Not surprised, that's a lot of hot burning fuel, stacked densely, and enclosed by metal fencing and concrete walls. Gonna be a real hot updraft coming off that fire.

It's thunderstorming over central LA right now?? I saw a flash of lightning and heard thunder! Unfortunately it doesn't look like there are any cells over Ventura county right now, but this was unexpected!
Huh. About the time that screenshot was taken, I was talking to my mother in Torrance, and she said the skies were clear.
She's fairly old, but I think she knows the difference between cloudy and clear. Wonder if she meant wasn't smokey or raining.

They were fairly small blobs of rainclouds. If the windows my apartment were facing south instead of east I probably would have thought it was just another sunny day.
"Oh shit we actually need to pay people a fraction of the gobs of money we charged them, shut it down!"
It should be illegal for an insurance provider to be allowed to drop anybody who files legitimate claims.
at the very least they should be required to refund all the money a customer paid them since the last time they filed a claim if they're going to drop them like this

I forgot my hat, and as a chromedome, I was genuinely worried about it. Needn't have been, it was lovely out!

I’m sad we have completely fucked the jet stream
Right now I'm excited because next week I might see temperatures in the upper 50s. At night.
