Comrades! Are you tired of living under an oppressive alien regime? Feel like punching some extraterrestrial nazis, and flinging milkshakes and/or bullets at them? Or do you simply grow weary of life and wish you could die a noble death, disintegrating under a hail of hot plasma? Then today is your lucky day, because the Resistance is currently recruiting
sacrifices volunteers for the
meat grinder war to liberate our beautiful planet, and we need YOU. Yes, you. Specifically you!
Many moons ago I did an XCOM: Enemy Unknown LP, and people here made playing that game way more fun, so now I'm gonna do it again with XCOM 2. The last one took me a year to complete because I was terrible, this one might take even longer because I've only gotten worse as I've got older, but it also might be over really quickly because I'm basically going in blind.
Make a sign up post if you want to go to war and star in a badly written XCOM fanfic. I will endeavour to make your soldier look how you want, if you give me a description.

Appearance wise, the most epic beard available, and some glasses.
I look roughly like this:
Steam
Lies!
You look like this:
Just paint me like a court Jester a complete eyesore begging to be removed from existence due to the sheer mockery of the colour wheel
As is traditional, Dutch people have to wear orange. Even when engaged in extraterrestial guerillla combat. Slicked back hair, glasses and a short beard.
A few things that make this more fun:
Enable the international voices setting. This is mostly for you, but having all the Xcomerinos babble in different languages is pretty neat
Go wild on cosmetic mods
Remember you can edit a soldier pool before you start a game, which will, with the right settings, pick scientists, engineers and soldiers from that list at random. No need to hand edit people in.
A full Xcom2 run with all DLC enabled, blind, is a pretty crazy and long ride. You'll be unlocking new things, good and bad, just about every map. Story maps tend to be long. I seem to recall 45-60 missions on wins? it's been a while.
The Mod "[WotC] Gotcha Again" greatly clarifies line of sight markers. All this information is given to a player anyway, just poorly. This mod reduced my "frustrated by making a bad decision because of UI" events by a lot. (Like how it's hard to judge a certain big purple swirly area of effect) It changes no actual gameplay. (There is an edge case issue where very rarely it betrays a pod that is 1 tile into the mist)
The timers in Xcom2 are pretty strict. Especially when difficulty increases. If you want to play a little more forgiving game, mod them down a few notches.
Not the first time the comparison has been made, believe it or not.
Oosik colors please. Orange, Navy Blue and/or Light grey. No face showing.
My XCOM self looks like this with one of the English voices
but feel free to go ham with what I'm wearing
D3 Steam #TeamTangent STO
Man from Poland, blonde hair and stubble, glasses, prefers colour blue.
thin face, cigarette, glasses, boonie hat, long sleeves, long pants
Always willing to throw myself into the sausage grinder for the good of humanity.
I look exactly like whatever the random character gen suggests when my name comes up on the list but with sunglasses
I look like this.
Leave me to the mercy of the RNG, but give me the best hat you got.
I missed this last time and want to die by sweet laser.
I look this way:
If you've got any halo armor mods, I'd like an ODST helmet.
Instructions unclear, Sgt. Bucketman ends up having a burger for a face
Something red and white, I think, keeping it Danish.
pvt. misc reporting for duty

i'll take glasses + the most anime hair you have
I look like Adam Scott, except about twenty pounds heavier.
grenadier Specialist if possible, I love those widdle drones. Just bald white dude w/ beard and glasses, gimme a french voice tho
As far as appearance goes, anything stereo-typically Canadian will work. Big, square beard and brush cut would be best, but feel free to have fun.
Make me a dude with cool green armor or a MEC trooper
I'm not too bothered about what I look like.
Make me a grenadier, since cover destruction is basically the entire XCOM 2 meta. Don't care about looks.
randomized Greek lady, if you would
Glasses and a short beard, palish with dark hair would be accurate, probably.
I look like my avatar, so should be pretty easy
Rather not rep the actual home country flag at the moment, so German lady with red hair is all I'll ask, customization-wise.
I've been perpetually in the process of maybe eventually playing a full game of xcom2 myself for the past... oh, ever since I got it. Never finished. Maybe this will get me to take that final step by proximity.
There's always room for one more in the crematorium.
Weapon must be melee cheeseburger.
Preferably as a Heavy Weapons Guy.
