Honestly, I think the next unit I paint yellow I'm just going to base cream and airbrush some iyanden yellow then pinwash. I tried airbrushing a bit of it when I was working on the Blastajet I posted in the painting thread and it seemed to glaze very well.

Oh good. I was going to ask you how you did that. I’m trying to get a friend started in the hobby and she likes the Bad Moon orks. I bought some contrast paints just for this.

    @italianranma

Yeah, after repeated attempts at getting a decent smooth coat of yellow I just gave up. I hit the whole thing from about 45 degrees up from the nose of the jet with a solid coat of (airbrushed) screaming skull then glazed the entire thing with iyanden yellow and whatever the actual yellow GW glaze is called. It evened the whole thing out, though I did lose a lot of the recess wash affect from having to do so many different coats.

Huh. Have Daemons been renamed to Legiones Daemonica?

This is one case where I fully support this rename, because it lets them friggin seperate "Daemon" the faction keyword and "Daemon" the regular keyword. This was such a mess when the 40k Daemon Codex came out, I'm glad they learned their lesson for Apoc.

I think that's the problem, and why they moved to their own made-up names. If someone who wasn't GW got the Middle Earth license, they might be able to bring a case against GW, or force them to abandon the name Eldar. Hasbro has historically had problems with Transformer names that were common words, too, when other companies were able to snap up trademarks that hadn't been slapped on any toys recently.

I'm pretty happy with the new Executioner main gun and optics ability. It's still going to cost too many points because they stuck transport space in it, but 4x 72" S10 D6/min 3 shots is not terrible.

Since it's all I have as a Primaris player, I'll definitely be grabbing one or two.

This is true...but also I don't think most of the names are nearly as dumb as people think? They are different, which I think is a lot of the angst...but I think Adeptes Astartes sounds cooler than Space Marines. Astra Militarum sounds cooler than Imperial Guard. IMO anyway.

I wish Gravis Captains had options. I'm doing the conversion for my Gravis Captain since I finally have the parts. Got a 30K power claw and used the claws on the gauntlet hand. Should have checked better before cutting, had to put a bit of green stuff in this small gap so it looked a little more natural. I kind of want to cut off the power sword and give him an axe but run it as a sword anyway cause fuck it. Frost axes look cool. Or maybe a 1 hand thunder hammer. Gotta find one.

Also, that new repulsor is pretty sick but if the $100 price tag is for real I think it will end up being a far off purchase.

Demiurg are not Squats. Squats still live on Necromunda and other places where a few exiles and adventurers managed to survive the Tyrannopocalypse. Demiurg are an entirely separate race of space-faring short humanoid asteroid miners who live entirely on vast mining vessels and don’t bike anywhere.

I thought they were the same? I know the Demiurg are organized into Brotherhoods and two of them joined the tau and sold them the ion tech, I know what their ships look like and some of their tech because of Battlefleet gothic {the board game} and the RPG books but I have no idea

I thought they were reconning out the Squats then rebooting them in favor of the demiurg. But the squat in necromunda squashed this ideal

No random charge range in apocalypse. Also, maybe I'm wrong, but it looks like you have to charge with a whole detachment and not single units.

So the new AdMech and Primaris vehicles go up for pre order along with the apocalypse stuff on the 29th.

Really, really wish the AdMech transport had space for 12, so we could slip a TPD in there to escort the Vanguard.

As-is I suspect it's going to be too expensive to really use, probably 80pts or so. A shame, as I was really hoping they'd be cheap enough to use as a reliable way to shove Fulgurites down someone's throat rather than relying on the Sytgies infiltrate (or Lucius deep-striking and praying you made the charge.)

The artillery build for the tank looks damn good, though. Probably swap out one of my Onagers for that.

I like how they are fleshing out the culture of Necromunda since it was a real generic city state before. I like how they show the bubble the gangs operate in compared to the day to day running of the city. Just some of the models

Been trying to sculpt some green stuff onto this shoulder pad to match the diamond pattern on Ragnar and I just can't seem to get it. This is a little frustrating.

Also not sure if it is worth trying to cut a cloak out and stick it to the back of this Primaris model or try to make one from green stuff which over never done.

A friend of mine and I busted open some of the Space Marine Heroes blindboxes, so now I have all of the models except for Brother Promethor (the plasma guy). I am probably going to try and track one down since I'm so close to having all 12 models, but I'm pretty happy that I have enough to make a full Tactical Squad with a couple of options.

The Demiurg were candidates to take over the “short tough honour-bound miner” archetype in the grand scheme of 40k but they are explicitly not the squats (who are abhumans and allies of the Imperium) and are a wholly alien race that abandoned planetary living ages ago in favour of wandering around in vast mining vessels. Then someone asked the fatal question “do we actually need this archetype in 40k?”
Turns out the answer was ‘not really’ and further development halted…

Speaking from some personal experience, I think the answer is deeply rooted in British culture. When I lived there in 2013 there was still a man employed by the government to raise and lower the gate at the train crossing... by hand.

Speaking of lost-tech from the Dark age of technology, observe this diagram of how faucets work:

I have heard rumor from a trustworthy source that having inventory in Memphis along with the switch to local currencies was the first step in a move that would have us all buying our resin in GW stores. Brexit initiated it and is also likely holding it up.

Granted we've been hearing rumors to that effect for years so who knows? Sure would be nice though.

Placed 23rd of 42 with two wins (vs Harlequins and chaos) and two losses (vs another Harlequins army and guard).

Pretty happy as my list wasn't a hardcore tourney list

(For reference, last year I placed 30/40, so today was a marked improvement)
