Oh Jesus if it's from the original dub then they can just get the fuck out of here with that nonsense. Like, you could hang any one of us in this thread with the shit we said fifteen years ago.

Hell I’d rather not look back at what anybody said in the Kai era.
So uh, don't go on Twitter today if you don't want to hear Hercule talk about his cock.
A bunch of previously unheard recording sessions got leaked today, that have the cast reading off DBZ hentai and making rape, pedophilia, and incest jokes in character. It fucking sucks, and now all the shitters got it trending on Twitter and are using this to show how Funimation is "wrong" and "hypocritical" for firing Vic Mignogna. Goddammit.
edit: grammar and clarification
I mean, Mignogna didn't get fired for making poor taste jokes. He got fired for repeatedly creeping on underage female fans.
I don't see anything coming of this.
I do, because now Japan is looking at them. That could be very bad

Eeeehhh
Like Toei is shitty but only when it comes to them making money and I severly doubt this makes any noticable impact on DBZ revenue in the US
I didn't know it was an older cast, my bad.
I don't think garbage jokes are comparable to sexual abuse either, but I was just saying what the driving narrative was that I've been seeing everywhere and why it blew up.
It's the same voice actors, but they've been doing Dragonball Z dubs for Funimation for 20 years so it's pertinent how old these recordings are. Back in the 90s and 00s "hilarious" dub outtakes where the voice actors are saying dirty jokes and being homophobic were pretty popular, as that sort of thing was in general in those times, and I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt if these are 15 year old recordings and the actors no longer think that shit is funny.

So I've discovered my fiance watched all of Dragonball Z way back when.
Now that my jaw's done dropping, I should ask; would folks here recommend outright watching Super, or watching the two movies that it covered and then picking up on the right episode after that content?

Eh...there are some funny/nice filler episodes in the first two arcs of Super, but I think just the movies and then skip those two arcs is probably the best bet.

Fair enough, I haven't seen the movies but watched the show and was curious of the opinion of those who have seen both.

Got a good beam special, got a grab, got Vegeta's crazy legs, got a dragon punch which is hopefully a proper reversal.
That move where he splits into 3 after-images and you choose which beam actually gets fired looks dope.
And of course his supers look dope. Big Bangahameha, rainbow bomb of fabulous, the big light pillar, and the "GTFO Broly" kamehameha.

Added the Starz trial on Hulu so I could finally watch the Broly movie
I liked Battle of the Gods better than Resurrection F, primarily because Battle of the Gods had more slice of life comedy stuff and Resurrection F was largely just one long fight scene
While Broly leaned a little further in the direction of one long fight scene, it worked better for me than Resurrection F did though, overall I liked it a lot, and bringing back Frieza remains one of the best decisions they ever made
frieza and bulma's wishes are worth the price of admission for broly
I really hope they give Frieza more moments like that, honestly
Also now having seen it, I can say that literally any dude could have done Vic's role there, Funi should honestly hurry up and recast the half dozen lines and loads of screaming; that said I did like what the movie did with Broly in terms of making him a person instead of just a inhuman rage monster 100% of the time
As we near the end of the dubbed version of DBS I am now convinced that I would prefer if the future of Dragon ball were entirely movies. The TV show has moments of beauty but the Goku black arc followed by the tournament has just been a real downgrade from earlier stuff and I just don't think the show is ever as fun and engaging as even the worst of the modern three movies. If they just came out with one or two movies a year instead of the show I think I'd be very happy. I really hope they don't try to make a subpar downgrade of Broly just so they can say the show did it. Just move on guys.

I wonder if the Battle of the Gods and Resurrection F "seasons" of the anime were poorly received in Japan?
A Broly season seems pretty obvious, at least while they wait for the Moro stuff to get far enough ahead
Has there ever been any later (say, post Cell saga)stuff that goes into just what a day in the life is for Krillin? Tien would also be ok but Krillin seems the closest to "regular guy" and I'd really love a look into what that is like, at his still crazy for a human power level. Little baldy may not be cosmic power levels, but he could still level a city.

He has a fairly brief scene in Resurrection F of him at work as a cop
I am really digging this storyline, it is doing a lot of interesting things and this latest chapter gives Piccolo a rad spotlight and makes it seem like some other folks are gonna get in the mix
I'm just surprised base Goku and Vegeta wasn't there by default.
After a certain point base Goku kind of just stops being a thing, and 90% of fights are as some variant of Super Saiyan. I want to say this began in late DBZ? The big fights have been Super Saiyan-only since Frieza, though, with base-level Goku usually signifying weakness.
In most other DBZ fighters they'd be there by default since IIRC they tend to go for a "power up to Super Saiyan" thing, but since DBFZ decided to make each transformation a distinct character that didn't happen.
On the one hand this means that base DBFZ just has Super Saiyan Goku and an unlockable Super Saiyan Blue Goku, but on the other hand this means that each season of DLC had at least one Goku in it.

The movies are way, way tighter and have way, way better animation/music attached to them.
Man
That's actually a really dang neat statue thing
this is pretty much it for me
I definitely didn't need to hear Goku call Gohan a f***** a half-dozen times but the juxtaposition with Vic is pretty stark, all told
oh apparently I missed that Gogeta got a full reveal yesterday
he looks super rad and apparently has five supers

need all the goku
slice of life stuff
more yamcha baseball + goku driving plots, less fights
Interested to see what weird shit Vegeta ends up learning.
Starting to think Merus is secretly an angel.

Gogeta Blue is out tomorrow for FighterZ
Which is boring but fair as they were new models with completely new movesets
The DLC for this game was not thought out well
Super Saiyan and Super Cyan are hot right now.
