That Sonic trailer was so much better

It'll still be a dumb movie, but at least it looks fun dumb rather than Transformers Era Michael Bay dumb

Simply put, Sonic trying to drag everyone down to his campy level is way better than previous efforts that looked and felt like they were trying to adapt Sonic to fitting modern blockbuster tropes.

If they make half of the movie Eggman on Sonic's homeworld, it will be great.

I can't believe Paramount actually listened to criticism and changed how Sonic looks.

I'm impressed, and sweet Jesus I still can't believe how fucking hideous it was before.

    What even is spectum originals?

Honestly Mad About You has to end with Sigourney Weaver killing Paul Reiser right? We've all known that's what'll happen?

I remember when Paul Reiser showed up in Stranger Things and I couldn't believe how old he has gotten. He barely looks like himself any longer.

Yeah making the color out of space magenta for the movie isn't that bad of an idea, since it's not "real" in the traditional sense. It's just the brain connecting the two ends of the visible spectrum, resulting in the color wheel.

I had always thought making a black and white movie, with the alien color being represented in something like magenta, would have been the way to go. In my mind while reading the story it always came to me as an imaginary green-orange.

Anyway the movie looks a bit like a clusterfuck, but it could be a good clusterfuck.

There's already a Color Out of Space adaptation where everything is Black and White except for the "color".

I looked up the story on Wikipedia quick to see if I could find which adaptation this was and if it was any good, and it turns out there are like a half-dozen different adaptations of this story under different names made throughout the years, which astonishes me. There's even one from the late 80s starring a young Wil Wheaton.

Probably because it's the Lovecraft story that's the easiest to expunge the overt racism/classism from.

Fair, though there are actually a few good stories of his that don't celebrate or feature the man's personal vileness. Also I've been watching a good amount of old movies and I can tell you that transparent xenophobia and classism would not have been problems in an adventure or horror movie until very recently.

    A) I don't think he looks that bad for... checking notes... 63. Which is only 3 years older than my parents.
    2) It was nice seeing him play a character in a sci-fi setting and be a good guy, IIRC. A good government guy.
threeve) I am not excited to see this revival at all

I legit laughed out loud when he screamed for a Big Fat Break.

It's a reference to 30 Rock where Kelsey has a recurring cameo as himself as a con man.

I'd be ok with a Frasier reboot if it addresses Daphne marrying her stalker who deliberately sabotaged her relationships because he wanted her for himself. Those last few seasons were rough.

"Exclusively on a service you never heard of and may never hear of ever again!"

Wow, Nic Cage and Lovecraft should be a no brainer but then wait what Tommy Chong? Also, why is there a meteor? It should be a well it lands in, wasn't that how it went before? They're kinda fucked in using a visual medium to tell a story about a thing that defies visuals as part of what makes it so creepy. Still, Nic Cage and Lovecraft!

Too bad I bet it sucks.

OH MAN, NIC CAGE IN AT THE MOUNTAINS OF MADNESS! Now that would be awesome.

For a while, Tom Cruise was attached to Del Toro's Mountains of Madness.

That's a story that I feel would too easily become a mostly standard sci-fi action flick, rather than the kind of academic exploration of dread and wonder that it is.

It seems like Carrey's Eggman will become more and more unglued until he becomes the Eggman we know from the games.

DelToro said that Cruise got the story and wasn't going to turn it into a standard action flick, which is why it never panned out. Everyone but the studio wanted to do it right, and the studio (possibly rightfully so) knew that people wouldn't be down with Cruise going insane in the end or getting eaten by a Shogoth.
