The batter is... fucking nuts, dude. Chopped bittersweet choc, the butter was nutty and caramel-flavored, it's tasting extremely good right now. About to put the first ones in the oven.

Brown butter is absolutely wonderful, and can add that extra flavor to a lot of things that you would use butter for. Hell, I've seen multiple places around here selling brown butter rice krispie treats lately.

Update - they've spread out more than I expect, suggesting probably not enough flour in this recipe. This is an issue I have with White Lily in general, it seems to have maybe less... gluten? less something anyway, for an equivalent volume. Pancakes last week came out flatter than I expected too...

White Lily flower is made from soft wheat, and yeah, amounts to less gluten than typical AP flours made from hard wheat. It's supposed to be what makes it ideal for biscuits.

I’ve beard that the best way to avoid cookie spread is to let the batter rest in the fridge for several hours but that could just be a suburban myth

Alright I got a confession.
I just broke the "pay it forward" chain at the combo Taco Bell pizza hut.
The girl at the window told me some dude 20 minutes earlier started it by paying for the car behind him right. So I asked her how much the order in the car behind me was and she's like "uhhhh56 dollars" where as my order was $9.56
So uh, I got free food and I kindly asked her to you know.. not tell them.

I am about to find out the results of the most tryhard choco chip cookie recipe I have ever seen, much less attempted.
Do you know what 'pale ribbon stage' is when mixing sugar and eggs? You need to.
I mean, most choco chip cookie recipes say this for the butter:
Ingredient: 1 cup (2 sticks) butter, softened.
Beat butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar and vanilla extract in large mixer bowl until creamy.
Melt butter in a medium saucepan over medium-high heat. Cook, gently swirling pan constantly, until particles begin to turn golden brown and butter smells nutty, about 5 minutes. Remove from heat and continue swirling the pan until the butter is a rich brown, about 15 seconds longer.
That’s not that bad. Brown the butter... oooooo how complica
Transfer to a medium bowl, whisk in ice cube,
What’s this now?
transfer to refrigerator, and allow to cool completely, about 20 minutes, whisking occasionally. (Alternatively, whisk over an ice bath to hasten the process.)
Stahp!

has to live in new jersey for ever
So Alabama plays LSU tomorrow and the proper thing to do is to walk around asking why it smells like corn dogs
Posts
Nope.
I'm gonna make half of them tonight, and the other half tomorrow.
I made cookies tonight.
By made, I mean I went to the grocer bakery and bought a box - will probably finish the other half tomorrow, too.

i keep my face slightly wet and use a thin layer to trap the moisture.
and even then..........father winter robs me of my moisture.
it's really good and I like it a lot
Apparently i'm like, halfway through.
Fuck.
Also exactly what currency does a printer accept for bribe during one of its fits?
Not sure I have the patience for such a fussy recipe as spool is attempting though.

Yeah, that's probably one of the reasons that recipe calls for resting the dough in the fridge overnight :P
