Been playing Malthael in QM. Seems like a coin flip on whether I'll be the only melee on the team, when I am I feel useless in most late game team fights. Should I just stop playing QM? I'm pretty anxious at getting flamed in draft for sucking.

The secret to draft is that everyone sucks at drafting.
Or you get people who queue draft because they want someone else to tank/heal for them and they will spam their picks regardless.
If you want to try it out, you're more than welcome to just queue for Unranked Draft and see how the mechanics work. Don't worry about getting flamed - the people who flame don't have opinions worth caring about.
The drafting in UD and SL are exactly the same, so once you get comfortable, if you want to try "competitive" play, then you should feel more than welcome to queue for SL. The important questions are: (1) Am I having fun? (2) Am I being a dick?
If the answers are "Yes" and "No" respectively, then the rest will fall into place (or not, who cares, nobody knows how to play this game lol).
I rarely see anyone talk in draft and you can always mute everyone.
Plus there are a ton of people who are terrible at this game at every rank of draft and that's not stopping them from picking bad heroes or not helping their teammates do anything useful.
If you think you'll have more fun playing draft, get in there, as yea malth can have really binary qm matchups.
Only caveat is maybe don't blind pick the hero you want if it really doesn't work with what everyone else picked, already got 3 melee, maybe don't take malth.
If your worried about getting stuck on a role you don't play well, just warn people in the draft if it's looking like you might have to.
"Not a great healer, happy to play x or y" then worst case if you end up healing it's their fault for whether happens next.

Malthael? Team fights? According to Ducks, you should just be going to merc camps nonstop all game.
Malthael soaks, gains rotational advantage by fast-clearing lanes with increased mount speed, and uses the extra time he generates to capture/steal camps, yeah. If the enemy solo laner is trying to match him, and gets caught out mid-rotation it's basically a death sentence after level 4, and particularly after level 7. He shows up to team fights long enough to score a pick with Last Rites and then goes back to macro.
Choosing to play him solo QM, or even in a small group with no Tank, often means you'll end up being the only melee, making you the team's frontline. And yeah, you're gonna have a bad time.
I've started playing Leoric lately, instead. He doesn't have the camp clear, but he's a functional main tank in a lot of scenarios and otherwise soaks just as effectively.

I started playing him after several games of tilting at teams not doing camps. I still end up grouping up for objectives and when I'm the only melee I try to frontline to terrible results.

Yikes, Maeiv ate a significant nerf.
EDIT: Roughly a 20% nerf to her waveclear, dang.

So much of there balance lately is how can we tweak this number to trick you into taking a bad talent, behold balance....
Buffs to firebat and malganis are welcome, probably don't make them any better since the issue is always going to be for useful their kit is versus the other teams kit.
Big Stukov buffs, at least for the build I usually play. I welcome this power.

And someone please tell me they forgot to put in changes to Sylvanas' DoT effect in the notes because changing the base damage of the initial W hit by 2 is fuckin hilarious otherwise.

That's kind of where the game's at now, they're still working on it but you can definitely expect more easy tweaks than big reworks or new characters.
That keeps the meta the same forever outside of new heroes

I mean, a problem with a lot of these things are that the kit isn't that great. The numbers are meaningless outside of either making it ridiculous one way or the other.
There are a few things I like, I like taking the CD reduction on Corruption at 7 on GD so there's that to look forward to.

Level 10
Rain of Destruction [R2]
Adjusted functionality: Now has a 1.5 second cast time. No longer requires Gul’dan to channel for its duration
Cast range reduced from 15 to 10
hey look it's the thing everyone's been saying it should do since forever!

