torn between paladin, because dank seal of command procs, and getting all the cool blacksmith gear..... but spending the next 2 years holding down "W".... and warlock... with engineering.... and being poor forever because engineering
If those are your reasons for Paladin I'd just go Arms Warrior. Give them the same gear and the Warrior will obliterate things without relying on RNG gimmicks
paladin benefits from the 10 gold mount instead of 100
Epic mount cost makes up for this bit of charity. Also, as I mentioned before the only worse class for leveling than Ret Paladin in Classic is Spriest. Waiting for SoC procs is awful

Paladins don't need to do the quest, they can buy epic mounts just like everyone else.
The paladin and warlock epic mount quests are still cheaper than the actual raw costs of epic mounts unless you literally don't have a guild that likes you or never picked up professions.
The paladin one felt a lot cheaper than the warlock one too. Warlock wanted you to go fucking everywhere and kill everything. Shit we three manned most of Dire Maul for a warlock in our guild on a late week night because they really wanted that mount.

I distinctly remember some talent trees being entirely useful useless as your main spec. Arcane mage, discipline priest, survival hunter. If you claimed to be one of those you were not invited to anything.
My friend is working on a roguelike game you can play if you want to. (It has free demo)
To be fair that's par for the course with all the Warlock demons. Go all around the world to find the quest giver, then travel to some other forsaken hole to shackle the demon, then run all the way back to the quest giver to make the summon permanent

in the very early game this was true. by 1.12, which is what this release is based on, every class had gotten some form of talent tree revamp, which helped tone that down a bit
there were still clearly "superior" mainline specs... but I think by 1.12 very few of them were truly garbage
You still wanted at least one disc priest for shields, but any more than that was iffy (unless like, multi tank fight that desperately needed more shields, which was rare)

The worst leveling class in classic is Druid, and it's not particularly close. Ret Paladin and Enhance Shaman are above average, as they're dps classes that can heal themselves between fights. Druids just do absolute garbage damage as feral, or use their whole mana pool every mob as balance, it's really not pleasant.
I wonder why they went all the way back to Vanilla when BC did so much for the franchise.
Probably more work than it would've been worth, but some sort of in-between, where you add in the rest of Azeroth but not Outland, would've been really cool.
Probably not Northrend, but it would be nice to get all classes to both factions

I believe the idea is to do both BC and Wrath at some point. Vanilla was a proof of concept that the original database could be reworked before Cata changed it all.
A lot of MMOs have a 'classic' scene now and they're doing quite well. So anything to prop up their numbers business wise is going to be done now.

The only 'classic' experience I would be interested in revisiting would probably be Wrath of the Lich King and even then only if I could just jump in as a Death Knight again.
Humor can be dissected as a frog can, but dies in the process.
my read is the Worst of the Worst will, because they actually want their dipshits to follow them....
but that second tier of streamer probably either won't, or will not trumpet it too hard prior to launch...
so good chance of dodging the biggest bullets at minimum
That's good, those are the problem ones anyways.
Avoid soda and asmon and you avoid 99% of the awful people on twitch anyways. As much as their content is fun sometimes, their followers are just the worst, if the beta is any indication.

I'll probably reserve my name on 3 realms, 2 pve, and 1 rp just as a fallback, I still expect most of the streamers to play pvp.
The people who mainly do arena now will probably go pvp. But none of them really have more than a couple thousand followers. The big streamers with tens of thousands of followers like soda and asmongold have already said they plan on going PvE because they dont want to be mercilessly camped by legions of the opposite faction anytime they are online.

funny, i'd expect them to have their own persona hit-squad several hundred players strong, or more

Even worse though, because back in those days PvE may have spared you from dying to the opposite faction, but good luck turning in quests when the NPC's are still fair game.
Ill probs end up pve with yall but a part of me yearns for the mmo open world non sense, I think I would love EVE like I do 4x games but that hardest part is bothering to learn so one day maybe not..
great lows may lead to great highs i'm not throwing shade but I ain't turning down this opportunity no way no how Y O L O P V P FOR L I F E

we'll likely still world pvp and battlegroup it up
the pve selection was mostly so the few of us who don't have a lot of time don't get ganked mercilessly and we can all still play together

I know better this time so I might do it again but that's down the road

*edit* name reservation goes live on August 12th at 6PM Eastern Time
There is also an open stress test beta going up later this week around Thursday, with a Level 15 cap...
3 weeks aaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ideally they'll all cluster on a select few servers instead of spreading out
but that second tier of streamer probably either won't, or will not trumpet it too hard prior to launch...

Will the servers have names instead of Classic 2?
Name reservation and server list go live on 8/12/19 at 6PM Eastern time.
If you are interested in playing with (some) of us on PVE Alliance in the <Sixteen Daggers>, hit up the discord, we're making plans now
https://discord.gg/K9mUhfX
therein you may find the answer to what exactly Sixteen Daggers refers to
No flying mounts and the scaling isn't completely ridiculous so it'll be fun
Unless everyone's playing a druid then I'll want to die
ez, its not my guild to run
@Infidel and @bowen are in charge
It’s eight rogues trying to get one raid slot
Just like vanilla

I don't value my time and that will be put to the test and I'll report the results
It's dumb as but I've wasted lots of time doing worthless shit already so fuuuuuck it
but if you get annoyed or bored we'll still be there
this is your last chance to test out the game and refamiliarize with old mechanics before release
If you're interested in Alliance PVE, there's a guild you can get involved in here: https://discord.gg/k6FvH8v
The guild will be picking a server over the weekend to name reserve on Aug 12
We'll be picking one probably on Sunday.
This server list is much smaller than I think anyone was expecting
those are some shitty server names not gonna lie
