular
I hate to say it but I think I like DBM more than Bigwigs too.

DBM is far more annoying, which is exactly what that mod is supposed to be. I found myself missing notifications more often with bigwigs.

Bigwigs was absolutely not helpful for me at all in BDA but was fine in Uldir. Switched back to DBM and it's much better for BDA, what with actually telling me when mechanics are about to happen by making noises.

So in M+ if you fail the timer you can talk to Bwonsamdi and sit on the confirm the buff window, pull a boss, bloodlust, and then accept to servce Bwonsamdi and it resets sated so you can lust twice.

  • TynnanTynnan seldom correct, never unsure Registered User regular
I was WONDERING why I saw some streamers leaving the confirmation open

Bleeding edge bad but could could be slightly worse raider.io score strats

  • TynnanTynnan seldom correct, never unsure Registered User regular
Nah if you've missed the timer your run isn't giving much RIO score

  • PinfeldorfPinfeldorf Yeah ZestRegistered User regular
Scuffing a 20 is the same-ish score as timing an 18.

  • JavenJaven Registered User regular
    edited February 2019
But it also means you’ve already timed an 18 (or more likely a 19) so your score won’t change either way

It’s probably a fun thing to do, in a ‘let’s kill the cannons I’m tol dagor so they make ghosts’ kind of way.

  • PinfeldorfPinfeldorf Yeah ZestRegistered User regular
Yep I totally agree. I asked why people care enough about doing that when they could do an 18 on time in a twitch chat and had people jump up my dick and say it was fun and I was stupid, so I assumed I was the asshole, but I'm pretty sure, in this one instance, I'm the normal one.

That’s why I said bad and slightly!
I’ve only done like 4 runs in this season, so failing stuff is still actually adding a pretty big chunk to my sad scores

If you’ve already failed the timer, you may as well have fun doing dumb/silly stuff I guess

There are people intentionally running high keys to fail them to raise their IO score, though. Not because it's fun, or because the loot is better, but because they want to inflate a score that has absolutely no relevance on anything at all in or outside of the game.

zeny what's up did you betray us again

I didn't betray anybody. Im just really into RP and i've decided to abstain from the war in order to not help sylv-

    pffffffft.

No i've actually just not given much of a shit about WoW for a while. I had a lot of real-life stuff piling up and then also I started to play a lot more other games and went "hey do I really care about resubbing? ... nope!"

I do this a lot, that is take hiatuses from mmo's and then stumble back in months later. I get super burnt out otherwise.

I installed bigwigs and littlewigs and threatplates and elvUI and Auctioneer and Skada tonight.

Ran an LFR, a dungeon, 1 BG and 1 EBG, no crashes, no freezes, no stutters.

I'm a happy boy. When can I join up for a raid? My iLvl is 391 currently.

391 is plenty to start raiding

I mean, the key had to come from somewhere, so maybe people with much lower timed clears are using someones +20 or whatever and just failing their way through it? Hopefully the person whose key it is gets paid or something, because I can't see any other upside for them.

  • PinfeldorfPinfeldorf Yeah ZestRegistered User regular
That didn't sound like the case but I'll be fucked if I can understand their logic.
