also i wonder if you have to be careful with sphynx kittens on account of they don't have any fur, like, i'd imagine that a lot of kitten play can produce nicks and cuts that might not otherwise happen with a layer of fur covering your wee little body. i know my arms don't hold up as well to kittens as other kittens do.

The part I have trouble with is that intellectually, I know that viewing normal things doesn't have the concept of framerate, and everything is smooth. And yet when I see that video, it seems to be moving faster than real life... and it just messes with me!

I wonder how much cats actually understand the concept of "that thing is the same kind of thing I am"
I dunno about cats, but apparently some scientists did a study with dogs to see if they could differentiate between "dog" and "not dog", and dogs are able to do it fairly regularly. Interestingly, the dogs were able to recognize something as "dog" even if it wasn't the same type of breed. So assuming cats are the same, a sphynx cat would probably recognize any cat as just another cat, fur or not (but freak out anyway cuz cats are weird).
(Study details here, it's obviously not exhaustive, but a neat study in concept!)
yeah dogs definitely seem like they can tell. But cats are pretty noticeably dumber than dogs, especially in areas that are mainly useful to deeply social animals like dogs and humans.
Cats don't seem to have a concept of actions having consequences. They understand if they jump into the bathtub they'll get wet, so they're aware of some kind of risk aversion, but a lot of dogs know the shit they're doing will get them in trouble with the hand that feeds them. If cats do know that, they are acting against their own self-interest every time they do some dumb shit, which for my roommate's cats, is every goddamn second of every day. They are funny, though.
