Worst thing about personal loot is that stupid addon that whispers/announces what loot people get/are wearing.

THAT'S A FIFTY D K P MINUS!
Humor can be dissected as a frog can, but dies in the process.
Is Master Looter going to be a thing or will it keep the current loot options? Master looter was terrible, and having "guild councils" to figure out who should get stuff was also terrible.

I really just can't fathom how people don't understand the system. Such people HAVE to be trolls.
If you NEED an item - as in "this item is better than what I am currently using and I will equip it immediately on THIS CHARACTER" - then you roll need.
You roll greed in almost EVERY OTHER SCENARIO.
Wanna disenchant? Greed.
Wanna give it to your alt? That's a greed.
Wanna sell it on the AH? What exactly do you think "greed" means?
Wanna hang onto it for "cosmetic reasons"? GREED.
The only exception is if someone might need it for their off-spec. Like, if a warrior is tanking and a great two-hander drops or something, I'm sympathetic to the idea that they shouldn't be excluded from getting their DPS gear just because they happen to be tanking at the moment.
A gripe and idea
Why don't they just wipe Barov and put it up there as a server? I feel having 6 pvp servers is silly as there is a lot of people who don't want to play on one. What I am afraid of since I have not picked a server yet is they will have them up for the naming freak out how little people signed up for pvp and then roll out Barov or so to alleviate the pop of several of the servers when it goes live
I thought this was silly when i first read it. After blizzard needing to open additional pvp servers for name reservations alone in multiple regions, i think its safe to say pvp servers are much more popular for classic. Are any of the pve servers even high pop now?

I did Ateish because my brother and flipped and ro sham bo'd it for it was a choice of Ateish or Myzrael which I was not fond of. I went and saved my warlock's name because I was paranoid. So I feel I commited myself to that server
Still I will be upset if they bring out Barov.
It's kinda weird how raids were so much simpler back in classic, but raiders were so much more tenacious. Basic as they were, I remember raids banging their heads against the same boss over and over again for hours until they got it.
Now raids are much more complex, but people have no patience for learners.
Hours on a single boss is still how people roll in guild groups when they schedule a weekly raid night, it's just random pick up groups that don't want learners and fall apart after one wipe. I think it took our guild over 130 attempts to down heroic kil'jaeden back in legion, probably a month or so of reclearing up to him for more gear from the rest of the bosses then spending several consecutive hours mushing our faces into him on the second raid night. Pretty high up there on attempts for heroic gul'dan as well.
I wonder how many of those are actually planning to play vs just reserving your names in case you ever do want to
for each person just reserving because they can, there's got to be at least a person who hasn't subbed yet because to heck with that
overall feels like Blizzard is doing what IMO they should, which is stretch these servers to the limit so that when things do cool off, the servers settle into a fine natural equilibrium
launch day will suck for most of us as a result though, RIP
Also gotta figure there are probably a bunch of people who dont care about reserving a name and are waiting for launch to resub. I think the servers are really going to be struggling for a while. At least i live in the middle of the country and could play east or west with almost no difference.

Yeah I'm one of those people.
Self-righteousness is incompatible with coalition building.

While on the one hand, I think you're right, on the other hand, you could end up dissuading a lot of people from playing because Blizz won't accomodate the game with enough servers. Hopefully "I gave up on Classic because they needed more servers" is not a thing people are saying 3 months from now!

Im only subbed because i wanted to do the naga stuff in retail. Ive occasionally done arena or bgs once i got flying but i barely play it. Im going to play a bunch in classic though and will probably level characters on a few servers and see how things shake out population-wise.

Are there quests that eventually lead to doing dungeons? It has been so long and I don't remember. It is such a normal thing in retail.
I'm trying to figure out what dungeons my group should hit up once we start leveling. So far it is me as the Warrior, my friend is playing a Priest, and my brother is playing a Warlock.

Keep in mind that in vanilla (and therefore classic):
- the dungeon quests were not necessarily obtained in the same zone the dungeon is in, and some might be halfway across the world. Likewise for turn in
- the dungeon might have 5 quests, one you get inside, 2 in same some, 1 in an adjacent some, 1 hallway around the world
- there might be a chain of a dozen other quests before you get a particular dungeon quest
- the zones may be different level recommendations (i.e. 30-35 vs 35-40)
- some of the quests might have higher lvl requirement to be acceptable than others for safe dungeon
- dungeons themselves might have a large level spread of monsters inside. Black Rock Depths was the severest example of this, with trash near entrance being 39, and last boss being 60 (and trash in front of him 58 and 59). BRD quests themselves ranged from lvl 38 to lvl 60 requirement, and some were chains where you get it in say Stormwind, do the thing in the dungeon, turn in Sw, get followup back in BRD, turn in Sw, and back and forth like that a dozen times.

This was always a real downer when you tried to share that quest with someone in your group and they hadn't done the lead up quests.
Or if the quest was something non boss related and you had to convince your group to hold up and stand around for a bit while you dug up tubers in RFD or whatever.

Awesome, thank you for the dungeon advice. I'm really excited to run my old favorites with friends to see how they like them.
It is also gonna be a new experience because I was an Alliance Rogue in classic and this time I'm doing a Horde Warrior.
I'm stoked.

it is super trivially easy to spin up additional servers if demand warrants it, we live in the age of server scalability and virtualization. They just have to be conservative with opening new servers because they're trying to guesstimate where the post-launch rush of population will taper off to.
Also I think it's going to be hilarious to convince people who never touched vanilla or never did MC to jump in the lava to get in.
"No, really... you jump through this window into the lava. This isn't a troll"

Then after that you tell them to look into the window in MC and use the entrance to convince them it also isn’t a troll.

Welp. Got the wife and I new laptops to play on. She’s pretty pumped as we used to play together all the time when we were first married back in 2004. Looking forward to this I think - I’ll help her get her lock mount just like I did last time.

Still I have no idea how to hook up my old hard drive from this era {it uses the old connection hybrid with a 1gen sata style} But I found it funny people are breaking out or selling the wow keyboard
Hmm playing around with the talent calculator on wowhead https://classic.wowhead.com/talent-calc
I have no idea what I did my warlock/rogue as. I remember bits and pieces but what exactly and wow I navigated the trees is beyond me

There are! This guide is very useful for this: https://classic.wowhead.com/guides/dungeon-quests-classic-wow
Note that there are tabs on each of those dungeons, for different factions as well as class quests!
