I don't find Zinetsu's gimmick endearing, however I understand it. I mean how often in these shonens do you have a character that genuinely does not want to do this job, but hes doing it reluctantly through duty and obligation. its kind of refreshing to see one of these character shaking in his boots at the idea of fighting creepy demons. He does get a little better after backstory reveal, but hopefully by the time you are caught up you will endure him as comic relief with a side of awesome.
I like KonoSuba a lot as well but partly because of things like that I don't generally recommend it to people unless I know they are fine with anime like that.
What I do always recommend is "A Place Further than the Universe"
Go watch that. It is great.
I cannot argue in good faith against these points about Konosuba, I still like it a lot though except for the succubus episode
I like that episode because it's oddly positive about sex work. Like nobody did anything wrong and It was consensual. Aqua was just being a racist shit
I have a podcast now. It's about video games and anime!Find it here.
The succubus episode was nowhere near as bad as the choker episode.
The succubus episode would not have been nearly so bad without the bath scene featuring Kazuma being awful. Especially since Darkness for once was not into it.
The choker episode was terrible for similar reasons.
I do hope that they de-gimmick Zenitsu some eventually
I get the gimmick, it's just, don't make me pay for cool stuff later with lame stuff now
anime may not be for you...
Nah, anime is fine. And also not fine at the same time. By which I mean: there is so much of it being produced and so many different target audiences with wildly different tastes that there's no way you'd like all of it. Or even most of it, for that matter. It definitely helps to know which types of shows do / don't appeal to you, but that's something that you get with experience. Personally, I've soured on shows (like Demon Slayer) aimed at the shonen demographic in recent years, with Hunter X Hunter being the only exception. I wish I could include My Hero Academia in the exceptions, but the only arc I actually liked was the Stain arc and then the author did an interview saying he would never write anything like that arc again. Go figure. Even the much-lauded FMA Brotherhood lost me somewhere in its teens. They're not bad shows, heck some of them earn near-universal praise, but I've come to know what I like and it lies elsewhere. It's OK to have personal tastes and biases in entertainment.
God I’m such a sucker for Death Note’s dumbass 10-dimensional chess bullshit
I’m approaching about halfway through it and I’ve never gotten to the Near and Mello stuff before, I’m curious how it’ll play for me, as I understand it most people think it gets way worse in the back half

Its a rare situation where the ending of the Japanese live action movie is way better

Oh you're about to get to a particular character and I am very interested to hear what you think of him.

So I mentioned this before but I was on my phone so didn't really have time to explain shit. So kaguya-sama wants to be confessed to has a whole bunch of references to the Bamboo Cutter's Daughter story. That story basically goes that an elderly childless couple cuts open a piece of bamboo and there's a tiny girl inside. She grows up magically fast, beautiful and smart, and wow everybody wants to woo her. So she gets 5 suitors, but since she just wants to take care of her elderly parents, she gives each of them impossible tasks. Some suitors give up, others die in the attempt, whoops. Then the emperor asks her to marry him, and will take care of her parents, but while she does like him back she has to go back, because she's actually a princess from the moon or something. It's often called the first sci-fi story, though I think that's pretty flimsy.
At any rate, Kaguya from "wants to be confessed to" has some of those same Kaguya hime qualities. She's brilliant, beautiful, and when it comes to romance she comes up with sneaky plans. Her parents are, well, cold and distant.
Miyuki Shirogane is a direct name reference to the fourth suitor, Ootomo no Miyuki. He lives in a more modest home than the other suitors, and travels simply. He has to journey to a distant land to go find the jewel in the head of a dragon, which in this case is probably Miyuki's plan to go to America.
Chika (Thousand flowers) Fujiwara (Wisteria Fields)'s name is a reference to the second suitor, who was tasked with finding a jeweled flower branch. Chika and her sisters are all flower names. Just like how the suitor tried to cheat and make a fake branch, Chika is constantly trying (and failing) to cheat at cards.
Ishigami is a reference to another suitor, who's tasked with finding Tsubame no Koyasugai, a "Swallow's Cowry." The suitor spots a cowry shell in a swallow's nest, climbs up the tree, and then gets bird shit on him and falls to his death, which is rather reminiscent of Ishigami's habit of dramatically falling down stairs...
If you hadn't already noticed, the swallow's cowry is directly referenced by the name of Ishigami's crush, Tsubame Koyasu.
Ai Hayasaka, is themed after the star envoy, who comes to Earth to tell Kaguya-hime that her parents want her to come back. In the manga she's usually wearing something star-themed.
Miko Iino is named after another suitor, Ishidzukuri no Miko. Her best friend Kobachi Osaragi is a punny reference to the stone begging bowl of the Buddha that the suitor was sent to find.
There's probably other references in there too, but that's all I know of. We're still missing one suitor, and the student council is still missing one member, so...?

HxH is one of those shows where I suggest people to skip 100 some episodes because the one story arc is one of the best ever created.

anime may not be for you...
Zenitsu is propably one of the most obnoxious characters I'v ever seen.
Early One Piece Ussopp was infinitely more tolerable than him!

Its horny but in a way where nobody involved is horny in the same way and it just adds to how stupid the whole situation is
They have made her so unappealing to me I don't see her as anything but that weird pushy drunk girl at last call you don't want anything to do with.
What I do always recommend is "A Place Further than the Universe"
Go watch that. It is great.

Oh definitely.
I feel that one doesn't get brought up as much because it is an OVA and those weren't on Crunchyroll until recently I think?

e: yep they must have added this later with no fanfare, I never saw this

They revealed it a bit further than I thought they would, though
Killua seems cool, I’m sure he’s got an actual reason to take the hunter exam besides “I thought it would be fun.” though
I didn’t expect the specifics of Kurapika’s reason to be so gruesome, or that Leorio would actually have a fairly relatable reason for wanting money
Still enjoying it! May watch more tonight, depending on if I actually can or not.
Yeah.
He's particular alright.

I want them to get to Greed Island because I wanna hear the dubbed versions of the post-episode card description skits.
I'm really enjoying it.
Gon is very similar to Midoriya
Oh.
Oh no.
