Looking for interesting podcasts that deal with folklore, urban legends, paranormal, occultism, esoteric beliefs, etc. To a lesser extent maybe historical serial killers as well (H.H. Holmes and so forth) but hopefully with some sort of spooky ghost kind of angle.

I'd rather they be the type where people discuss the stories as opposed to dramatization or paranormal fiction.

Thanks in advance

Stuff to blow your mind overs quite a bit of this sort of subject matter, this episode about Cupids Leaden Arrow is a good example:

Or perhaps the ones tagged Monster would be up your alley:

They aren't a specifically occult/spooky podcast, but compared to the other podcasts I like that might cover this kind of topic here and there (Stuff you should know, Ridiculous History) They are more likely to explore philosophical ideas and not just give you a basic summary of dates/places/facts, even with a flare of poetry and literature quotes.

Last Podcast on the Left is a good one. There is a variety of topics: paranormal, true crime, conspiracy theories, extra terrestrials etc. The show is essentially two guys who research and talk about the topic with a "straight man" who has done zero research and is responding to the topic as if it is new to him (it usually is new to Ben).

They have some good episodes on Shoko Asahara and Aum Shinrikyo as well as LR Hubbard and Scientology that go pretty deep into their person histories.

A bit of an irreverent take on the paranormal, think South Park meets Coast to Coast A.M.:

It's tangentially related, but the topics are (or can be) close. Check out Dan Cummins's podcast, Timesuck. He jumps around topics a lot (and tends to go on serial killer streaks lately), but he's hit some of your interests. He did Belle Gunness recently, and he did Sweeny Todd (sic?) about a year ago.

That being said, he doesn't really do paranormal-type stuff. He tends to focus on individuals or major events.

Although it's more of just a creepy story kind of thing.

The Boogie Monster podcast does have topics of paranormal / supernatural types, but is hosted by a couple of comedians so they do tend to meander a fair bit. Might be worth a check down the list of episodes if there are any folklore topics that interest you. Hosts are Kyle Kinane and Dave Stone.
