I’m still flabbergasted that some people consider canned tuna fit for human consumption at all.
Raw or fresh cooked tuna is great, but canned is extremely off putting in both texture and aroma, and clearly a variety of cat food.
I never liked it but I learned to love tuna salad and tuna noodle casserole
I think.. I think you just solved my dinner craving issues.
Canned tuna was on sale, so I made some good ol' tuna sammiches
What tricks do y'all use for yours, I feel like everyone makes 'em differently. I chop garlic and onion, put a little vinegar and lime juice on and let that sit for a while, then add the tuna and a bit of mayo. Plus a shot of sesame oil and hot sauce, along with whatever seasoning and spices to taste, usually chili powder.
I used to make tuna salad with basil pesto and some chopped up sundried tomatoes.
Onions, mayo, mustard, cumin, tomatoes and garlic if I'm feeling saucy, mebbe a hardboiled egg if I got nothing else goin' on.
I fully acknowledge canned tuna isn't the best, both taste wise and ecologically. But tuna salad and casserole are flavours of my childhood, and cheap subjectively-tasty protein that isn't beans makes my poverty-stricken heart happy.
Also thanks for sharing your tricks, everyone. I'm gonna get a little jar of horseradish at the next opportunity.
I also just did something entirely thread appropriate, so I hope you're all very proud. Tuna sandwich, but slices of thin crust pepperoni pizza instead of bread.
I don’t actually eat tuna anymore except in the occasional 7-11 sangwidge on account of all the fish gone forever, but I have fond memories of that mayo-mustard-onion-cumin dressing.
I use it to make potato salad these days.

One of these days they're going to run out of flavors and just end up making Oreos with Oreo-flavored cream.
Weirdly, the only place I like tuna is sushi. Both steaks and the canned/salad type are high on my list of never-gonna-eat-that.
I'm the same. I've had tuna salad, and tuna sandwiches and tuna casserole, and I just...can't. When I tried sushi earlier this year I decided to go full hog and tried several types of tuna and I really liked it. Decided to try canned again and...nope. Just no.
They are opening a Chick-fil-A in my town. My "ugh" aside, it does do a lot of business, and they are putting it right in the one of the worst traffic areas in town, its going to be a nightmare

the closest thing to canned tuna I can stomach is taramosalata, which is only vaguely related on the vector of "commercial packaged allegedly fish-adjacent product"

Truly, I am blessed. Onions, mayo, mustard, cumin, tomatoes and garlic if I'm feeling saucy, mebbe a hardboiled egg if I got nothing else goin' on.
Fresh tuna is totally fine but the smell of canned tuna is noxious

Careful with these shenangians, or the captain's gonna pistol whip you.
I'll eat either though, good homemade tuna salad makes a damn fine sandwich
Though I do eat it far far less these days, ever since @Lost Salient got to me.
