On one end of the spectrum you have antibiotics which are nice and consistent. On the other you have psych meds.

Antibiotics are very prone to causing allergic reactions in the susceptible. I'm not allergic to anything except an antibiotic.
That's still the consistent end of the spectrum for medication though I think.
Any medication that requires a prescription is not particularly consistent, but it helps that antibiotics target something less subjective than pain or mood

The ending bit on this week's John Oliver had me in stitches, crying from laughing too hard.

They were impeached but not convicted/removed. Basically, the Chief Justice was MASSIVELY corrupt (the one Oliver joked about), and the others were more low level corrupt like abusing government vehicles and going to expensive lunches on the government's dime, so the House said "fuck it" and impeached the whole lot for lack of oversight and abusing money.
Two resigned (including the one Oliver joked about, who was convicted in a criminal court), one was reprimanded, and an injunction blocked impeachment from proceeding against any of the others, but they were likely to be only reprimanded too.
How can you sue in a place that neither you or the other party resides?
Murray Energy operates a coal mine in West Virginia, which is technically owned by "The Marshall County Coal Company". (This is done to limit liability. If somehow this company gets a huge fine, you can just shut down the company to stop it from reaching your real company.) "The Marshall County Coal Company" is one of the entities that sued HBO and John Oliver, which gives them standing, under the principle that defamation against the CEO is also defamation against their company. (HBO's lawyers were arguing that this wasn't good enough. I haven't been able to find the Motion to Dismiss for Failure to State a Claim, which should contain that argument. The judge did not rule on that, as the case was dismissed for other reasons.)
I will also point out that this never got to trial. Essentially the judge read the Motion to Dismiss for Failure to State a Claim, said "Yeah, that sound about right", and dismissed the case with prejudice....and it only took eight months. Then it got appealed.
Color me baffled that people go through this much clothing.
Yeah the average seems incredibly high and confusing to me as someone who only buys new clothes when current ones don't fit or get damaged. Like I probably buy less than the average of the 80s in a given year. And certainly don't only wear a clothing item only 3 times.

I remember some TED talk touting the fashion churn business model as "the answer" to media intellectual property issues (this was prior to the market flooding with streaming services). As if big budget studio movies with multi-year life cycles can just switch to a model where they knock out a Marvel movie for $1mil in a month to keep ahead of the various piracy hosting sites.
My response was "turning one of the last bastions of unionised labour into low-quality sweatshops is not the answer to digital distribution disruption".
Color me baffled that people go through this much clothing.

It's cheap and it falls apart quickly. You pay way less for it but it's gonna fall apart or look shitty fairly quickly.
So you combine a lack of durability with some people trying to stay trendy and I can see some serious churn in many people's wardrobes.
