Hello, I am Heaven. You may have seen me and my friend Adil last year at PAX West in our Pearl and Marina cosplay. Well this year we're going to really get into character and put on an Unofficial Splatfest for you!
Where and when? The Handheld Lounge at 8pm to 10pm on Saturday 8/31 (following the Splatoon 2 Tourney). We’re probably actually going to be starting closer to 8:15, to give time for the Splatoon 2 Tourney to end and the 1 2 Switch Tourney to begin. And depending on attendance and how psyched everyone gets about it we might go longer. A lot of this is up in the air right now but we hope to nail it down as the event approaches. You can definitely come late or leave early, so don’t worry about it.
What do I need? A Switch with Splatoon 2! We're going to be using wireless LAN play via The Shoal, so you don't need an internet connection. We know Switch wireless can be a little janky, especially with all the interference of the convention center, so we’re doing what we can to minimize that, without requiring everyone to bring their own ethernet adapter.
What is the theme? We're not sure yet! Please give us suggestions for things that PAX attendees are divided on, but are lighthearted enough that no one’s actually mad about. Current frontrunners are things like Mario 3 vs Mario World, retro gaming vs modern gaming, physical vs digital, etc.
Why should I trust you? I don't know! But we both have worked many PAX booths (for Fangamer if you need to know) and I have won a bunch of PAX tourneys so I know all about sportsmanship. All you have to lose is time, and what are you using that on? Other PAX events?
What can I get out of this? The glory of winning for your team! And we might have some stuff to give away as well... (though this is all kinda last minute, so don’t expect anything too crazy).
What are the in game specifics? We're still working on this but it's definitely going to be splatfest turf war, 4 to a side, any weapons and equipment, and stage will likely be chosen at random (including shifty station)
If you have any further questions or comments, please go ahead!
