So, I'm watching B33f's smurfing stream as he's trying to stay in Tier 5.

    Mech: Flea-20
    Loadout: ECM+Stealth, MASC, 4xFlamers
Situation: Teams are at 1 - 11 (B33f is the last alive on his team), Skirmish on Canyon Network

He knows he's screwed, but comes up with a plan. He finds and gets an enemy Victor to chase him. B33f brings the Victor to a canyon that leads out past the map limits. B33f runs out of bounds...the Victor chases. B33f heats up the Victor who makes the mistake of firing his weapons. Victor shuts down...

    Out of bounds.

B33f hits MASC and runs back inbounds. Victor suicides.

B33f dies because he's laughing so hard his hands are off the keyboard and the Victor's friends caught up.

The holiday one gets 10% cooldown on ballistics and a 10% cooldown on Gauss
Also missile spread and structure quirks.

(it’s also slow as hell with an xl engine).

I’m expecting so many LRM/Gauss boats trying to queue for Polar.

Actually, we get the COR-RA which only has the 10% cooldown on ballistics.

I love these sort of really bad mechs. Which is why I left my SPL/flamer Nova for so long. Also just rebuilt my old crappy Urbie of 1AC20 with 2t of ammo. God I missed this mech.

Looked at Jarl's website and realized that I primarily run Lights. Although recently it shows me running an average of all weights these days. Maybe it is time for me to return to my roots...

Thought the RA was for the Ravager Hero? The BR's weapon load matches what Nav Alpha has for hard points, and the color scheme is just a little too close to the one we had for the Holiday WHMIIC

Ack, sorry about that reply. I wrote it earlier since I was on the Corsair presale page and saw that it was the only hero. Later on I went back and noticed that the BR had the same build as the holiday post. So figured I was wrong and never went back to delete my saved draft. So yes, you are correct on the BR is the one we should get for free which has the extra Gauss cooldown.

huh I wonder if its arms disappear if they're not mounting any weapons? some of those screenshots have arms and some don't

It actually has 2 different arm models depending on whether or not they have lower arm actuators. The full arms have the actuator and the stumpy arms do not.

Yesterday I had a good run on my splatwhacker. Best game involved me running to the basement on HPG skirmish so I could drop a UAV on the other side, then wait for my seismics and UAV to tell me when the rotation starts so I could run up and start hounding the back.

Piranha tried to scout me in the basement, but I’m nimble enough so he can’t eat my back and they have a severe allergy to a dozen SRMS hitting any component so he skips out.

Then I notice that there’s no rotations and my team is pushing them off the platform. My first clue to this is the chewed up Blood Asp (5xUAC/5) that falls off the ledge in front of me, followed a few seconds later by a LRM Scorch. Three things factored into the fight that followed:

    1. Bushwhackers are absolute tanks.
    2. The Blood Asp had some bad luck with jams.
    3. The Scorch panicked.

Final result is that I went toe to toe with two assaults in a medium by myself and bagged them both. Then for good measure I went up the ramp and killed a Timberwolf right after.

Apparently someone got a hankering to run that flaming Flea. Got into an Assault match on Rube and a teammate said "hey, we faced this guy last match, they are running 4 flamers and will just run out the clock" and they did exactly that. Luckily it also ended up something like 10 v 1, so we just had 6 people sitting on their base and squashed them when they tried to harass us.

So I put an alternate 'lazy' loadout on my SunSpider - ATM12, ATM12, ATM9, HLL. I'm told I get ghost heat on the ATMs if I fire more than 2. Now, I have a HMN with ATM9, ATM6, ATM6 - that has no ghost heat messages. If I drop all the ATMs to 9s, no ghost heat. If I add an ATM3, back to ghost heat, but this time it's if I fire more than 3. If I put 4x ATM3 in there, no ghost heat.

Findings: ATM ghost heat is a weird mix of tube number and launcher number that doesn't make a great deal of sense.

ATM ghost heat works like this:
3 ATMs and any of them is an ATM12. Ghost heat.
4 ATMs and any of them is bigger than an ATM3. Ghost heat.
    5 ATMs. Ghost heat.

