My dad showed me this really fancy bottle of sake he bought in Okinawa in 1974 and the lacquered drinking box it came with, telling me it is potentially worth 20 grand. How do you even look this shit up?

This was a 72 year old Macallan single malt scotch.

So a whisky that's been in a cask since 1946...

This is insane. Not only is the whisky itself basically priceless but it was bottled in a crystal decanter nestled in a hardwood box with a legit gold clasp at the top, which itself was wrapped in a black velvet cloth.

    Rich people are crazy.

I have a bottle of gin and sake I am not tempted to drink as the gin is etching the bottle and the sake is a odd yellow

I know if I had access to the level of wealth some of the silly geese do I would not be so in your face about it. As there are tons of people that need help a leg up or such
As I say in the D&D subforum we are in a era of social, economic and political change and like many in the past it's just going to be ugly

Whenever I see something advertised or made mention of that has such a ludacris price tag, all I can imagine J. K. Simmons dressed in a 1970s yellow and brown blazer and matching tie with a cheap cigar burning in his hand, shouting at the top of his lungs in his J. Jonah Jameson voice, “YA LIKE FANCY SHIT!? YEAH, YA DO!”

I laugh at a lot of inappropriate times.

at least you're not in Midway, the worst airport I've ever experienced, food-wise

They've actually been revamping a lot of their food options lately.

I haven't eaten there yet myself, as its my home airport and I just go home instead, but there's a bunch more stuff happening in Midway these days.

I went through either two or three years ago, I forget, and it was honestly embarrassing

it was like I'd gone back to SeaTac in the mid 90's

Oh yeah this is all very recent

Like, I fly through Midway several times a year, because it's a way more pleasant experience than O'Hare, and these updates only started like a year and a half ago and have begun to finish within the past couple of months but there are still some significant under construction zones

oh yeah in terms of the overall experience everyone says Midway is a million times better than O'Hare, that's well-documented

    the food sucked, is all

if it doesn't anymore, that's great, because next time I visit that's probably where I'm gonna fly into

I asked my parents to send me my Bb trumpet they've been holding onto cause I wanna try joining a community orchestra.

I haven't played this trumpet in 10 years so it needed a service, so my dad took it to a brass specialist and offered to trade my Other trumpet (a concert C) for the service.

They told my dad the Bb is a great horn, and the service would cost about $200, but no way would they take the C as payment because the C is easily worth over 3 grand.

I bought that trumpet in 2002 for $1,200. How the hell has it more than doubled in value?

Anyway they're gonna sell it and send me the money with my Bb.

Scarcity- typically C trumpets are owned by the music ensemble/school and shared so there are very few new ones manufactured anymore

I should probably get some new trumpets/fluges

so i got my facebook skateboard for $20. the seller was literally down the road, i got to skate home with my son in his plastic TMNT half-shell running behind. it was awesome

i have some extra pocket money, should i:

    - buy a new deck and swap out these nice trucks and wheels onto something like a glorious heron
    - throw out this $20 board and get this in honour of my son
    - get control on ps4
    - like put it in the mortgage or something responsible and lame

I wouldn't think they would be any more scarce than they were 17 years ago.

It is a very nice trumpet, though. A Bach. Made in the real Bach factory in Germany. It's 40 years old. They seemed to think it's more collectable now than back then.

Good instruments will appreciate with age, though like you I would have thought the entry price for something in that class would be closer to 10k than 1k. But hooray!

I had a horrible teeths dream last night where I could feel myself cracking one of my teeth but instead of not biting down and cracking my tooth I bit down even harder while in complete misery and shock at what was happening.

It still gives me the willies.

I also have cake. Well, had. What with the eating and the not having thereof.

I am currently using a free app called Galaxy Tarot on android

There are ads but on the whole I find the presentation pretty neat and they are using the classic Rider-Waite art for the cards. There are also descriptions for the cards but I am not sure how legit those are.