The Escape Goatincorrigible ruminantthey/themRegistered Userregular
Targeted Excision [Trait]
Additional functionality: Also reduces the cooldowns of Stukov’s Basic Abilities by 1.5 seconds
oh fuck oh shit
Icefury Wand [Passive]
Cooldown reduction increased from 1.5 to 2 seconds
Storm Front [W]
Cast range increase reduced from 100% to 75%
Additional functionality: Now also increases the radius of Blizzard by 30%
some of these changes are really good but some of these changes have me questioning what the fuck they're doing
nerf Garrosh E by 2 seconds, buff shitty talents that don't matter (well, the level 1 E buff is good actually) and the end result is basically just that they nerfed Garrosh despite him already being on the lower end of winrate
Anduin changes sure sure, bold strategy nerfed and buffed, yep. sure. but then we mosey on down to level 16s aaaaaand holy nova gets a massive, whopping scaling increase of 5 whooo yayyy everyone cheer they fixed it whoo hoo
Kharazim probably just got fucking omega dunked because you can't fucking not go with 3 charges of Q, but you could still take increased E duration later on, but NOT ANYMORE
Zarya's Clear Out upgrade is a massive fucking nerf, the increased energy gain was THE REASON to take it.
Blaze has been outperformed by other heroes in the last few months, and these changes are intended to bring him a bit more back into the meta.
Yeah, no shit. Because you classified him as a Tank. Reclassify him as a Bruiser and he's fine. I'll take the straight up buffs, though, sure.
ETC
Guitar Hero [E]
Additional functionality: Basic Attacks now increase the duration of Guitar Solo by .25 seconds
Healing reduced from 50% to 40%
Block Party [Trait]
Physical Armor amount increased from 50 to 75
Nice try, but you're gonna have to do a lot better than that to get anybody to seriously consider taking anything but Prog Rock at 1.
Same thing with the Speed Metal buffs at 4; nobody gives a shit about anything but Loud Speakers, and for a good reason.
And same thing again with the Hammer-On buff; nobody gives a shit about anything but Pinball Wizard at 7.
We're talking about talents that all have 40%+ greater pick rate than the alternatives on their tiers; you have to do a better job of making those alternatives appealing. This isn't nearly enough.
Garrosh
Body Check [Active]
Slow amount reduced from 30% to 35%
No longer deals bonus damage or Slow amount based on Armor Up’s bonus
Additional functionality: Now causes enemies to receive 40% reduced Healing for the next 3 seconds
Okay, yeah. You may have actually finally sold me on Body Check.
Also, straight up buffs to Decimate? To be honest, it's already secretly just as good as Warlord's Challenge, and a lot of the Garrosh-Mains I talk to tell me it's generally the better pick in most situations.
These changes may come back to bite them in the ass.
Johanna
Condemn [W]
Damage increased from 55 to 58
Level 1
Hold Your Ground [Trait]
Cooldown reduction increased from 4 to 5 seconds
Shield bonus increased from 50% to 60
Level 4 Eternal Retaliation [W]
Cooldown reduction per enemy hit increased from .5 to .75 seconds
Maximum targets reduced from 10 to 8
Zealous Glare [E]
Shield Glare duration increased from .75 seconds to 1 second
More wave-clear on the best wave-clear Tank? Sure, fuck it, why not.
Big buff to Hold Your Ground, maybe worth taking over Laws of Hope in some situations now. Not sure. Hard to give up a low-CD 30% on-demand heal.
Eternal Retaliation buff's fine, but I can't imagine it beating out Sins Exposed any time soon. I get what they're going for, right? It's like giving Johanna alternate ways to wave-clear: you can spam Condemn with Eternal Retaliation, or you can pop Shield Glare / Sins Exposed and one-shot it with your (newly buffed) Condemn. I like Eternal Retaliation for what it is, I just don't think it's competing with Sins Exposed, which also adds significant impact to teamfights and helps shore up Johanna's pick potential.
Also, Zealous Glare is a level 7 talent, not a level 4 talent. So I'm assuming that's a typo and they didn't swap Zealous Glare with Sins Exposed or something.
Mal'ganis
We’ve nerfed Mal’ganis multiple times since his release, and he has fallen off a bit too much since our last round.
I consider having a Mal'ganis on my team to be an automatic loss, so yeah, maybe feeding him straight buffs for a few consecutive patches would strengthen the Tank pool a bit.
Muradin
Sledgehammer
Additional functionality: Enemy Heroes hit grant an additional stack of his baseline quest
I already thought Sledgehammer was great because it allowed you to basically one-shot Giant camps once you were properly stacked. Now it seems incredibly strong.
Stitches
Stitches like buffs. We like Stitches. We give Stitches buffs. When Stitches happy, you happy too!
Meh, call me when you bring full Slam build back.
Malthael
Level 10 Tormented Souls [R1]
Mana cost reduced from 100 to 20
Level 16 Mortality [W]
Damage increased from 6% to 8% maximum Health
Still not even close on Tormented Souls. Like not even in the right ballpark yet. Mortality is starting to look attractive, though.
Anduin
Bold Strategy [Passive]
Cooldown increase increased from 1 to 2 seconds
That's much more reasonable.
Kharazim
Buffs, I guess
You dense motherfuckers.
Zeratul
Zeratul has been a considerable threat, particularly at the higher levels of play. This change is meant to simply reduce his power. We chose to nerf Cleave because it is his least interactive way of dealing damage, particularly when combined with Wormhole.
I feel attacked.
Gul'dan
Rain of Destruction [R2]
Adjusted functionality: Now has a 1.5 second cast time. No longer requires Gul’dan to channel for its duration
Cast range reduced from 15 to 10
Hell, it's about damn time. Do something to curb the randomness of the meteors and it might actually get picked.
Lunara
Choking Pollen [Q]
Damage bonus to targets with Nature’s Toxin increased from 85% to 100%
Damage bonus to targets with 3 stacks of Nature’s Toxin increased from 135% to 150%
Here we go again buffing talents based on pick rate popularity, without considering how powerful they already are. Choking Pollen is already low-key ridiculous, but people fall back on Splintered Spear because of its ease of use.

lunara's q build is incredibly strong already yeah
like it will just fucking SHRED bitches. it covers a massive gaping hole in her kit, which is burst. i've toyed around with it a bit and i'm amazed more people ain't picking it. it's really goddamn good. you lose a lot of aoe but you will fucking destroy single targets.
Ducks your singing the praises of body check and decimate, and telling stories of muradin taking camps...
These are all cases where your in a situation you should never be in.
Body check is bad because of its tiny cast range. If someone is in that range, your throwing them.
If mura is taking a camp, the rest of your team can't show on the map and there is probably 3 other heroes on your team that should have been doing it instead
If someone is in that range, you're throwing them.
Sure, every 14 seconds 16 seconds. And a Wrecking Ball doesn't always lead to a kill, let's be honest. But a Wrecking Ball followed by a 35% slow and a 40% mortal strike absolutely could.
Decimate is easily on par with Warlord's Challenge. I'm not sure that's up for debate.
If mura is taking a camp, the rest of your team can't show on the map and there is probably 3 other heroes on your team that should have been doing it instead
Sledgehammer Muradin can basically walk up to a Giant camp and one-shot it. Sledgehammer Muradin can nuke a building or a Boss or an Immortal on Battlefield of Eternity for 1500 damage (and Rewind it at 20). The amount of PvE burst on Sledgehammer Muradin is fucking crazy. Like all you're really giving up is Thunder Burn, which is already a total crutch talent in my opinion -if you can't survive a teamfight with Avatar, Stoneform and a single Healing Static proc, missing that second Healing Static proc's probably wasted, anyway- I play with Sledgehammer because it gives Muradin ridiculous PvE burst and merc potential. And honestly, I always pick Thunder Strike over Healing Static, too, because Avatar / Stoneform's already OP as fuck survivability.