This means that the greatest numbers of ATMs you can launch without ghost heat is 27 with 3 ATM9s. Other than that it's a matter of balancing weight efficiency against heat efficiency. ATM12s/6s have the best heat efficiency, but the worst weight efficiency (although ATM9s are noticably less heat efficient than ATM6/12s, but only marginally more weight efficient).

Well, trying to figure out if I want to go 2xATM12/ATM9 or 3xATM9s, in that case.

The 3xATM9 lets me use an LPL instead of a HLL and pack some more ammo, so there's that.

In my experience, 3xATM9 is still pretty toasty. It's kind of the reason why I've settled on the sweet spot of ATM21 (2xATM6+1xATM9).

In my opinion, ATMs are a go-big or go-home weapon. The ATM-36 Mad Dog, ATM-42 SuperNova, and ATM-48 MadCat are the three biggest damage dealers I have in my roster.

In situations where the ATM is effective, you'll wish you had more ATMs. In the situations it's not effective, your focus should be relocating to a better position.

Gotta factor in the different range break points, the minimum distance, the way they shoot in a stream instead of a burst. Bleh, gimme bullets and electromagnetically thrown refrigerators.

I switch my Sunspider between ATM27/LPL and ERPPC/2xUAC10 and enjoy both builds lots.

I did have ATM33/HLL but I like the LPL and extra ammo more, I think. Not that hot with the LPL build, either.

Man, it's a delicious feeling to take a CP-10-Q SRM brawler and get up into a pair of Supernova missile boats (one was LRM, one was ATM) faces to deliver 40 SRMs at point blank range.

Man it feels good and refreshing with the help of that early-campaign guide. I just did a VIP rescue mission in which I incapacitated a Pew-Pew Hunchback, which was handed to me for free because I asked for high salvage.

Had a game last night on Canyon in my Cheetah where I snuck around the back of the enemy line and ended up with well over 300 tons of enemy focused on trying to erase me. Ended up having an arm come off, and for some reason I thought I lost all of my MGs so I spent the remainder using the remaining 2/3 HML. We won pretty handily, and I had just shy of 700 damage, but i noticed as the victory screen came up I still had 2 MGs left. I could have gotten even more damage! Aarg!

When you double tap on UAC's inside the ghost heat window, does that generate ghost heat as if you had equipped over the HSL limit?

If it's a single UAC20 (for example), no. There's enough of a delay between firing that you won'tshouldn't trigger ghost heat.

However, if you have two UAC20s mounted and you fire the second UAC at any time while the first is firing its burst, you'll trigger ghost heat.

Escort could be funny sometimes if the attacking team knew the route the atlas would take.

Like Crimson Strait where it would walk straight down the saddle and under the platform where the entire attacking team could be safely waiting with perfect cover from the escort.

I’ll never forget the Polar Highlands escort mission where we were defending. We got wiped out by the attacking team.

All except a lone Annihilator who sat on top of a snow drift in the middle of the map mournfully asking where everybody went as the drop ship lifted off with the VIP intact.

Ok. I sold my Corsair Broadside. I just instantly noticed that this mech was not my thing and after trying a few rounds it's just horrible. It's broad, the hardpoints can optimisticly be described as "quirky" and it uses my least favorite weapon system, Gauss.

Broadside is the holiday one right? I was kinda expecting the standard build to be 2xGauss+2-3xERLL for a sniper.

The problem with Gauss+ERLL is that you have to show the entire fat mech to use them. The energy hardpoints are over theeeeeere and the ballistic hardpoints are over theeeeeeere. The Gauss hardpoints are decent since they sit close to the cockpit, but the energy hardpoints are shit.

3xLPL, 1 HGR version of the Broadside isn't too bad, kinda the big brother of the RGH-2A. Does get a bit toasty if you try to salvo the LPLs too much.

Double AMS to help protect you but you're going to be slow as all hell

After playing with it a bit, the fact that one LPL is high up and the other two low makes it rather difficult to get consistent performance.

Trying out the 2xLB-10X, 1 MRM-40 build and so far it's not bad either. My main concern is having to mix 3 ammo types (with the AMS) so finding safe places to put ammo is...interesting.

Other option is a mix with SRMs and some kind of ballistics. Will play around with builds tomorrow at work when I have downtime.

I will say that so far it's better than the Holiday WHM-IIC, and that one's on the shelf right now after the size correction with lack of decent buffs.
