The Irishman, where Joey P. looks like a fatter more rappin' Marty Score and they don't use actual songs for the trailers but hey, it's Marty Score, Netflix can't have him terrible:
A trap is for fish: when you've got the fish, you can forget the trap. A snare is for rabbits: when you've got the rabbit, you can forget the snare. Words are for meaning: when you've got the meaning, you can forget the words.
Going back to The Witch for a second...I'm the hugest coward in the universe, but even a glimmer of a religious horror angle kicks me out of suspension of disbelief instantly. It just makes it all feel super silly.
It's like, even alief just melts away instantly. The Conjuring is one of the most boring movies I've ever sat through because of this.
Meanwhile, nonsense like Banshee Chapter or Shadow People (2013) had me on edge for weeks.

The designs might be straight from Charles Addams, but everything else about this screams "modern semi-crappy kid's movie," in case you were wondering.
It seems unfortunate that that is going to be a generations first exposure to the Addams.
Maybe it'll be better than it looks. Probably I'll just watch the Raul Julia movies instead.

Holy hell.
Wasn't the whole "real world" bumping against the Addams family the point of... both live action movies?
I think the only time I laughed was when the cast came up and I saw Snoop Dogg as Cousin It, which makes that scene a lot funnier in retrospect.

It was in the first one, where a brain washed Fester showed up and kicked Gomez and crew out of their house before he recovered his memory.
The second, less so I think. Debbie was far more Addams than real world, and if not for the bad wiring job (or if she had given the family a chance rather than jumping straight to multiple homicide)... The summer camp parts, kind of, I guess? But the 1%er summer camp isn't exactly the real world. It has been a while since I watched the movies though. Probably need to correct that.
IIRC, the friction between "normal" and Addams was also a large part of the old TV series as well. But it's been even longer. Wonder if they're online anywhere.
Golden Compass? I have things in my fridge older than that.
Looks a lot better than the first attempt, and a series might give the story he room it needs, they had to absolutely gut the book and cut the whole ending to create a fake cliffhanger.
Edit: and, hey, the author already finished so the writers don't need to figure out what to do with the last season.

They didn't need to create a cliffhanger, book one literally ends on one! Gah now I am all mad again.

The music choices in the trailer are obnoxious, but the character/set design is good, the cast is good, the Addams vs. the normies theme is fine. Could turn out good I feel like.
As for who directed it, looks like it's by the people who did...Sausage Party. Which I've never seen.
So I finally watched the His Dark Materials trailer. I definitely watched the Golden Compass movie way back when, and while I was watching that trailer trying to think of how it might be different from the movie, I realized I remember absolutely nothing about the movie other than the girl in the snow with the armored bear. So there's that.
Watching this and feeling meh about how formulaic it is, I would have really loved to see someone make an Arrowsmith mini series because that did something different.
Huh, apparently that "The Hunt" movie has been shelved due to the recent mass shootings.
Reading the Wiki page, it seems I also missed that it's about Elites hunting "Conservatives", even with a Deplorables reference included. Which, uh, seems awfully tone deaf in regards to the reality of US politics.
Not that the reverse is any more realistic, or that my 'prey fights back' movies need to uphold ideal political narratives, but all the same...

That looks OK. It's a crime that Murphy has squandered his talents for TWO FREAKING DECADES. I don't get how someone that funny and charismatic can be such a tool IRL.

I've heard good things about Murphy and Snipes from the film critics I follow
I've heard good things about Murphy and Snipes from the film critics I follow
Is that a sarcastic good things?
Because the mention of Snipes instantly calls to mind the story that on Blade 3 he suddenly decided that he'd done enough acting and wouldn't doing any scenes with more than a grimace.
Then again, it might actually have been a case of acting brilliance, because the most watchable part of the movie was Ryan Reynolds trying ANYTHING to get a reaction from him and failing over and over.

You could barely tell since the trailer avoids showing any of their faces while they talk

So this show comes to Netflix today. It stars Iko Uwais of Raid fame. I'm definitely going to watch this.

Anyone watched it? Any good?
So I'm confused, DMX is not in this movie?
fix'd
I need to finish The Boys before I start this show.
Watched the first two episodes, good fight scenes but the CGI is like 1992 quality. The premise is kinda hokey.
