I'm trying to remember how useful the Tailoring profession was end-game in Classic.

Obviously it's good for making bags, but I can't remember if there was anything good pre-raid that you couldn't just find off a dungeon drop.

You could make FR gear for your guild

    And bags

    and FR gear

    And bags!

Oh yeah, all of you going Alliance for the first time, be wary in Westfall. There's a particular mob there that had the highest kill rate of players in Classic and it's not even elite.

    Defias Pillager comes for you

  • BahamutZEROBahamutZERO Registered User regular
you can get fully kitted out in dungeon drops, but getting the things to drop is the hard part. Crafted gear was useful for filling holes where you don't get drops while leveling at least.

The best robes in the game pre-BWL are crafted.

I think post BWL warriors do the best damage of the classes because of just how much they scale to their gear.

I'm curious why all of the PA classic guilds seem to be Alliance so far.

PvE is bigger than PvP, plus people have had enough time to figure out that actually Alliance racials are pretty fantastic

Do... do people not play Horde PvE?

I mean I liked playing Horde in Classic

But I also played it at my own pace and didn't really care about balance stuff too much.

Even throwing aside the absurdity that is human melee dps, BoK, Blessing of Salvation, and cleanse are absolutely ridiculous compared to what shamans bring to the table.

I'm curious why all of the PA classic guilds seem to be Alliance so far.

can't speak for the other PA groups, but for me, the bias toward alliance is generally...

    - The cities look nicer, are better organized, easier to travail, and just generally GOOD
    - On average, the alliance races, in my opinion, are better modeled and characterized, on almost every dimension. They more closely evoke the WC3 themes they are based on.
    - They have a significantly more pleasant and varied early game experience that helps me stay engaged (holy shit the Barrens sucks so bad)
    - City proximity to well over half the end game content

In total it's 80% aesthetic 15% practical and 5% gameplay....

So much Horde stuff just looks terrible in 1.x and I don't want to look at it

I guess? I suppose the balancing never made much of a difference to me on the whole since I was pretty casual.

the origin of the ancient alliance dev bias meme is that they spent 4x as much effort on the alliance because they thought they could swing around and do that with the horde afterwards and then whoops it's launch day

It's funny to cause the game should be easier cause were less dumb

I can say from putting about 14 hours into the stress test over the weekend that the biggest surprise with Classic is how many warts don't exist, rather than how many warts there are. Like, it's still WoW. It still plays like WoW. It's just a different WoW.

I had a blast and I honestly didn't know what to expect.

that was the meme, and I believe it. Exhibit A: the ridiculous charlie brown shirt pattern they used to crop out Undead's armor to expose their skeleton

enjoy looking at that for 3 years!

honestly the racials don't factor in for me at all. they do matter, but I don't play the game on any level where those will make the difference for me in my outcomes. i chose NE because I think I can do funny things with shadowmeld, but that's not... a motivating factor for being alliance

I liked the Horde stuff on the whole, hell I liked the Barrens alright. I'll probably roll up another Troll Hunter to play solo on another PVE server.

Horde onyxia key quest was like

"hey this dragon is messing shit up uh....go kill some dragons and come back to me, cool"

Jailbreak for alliance, comparatively, is the longest most stupid quest with the best ending to it in almost all vanilla

WC3 established the Barrens to be a huge goddamn area, and given that it's the only geography that WC3 really emphasized at all, they had to make it a huge goddamn area.

The one upside is that horde could kill the Ironforge leader by climbing up the geometry and going to old ironforge

I will say, and this isn't really a WoW classic thing but a Blizzard/WoW thing in general

I'm still annoyed that female trolls look so different from male trolls (and I mean orcs and tauren also but for me, mostly trolls). I mean I don't even mean the face really, smaller tusks/less pointy facial features, fine but dammit, I want lanky, towering, stooped female trolls.

I liked the huge area of the Barrens and Stranglethorn Vale.

I mean you can hardly feel like your character is lost in the jungle if you're always just minutes away from civilization.

    STV: good
    Barrens: bad

the difference? roughly the same difference as driving on a highway in Norcal vs. driving on a highway in Kansas.

Back in vanilla after a failed attack on the X roads someone left their body for months as a landmark to find her body. So it was easy to say it's the hut near Leonheart's body

My favorite gag was when someone made a character named "MankriksWife", then died and deliberately left their body right in front of Mankrik.

Cheapest source of endgame Enchanting materials by far. Eternal Essence and the rare shards were worth bank

I got the names Luigi, Chimichanga and Food. I wanted Bowser and Mario but either someone snaked them or they're not allowed, which would be odd, considering I have Bowser on live.

That was my experience. Even little things like going to the class trainer and being like oh snap rank 2 fireball?! Now were cooking. Getting a quest then being like “wait who tf an i looking for?” And having to actually read a quest. And then going out to find the objective instead of 12 arrows and a geographic area mapped out for it. Also i like being able to chat in general while leveling instead of it being completely solo.

Like you said, its the same game, but different

we just broke the 40 man mark on Pagle, our casual raiding outlook is looking up

one minor detail, we have a hilarious over-abundance of healing, and we're light on DPS

if you've been on the fence and want to be mainline DPS... we're hiring. Particularly in need of a couple of warlocks, fury warriors, and rogues

I cannot believe that we're talking about Classic and a shortage of Rogues at the same time.

I still have a few people that are like 98% sure they're going to play and play DPS, one's a warlock I know that for sure.

The other two might be dps warriors.

Then there's a few others I'm unsure of, or if they'll play at all.

not a doctor, not a lawyer, examples I use may not be fully researched so don't take out of context plz, don't @ me
