Our Attorney General was super busy last night. After getting a briefing about those two associates of Giuliani he met privately with Rupert Murdock at Murdoch's home in New York.
Kyle Griffin of MSNBC: Attorney General Barr met privately last night with Rupert Murdoch, NYT reports.
The meeting was held at Murdoch's home in New York, according to someone familiar with it.
Well that meeting could be of interest depending on what starts showing up on fox...
Trump was seriously torqued off about Fox reporting that opinion poll about his impeachment yesterday; I rather suspect he was trying to put pressure on them to "fix" that.
Oddly enough, Fox's front page today is mostly inanities and breathless random-crime reporting...

Fox’s website generally seems to be carefully not calling too much attention to Trump. They prefer to stir up anger against familiar old targets rather than try to spin Trump’s craziness in a positive light. Their lead story right now is the bullshit Twitter kerfuffle about Ellen’s friendship with GWB. Carefully avoiding anything that might be uncomfortable to their viewers.

Their website spent all day yesterday talking about that poll.
Today they're talking about Ellen DeGenerese, how unfair Hollywood Elites(tm) are being to her, and a bunch of trivial stuff (think "some dude died from eating overly spiced takeout" or "let's overhype a meteor that probably won't hit anything").

I expect the timing on Barr getting info about the arrests won't bear out in the way that we've been anticipating. When I just saw that he had received knowledge they were going to be arrested, I started getting excited, but "learned that evening" sounds more like he was told as agents picked them up. But who knows with this administration.
"I will write your name in the ruin of them. I will paint you across history in the color of their blood."
The NYT article on the arrests specifies that he was notified of the charges and arrests before they occurred, and was in the loop for the case "throughout the year."

Until Trump actually tries to flee the country, we don't really need to speculate about what that would mean.

Trump fleeing the country would be an admission of guilt and an abdication of power. Republicans would impeach, since Trump couldn’t nominate judges and shit from wherever. As a scenario it only happens in the event that he doesn’t even have the “agree to resign, Pence pardons him” escape valve.
Even as a hypothetical, it’s outlandish and premature.
So when Trump tried to withhold Ukraine aid, the Office of Management and Budget said "no, we can't do that, it's likely illegal." So Trump handed that authority to the director of the Wisconsin Republican Party and did it anyway.
The White House earlier this year authorized a politically appointed official to withhold military aid meant for Ukraine after budget staff members questioned the legality of delaying the congressionally approved funds, The Wall Street Journal reported on Thursday.
However, in this instance, the Journal reported, career officials at the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) became apprehensive that they didn’t have the legal authority to hold up the funds.
The withholding of aid was originally carried out by career OMB officials, but eventually Michael Duffey, associate director of national security programs in OMB, was given the authority to continue holding the funds after staffers made their concerns over the legality of the matter known, the Journal reported.
Duffey was previously a high-ranking Pentagon official and the executive director of the Wisconsin Republican Party.
Also, Lev and Igor have officially been coffee-boy'd
“I don’t know those gentleman. Now, it’s possible I have a picture with them because I have a picture with everybody,” Trump told reporters on the South Lawn of the White House.

Gonna say Mr President you sure seem to take pictures with a lot of people who wind up indicted for financial crimes.
I would like some money because these are artisanal nuggets of wisdom philistine.
Sometimes I wish this whole thing was fiction, so I could enjoy the pageantry and general bonkers nature of things. But then I realize that if it was fiction, nobody would read it because it'd be too ridiculous.

It'd be funny if Nickleback gave their permission for that.

The US president is not going to flee the country. In the event he is impeached it is super unlikely he'll face actual prosecution. The reason for Giuliani and his buds to flee is that they are not actually part of the government. They have no institutional or political protections. Their sole real connection here is Trump, who absolutely will not protect them.
Josh Lederman of NBC News: EXCLUSIVE: Fiona Hill to testify to Congress that Giuliani, Sondland circumvented the NSC and normal White House process to run a shadow #Ukraine policy, a person familiar with her testimony tells @NBCNews
By "Shadow Ukraine" policy it's important to note that she doesn't mean some scheme Giuliani and Sondland were doing on their own without Trump. Trump was fully involved and they were circumventing the rest of the White House, the NSC, and NSA John Bolton in order to talk directly with Trump about their plans.
Hill plans to say that Giuliani and Sondland side-stepped the proper process for accessing Trump on Ukraine issues, the person familiar with her expected testimony said, including circumventing John Bolton, who was Trump’s national security adviser until September.

Excellent clarification. was sitting here wondering if this was another attempt to erase Trump from the whole equation.
This whole episode is basically the final level of a video game, except instead of fighting every boss from the game, we're revisiting every political scandal ever committed in modern history.

Um. Shouldn’t you do this after they finish their statements that don’t incriminate you? Now they’ve got no reason to hold back, they know they’ve been thrown under the bus.
I am still wondering if John Bolton set this all off as retribution for being canned.
He's already got everyone in the White House shitting their selves because he announced he's totally writing a book about his time as NSA and they terrified of what he might reveal.

Someone should tell the administration there isn't an XBox achievement for doing all the crimes.

At this point the House is probably pissed off enough that subpoenas are getting launched the instant someone blinks.
If they barred her from speaking I'm pretty sure she'd get a "that request just became an order" from Congress about this.

At one point I thought that Bolton might have been the original whistleblower, until someone reminded me that it was someone in the CIA.
