+1 for woods for standing in or intervening when attacking
+1 for shooting at a target with partial cover. If you have partial cover you don't get a penalty for shooting at something that doesnt
The Sword of Light regiments are the main Heels and Jobbers for the Draconis Combine.
Main exceptions I think are 1st and 5th (Sorensen’s Sabre’s parent unit) who tend more toward being Faces (in the event that the Genyosha & Ryuken are too busy or didn’t exist yet).

So I had this thought, but hadn't gotten around to it yet, then saw it on Reddit:
Holy fuckballs. I mean, I intuitively knew the new AWS was Chonky, but damn.
Now the scale modeler part of me is screaming inside, because I can't reconcile which size is right anymore. So I need to go back to burying that part of me in model terrain work to make it feel better.
@Nips@DaMoonRulz If you ran a game of Alpha Strike on Tabletop Simulator like HOTAC would you have each player be one mech in the lance, or give each player their own lance for a campaign?
So with the Alpha Strike cards that come in AGoAC, what else do you need, ruleswise, for that? Like, do you use the same to-hit rules as the regular game?

I just want to know what I can write on the included alpha strike cards with
Based on their finish I think you'd be good to go with a fine wet erase marker, like a Staedtler.
Edit: I tested with a small dry-erase marker, a thin Staedtler Lumocolor wet-erase, and a thicker Expo Visa-Vis wet-erase. The dry erase left more residue when I erased them one by one. The finish is cardstockier than I remembered, so you could always just sleeve the cards and draw on them with anything you want. I think I'll do that.

I did a dry erase and it left some black gunk in the little recesses. I shouldn't care as much as I do, but I hate my stuff getting gunked up.

Just do what I do:
Always print off cards from the MUL, and never use the nice glossy color ones I bought, even though I've bought like four different packs of the things.
Ummm....so yeah. It's all in good fun! Until detailed spreadsheets are involved? Then it's what, a vocation? I'm not sure what to call this, but it's not a problem! Nope!
@Nips do you put the metal IK designs onto a base before painting or after? I'm guessing before, but want to verify.
I have always based my miniatures before painting. Doing it after is, like, a Pro-grade skill that I haven't worked myself up to yet.
Also, for figs like the IK minis, that lets me anchor them soundly to the base so I know they won't be top-heavy versus the base size or loosely-connected or something.
Like that Kodiak I just posted; that sucker's just about welded to that base, and it's on a larger-than-normal hex. I'd hate to have to figure that out after the paint's on.
Hooked my young Mechwarriors with a game of Alpha strike. Basically gave them the start to Crescent Hawks, they are in the training school, little do they know the clans are coming to ruin their day.
The Locust survived way longer than I thought it would, that +3 to hit is nice. But... when their Thunderbolt punched it in half was when their light switch turn on. Next round they took down the opposing Catapult with a 12 roll and an ammo explosion. Next mission is lights taking down an assault.
It is fun when the kids are built in Battletech buddies!

Yes! Protip: Start grooming them early!
She knows how to throw a die, and just (independently) got interested in all these little robots Daddy has...
You know what Story Expansion I want for Battletech PC?
We get plenty of Clan Invasion stories, I want a story set during the Star League Civil War where you can fight for one side or the other and at the end of it you have the option to follow Kerensky or not
I’ll admit that I’ve always wanted to sit down and read through that scenario pack for the alternate history Star League
The one where Kerensky sticks around? It's pretty neat, and not super long to get through. It's also cool to see how they handle the tech curve; IIRC things don't necessarily reach Clantech levels, but stuff that naturally came out of IS tech advances (RACs, MRMs) show up when they do in the main timeline.

Iirc he gets assassinated before the exodus happens but yeah, the SLDF never leaves. Mostly because I keep hearing about how certain character show up in alt universe interpretations (like Ulric Kerensky).
Also the fridge horror moment when you realize the PCs may have jumpstarted Clan and Omni tech depending on what mechs they brought back with them.

Wait, what is this you speak of? Is it something I can go read now? Or purchase?

It’s called “Empires Aflame” and Catalyst has it up on their site:
Also linking the alternate history or far future texts...do people mostly just ignore the Dark Ages stuff that happened after the Jihad and stick with Battletech's version of Game of Thrones Season Four? Or is it because the Dark Age look and mechs are pretty far outside what the majority are into?
So do we think there's any chance they'll release the 3d printing templates for any of the 'mechs? Or is there a chance folks with 3d scanners may scan them in and upload them somewhere? Random thought.

But then there might come a day that I have to actually play the bastards. :?
Also I'm considering getting shark teeth for the Oosik Catapult, because drunken mercs. Damn these decals.
They also have the Kentares flag, which I'll have to research more since you folks mentioned it.
Ebay Link
Fighting Pirannha Link
Assuming 2 mechs are exchanging fire.
Are the terrain to hit modifiers the same for incoming and out going fire? Even if at the edge of the woods? Same with partial cover?

Maybe I'll make a lance of 2nd Swords and a lance of Rasalhaguans and call it a day.
Make a 9x9 board of the 3D boards and have bases in the corners for some Capture The Flag.

Problem solved!
My boy Tankula and his buddy CPLT-C1
Debating a dry brush on the catapult. It didnt go so well on the tanks.
Everyone loves the Capellans, right? Syn's Hussars, also known as the 2nd Liao Hussars, later known as Yi's Hussars.
And thus, my goal to have at least one unit painted for each Great House is complete. 🤪
Because I love all my special snowflakes.
Even the authoritarian, fascist ones.
The new Kodiak II miniature is freaking amazing. Extra so when you convert it into an O.G. Care Bear.
I'm just glad we can be a good influence on poor spending habits for a sweet game.
I've never been known for my high willpower.

Say hello to my little friends
Generic tank lance that can be used as stand ins for any number of lighter tanks. They're small compared to the mechs. 30-35 tons at most.
