So, with the better bench are you able to craft specific types of gear (with random bonuses/etc). Like, I like the Demeter Quick-Stash packs... would I be able to craft those specifically until I get a set I want, how does that part work?

You'll eventually get replica blueprints of name-brand gear that you can craft. That doesn't happen until the World Tiers, though.

...the problem being that unless you get lucky with a vendor selling what you want, you'll wind up too high in item level for it to matter what you can build on the bench.

Is the DZ balanced for groups, even when you're solo? I've been having a hell of a time making any progress there, finding it much more difficult than replaying missions on hard.

  • StupidStupid Newcastle, NSWRegistered User regular
My DZ experience is not yours, but I found the DZ to be much much easier than open world missions, side missions and random events. The normalization scaling made even yellow bar "elite" enemies droppable with less than a single clip from a decent weapon, and a random fight with 5 elites can be won by a below-average player (i.e. me) in less than a minute. Having said that, I only wandered in when I was max level for my DZ tier (1-10, 11-19, 20-29, etc) - which shouldn't make a difference due to normalization - and I only played in there until my DZ level was double my LZ xp level (20 in the low level area, 40 in the mid level, etc). I always left the DZ with much better gear than I went in with, often by a very wide margin.

    I don't have any WT1+ DZ experience.

I'm in WT1, I've tried normalised and unnormalised. Unnormalised was brutal, I ran out of ammo before I cleared a single landmark. Normalised is possible, but by far the most difficult content I've tried.

we done talking about the political stuff in the game? having played a fair bit of the first, and knowing some of the specific criticism it got, I have found div2 goes out of its way to be very Liberal (in the US democratic sense, so ever so slightly left of centre). gone are the poorly thought out bad guys of div1 like insane garbage men, now we have asshole military operators right from the start. there's also the inclusion of way more female enemies, in that lib sense of, "but we have female drone pilots now, and that's a good thing."

i get the whole lone judge, jury, and executioner schtick, it's still there. but that's not so much more political than 97% of other American action power fantasies. it's not like we have a white supremacist splinter group, or an anarchist faction taking advantage to set something else up (and it would be very interesting to see which side of the good guy and bad guy divide they would fall under). i think there's a group that's fed up with the government? not sure i've met them yet, but their motivation is different anyway.

as a writer myself, i know my politics and imaginative scenarios don't always go together. one will always inform the other, but, for example, socialism is a model of society that requires certain frameworks to be in place. sometimes there are other imperatives.

not that i'd expect anything a company like ubisoft puts out to be better than lib fluff anyway. the most important thing is that any sane person should know that nothing and nobody is perfect and you are allowed to enjoy things because of that.

Hey are clans character specific or account specific? I might try to join Woe Bundy in the next few days, but I usually duo with my by, and solo on an alt.

    Clans are account-wide.

Seems I've been hit by a bug. The second settlement (the Castle), is greyed out for me. I thought it would unlock later, but I've gone further in the story, and done the mission that I was sent on when finding it, but it's stayed greyed out.

Reading up on it, this seems to primarily be a console problem, but I'm on PC and I've got it. Bummer.

It’s not a bug. There’s no one there anymore.

Ah, so it's DLC fodder, I guess? I got the mission from the agent there and finished it and progressed the story, so I guess I'm good?

I had a similar problem, apparently the Castle is never supposed to become active at all for story reasons. I had a snag where I could get the little mission brief to go do the mission at the station, but nothing happens after that to say hey well done, you need to move somewhere else and going back to the castle just gives me the briefing again. Mechanically everything is fine but it's a shame that the loose end isn't tied off properly.

The last DLC story expansion is meant to ‘finish’ this chapter of the story. I’m guessing we’ll go back there then.

I'm really enjoying the game so far. I just got it Tuesday and haven't been able to put it down. I just wish that my rewards from playing D1 would pop for me even though I played it on PC and I'm playing this one on PS4 :bigfrown:

Played D1 on PS4 and playing this one on PC because I splurged on a system last year. Elijah_Prophet on PC, I sent a join request to Pax Arcadia II yesterday but I guess thats the wrong overflow clan? I'll shoot one to Woe Bundy tonight.
Haven't finished the main storyline yet, been wasting time running around and looting Kid's Jackets.

I know when I got my new headset I was playing with the settings and one of the settings definitely allowed me to hear a TON of buzzing everywhere there was trash. I switched back to some other mode and don't hear it anymore but they are there on one of the audio channels, so the implication is that there are f'n flies EVERYWHERE cause of all the trash.

So, the weekly ubi challenges just reward in game money and ubi xp? Not the actual ubi points that you can buy club stuff with? They seem a little irritating to only reward what they do.

    Some of them, anyway.

Sadly, "TV Cop" just nets you 5 achievement points/bronze trophy/etc...

Yeah, not all achievements give ubi points.

Also, note: Starting in April, Ubi Points will expire (retroactively) after two years. So... if you have been accumulating points, you want to use them. Esp. if they're from old games (earned pre-2017). EG: I have ~600 points left, and I have to spend ~450 points.

100 points is a 20% off coupon from the ubi store, so...yeah.

I saw one deer that was doing its grazing animation but unfortunately it was doing so over 4 corpses so it looked like the deer was eating the bodies. I turned the corner and saw that and thought man this shit just got dark.

I do laugh at the Vegan Hippie sensibilities of the devs. The various communities are full of gardens and solar panels and community libraries, but no livestock or chicken coops. Protein, people ! Iron, calcium ! Humans need these things.

They eat cat meat in The Division. There's no need for cages. Also there's mention of people going outside to hunt deer, but yeah.
