I'm just going to quietly cling to my Saquon jersey and my Odell will go in the back of the closet.

Hmm my only jersey is a knock off vintage 1988 Bernie Kosar jersey

Maybe it’s time to add to the collection.

I was thinking about it this morning, if I was a Giants fan, this would be one of the positive ways of looking at it. When the Giants won their 2 superbowl's, they were pretty balanced. They didn't have any top offensive talent; heck New England had Randy Moss. More importantly, looking at the last 5 superbowl's, all the teams involved had great defenses.

The Giants defense is a mess. If they think the best way to get to the post season and possibly a superbowl is having a strong run game and a great defense, then this move kind of makes sense. This draft is deep with defensive talent supposedly. Additionally next year has a bunch of top rated QB prospects in it. They could shock everyone and go with 2 defensive players in the 1st round this year and see if one of the QB's falls into the 2nd or wait till next year to draft a QB. While you'd lose 1 year of bench behind Eli, if the Giants don't think Eli is a good mentor, they'd get 1 more year of a rookie QB deal by drafting next year. Or they could take Haskin's and a defensive player this year.

Basically you could look at this as the Giants don't believe with a rookie QB, top 3 RB, and top 3 WR and a bottom 10 defense that they can make the post season any time soon. If you're looking at teams that have made the superbowl in the last 10 years, they may be right. I can't find any WR I'd put in the top 5 on any of those teams other than Randy Moss in 2007 and J.Jones in 2017.

    It's not a terrible trade.

They need quantity more than singular quality right now.

It just sucks as a fan to see the face of your franchise traded away.

They've done nothing but trade away or not resign talent lately.

Maybe in a few seasons it will all make sense but right now we're just Hemorrhaging talent and not seeing the return.

Yeah, I can imagine this is what a Browns fan felt like the last 5-6 years. Getting rid of anyone that was decent on the team to build up draft picks.

Could be fun if the Cards are just bluffing about Murray and the Jags now have Foles locked up. The combo of Murray and Saquon would be a lot of fun to watch.

I'm sure I'll feel better in a few years when they have a nice crop of young talent.

    Unless they draft like shit.

The trade in the context of March of 2019 isn’t that bad, sure, from a “need to rebuild and can get value from a guy who has too much emotion to play productively for a bad team.”

It’s FUCKING TERRIBLE in the context of committing to Eli in 2018 and paying OBJ a whole bunch of money and still being on the hook for a lot of it even though he’s now on a different team.

And now they’re going to run Saquon into the ground before they’re good enough again to matter.

Also, and even though they’ve nailed it the past 2 years, it’s still kind of a relief to not have to worry about the Browns blowing a 1st round pick.

The OBJ trade has made way too many of my circle of Browns fans retroactively excited about Hunt and it’s grossss

That would have been a ton of fun, but Earl's been my favorite non-Eagles player for years so more than anything I'm just happy that he's not going to Dallas.

Chiefs just released Berry. In two seasons they give up so many defensive leaders. Then wonder why the D keeps getting worse.

Berry never played and his contract sucked, cutting him was inevitable. I do wonder who’s going to rush the passer for them, though.

We all knew this was coming with both Houston and Berry when Dorsey gave them those absurd contracts.

Berry is one of my favorite players, but it makes no sense keeping him.

There are still a lot of good players available, and this will give us more room.

Apparently he's a good run defender?

    Seems like a decent pickup.
